Very helpful! Was my first agency shift today and was such a large aged care facility, i got lost! Do what you can- great advice, I can’t solve the global nursing crisis on my shift 🤯
Currently an agency CNA been one for 20 year's and let me tell you i got so burnt out on a regular job and you're right it's awesome having more then 1 agency.
I wish I had your videos when I was actively working in a bad facility, your wisdom would have helped. You make me want to go back to CNA work! I had lost my love for it but it’s somewhere still inside me..
I just made $32/hr at a facility this past Sunday as a CNA....because it was a late/last minute call.....and I only worked 4 hours but got paid for the full 8 hour shift. I ran to that facility girl. Lmao I want all that money.
Thanks so much for all of your helpful tips. I started out as an agency nurse. I left that job and started again over 5 years later. This time though, I started as a per diem nurse and after 1 year I became full-time. The bad part about agency nurses is that they usually get paid less or the same as per diem nurses and full time nurses just without the benefits. The agency robs them of their pay.
I currently work agency as an LPN, I am 4 months away from finishing the ADN program. I agree with a lot of this...... I would like to add........ I work with several agencies I don't bring my own supplies now due to everything going on cause somewhere in the building there are VS supplies. Even if I have to borrow from staff 🤷🏾♀️. I work with several agencies and I like to tell people when you work those facilities that lets say are a little less than upscale that is your agency picking those. I have one agency I work with that I have never been to a bad facility with however they go through phases where they cancel like a shift a week so like if I pick up 4 shifts I only work 3 or I pick up 2 then only work 1 type of deal for me that is not a deal breaker. I also add don't just ask other nurses about facilities because some nurses will lead you astray about a facility because it is a good vibe and they are trying to keep that secret to themselves. So I personally ask the CNAs as well because you are not "competing" with them for those facility slots. However be aware because a place may be "easy" for a CNA it may not be for the Nurse and vice versa. Get friendly with the scheduler if the place is chill and you want to go regular for awhile have them put you on the schedule then have them call your agency and specifically tell them hey I put her/him on the schedule that is who I want to work these hours. Last tip if you are a person that needs to know your hours contract contract contract! You do not have to travel to get a contract even if an agency claims they don't do contract if you present that as a deal breaker for you, let me tell you the tune changes real quick and they can find them guaranteed hours. I have been doing agency 3 years full-time, tried going back full time staff twice lol I was not about that life anymore. Also, some agencies do have benefits you just have to work full time like any other job ( 32 to 40 hours a week or whatever the company considers full time). You can also have a retirement and some do PTO. As with any full time job there are trade offs. I work in KCMO and occasionally work in KS but I plan on moving more west in a few years since I am not from the area.
I was an agency CNA and it has some of the same pros/cons. I am currently finishing my BSN and cannot wait to get back into agency. I wish I could do it now but that's impossible with school ☺️ Thanks for the video Nurse B!

Hey girl, love your videos. Just graduated LPN school. And completely lost as to where I want to work. All I know is I’m going back for RN and don’t want to work nursing home. Entertaining agency nursing. I have no experience tho. 😩 what do you suggest? Looking for something a little chilled so I can focus on school. I work full time as a CNA and it was hell. Help me out girl🙏🏿
So I’m currently a CNA working for an agency. My agency knows I’m going to nursing school. They mentioned I could work for them as an RN once I pass my NCLEX. What do you think about new nurses working agency? Should I get a regular job first and gain experience?
You cute or whateva 😂... I'm a student and I keep my stuff in that nurse pack tools keys and cash lol. Had to check the instructor about it. She had the nerve to say it can get in stuff💩👀... um ma'am not when you turn it around after you take out what you need. She was like , "oh!"Yeah oh what hurt? What you thought? I ain't putting nothing down and my pockets don't feel like bricks lol
Hey, I’m from St. Louis as well, too. What agencies are you with? I’m with ShiftKey and I’m just not getting with Favorites Staffing. I don’t like Midwest Staffing😂
Love agency nursing, will never stop. I cant stand it when facilities want my personal contact info so they can bug ....like y'all F buddies!!🤣...#nursehoe #nostrings
@@minmeena once you start working you will find folks with some information fb groups are good too because you may be able to find people in your region that work for agencies.
Great video!!! Thanks. I have a question about a LPN program that is always Full but has 4 spots left right now . The only issue is it’s almost $30K. Do you think its worth it??
Ryan Brothers it really depends on what your options are, how much you will make when you graduate and if you will get any type of assistance with school. I would say weigh out all your options and costs especially if you plan on going further. LPN may be the best route to get your foot in the door especially if the RN programs are more competitive or take longer to get into
The tips were outstanding. Thank you for posting this video.
I left the hospital and back with agency as well. RN-BSN journey starts spring 2021' Yayyyy

Try GrapeTree Medical Staffing and Maxim Healthcare
