I have a small notebook I keep all my computer log ins & door codes in. I also grab a business card off the front desk for the facilities address, phone & fax #. Loved these tips!

Questions to ask on your first day? What the heck am I doing in nursing? And where's the nearest exit?

New grad BSN, I am thinking about doing agency for whole year making money working few days a month and travel for the entire year. Then after that find a specialty and settle to the job I really want. I don’t mind working in LTC to get some experience. Thanks for the info

I can just HUG you!! You’re a lifesaver!! This video is definitely getting downloaded to my phone, so I can come back later to take immaculate notes.....I just started agency nursing last month, and I’m a new nurse who is struggling with all of the paperwork that nurses have to do....I have an idea for a future video....can you go into detail about the admin (paperwork) side of nursing? I am really struggling with how to process physician orders, reordering meds, fall paperwork, death paperwork, etc...I know it’s different at each facility, but how can we obtain general knowledge about how to handle all of the different types of paperwork? I’m so lost....Thanks in advance. 💗❤️💗

Jethel Curry Thats a great idea. Thanks. And congrats on becoming a nurse. The paperwork is def the hardest and they don’t always go into detail about it in nursing school

I'm not sure if you've posted a video about it before, but I'd like to know what all LPNs do at nursing homes. Like the types of calls, paperwork, and physical work. I work as a PCA in a retirement home for residents with dementia, and I'm contemplating becoming either a CNA or LPN for my job and to make more money. However, I'm not sure if I'm even mentally capable of doing LPN work. I tried asking my LPN what her job entails to get a better understanding of it, but she always sais she doesnt have the time to explain or show me anything.

Can you talk about healthcare workers with low pay taking money to harm patients. Healthcare workers having problems with people outside hospital. People become patients what is the protocol in hospital etc.
    Thanks

I’m about to start agency after coming out of retirement. What charting systems do they use in most NH’s in Texas?

I feel that when we agree to a contract for a new facility, even if it’s just for one shift, each individual facility needs to specify what specific contracted “services” I am agreeing to and what their expectations are. I work nocs, and if they hand me 40 pts and one or 1 1/2 cna’s, H#LL to the NO, I am NOT doing skilled charting, or Medicare charting. I don’t even know what color their eyes are! Never met them. They are hopefully sleeping. They say, “just click on the “H” for history and see what the last person put. UM, then it’s not my assessment and refuse to wake them up to see if they can use a fork or walk 50 ft. Hell, I just try to keep them off the floor and get my meds out and keep everybody alive and make sure they stay hydrated, clean, dry, and keep them out of trouble medically.
Facilities need to be more Lenient and write out their own next day assignments and hours and hours worth of charting, and preparing envelopes for next morning appointments, and having to deal with contingency drugs, AND MOST OFFGOING NURSES HARDLY EVEN GIVE REPORT AND ALMOST NEVER TELL HOW TO FIND WHAT I DONT EVEN KNOW I NEED YET because they are overworked, want to go home, and not supposed to be on overtime, AND it isn’t really their job to teach me how to do mine, even though I will be the only nurse in the building with cna’s who haven’t worked there either. Just say “thank you” and let it go that I didn’t check the uda’s INSTEAD OF DNR’ing people. Some places practically want me to do their damn taxes! I can’t even hardly get med passes done in some places. I am so tired of driving to work feeling scared and driving home praying I didn’t screw anything up. The ratios should be mandated by law!
    I need a new job. 😭
Sorry for the rant. I cannot do my job like this, and don’t have any standing orders…. Thank you for listening, IF anyone read this.
