    Btw - for those of you wondering "what's a stator?"
    It's the collection of electrical wires that produce an electro-magnetic field that is attached to the housing (the outside) of the electric motor.
    The rotor "pushes" off the field made by the stator to make torque and power.
    I know it's only a semi common term, so I thought I would drop an explanation.

    A frunk is especially nice to have for someone like myself. I use it to store muddy boots and shoes. I also put my day pack in there. I volunteer in a local park and do weeding, pruning, digging and planting. Some of my hand tools go in the frunk.
    Why not in the back? That's the part of the car I want to keep clean. My Mach E has a drain so I can just rinse the dirt out of the frunk with a garden hose. All that dirt is someplace other than the passenger compartment.
    One other useful part of a frunk, it's hard for a thief to access any valuables in there. No windows. It has a hood latch. They might go to the trouble of forcing it open only to find dirty boots or shoes.
    The rear is for luggage, groceries, dogs and or dog food. It still needs cleaning but no more than the rest of the passenger compartment.

  • @jimsomerville3924
    @jimsomerville3924 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

    Have a '21 ID.4 Pro RWD, and it's been good. No frunk is nice as the hood is quite short on ID.4 and leads to a shorter vehicle and more cargo capacity in rear. The increased range and power sound really nice. Heat pump for the U.S. cars would be nice too.

    • @unrulyevil
      @unrulyevil 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Model y is short as well, but I would never say, no frunk is good, why is it good? Because you have less storage? So less storage is good?

    • @jimsomerville3924
      @jimsomerville3924 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@unrulyevil Then you don't need to say it. I explained why I prefer it in my original comment. Model Y is 7 inches longer and 3 inches wider, but has the same cargo capacity behind 2nd row. I prefer a shorter vehicle. Or if one prefers more storage, then every inch in length in rear leads to a lot more storage than an inch longer hood with space for a frunk.

  • @wesleykins
    @wesleykins 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    Loved the video guys. Here are some things I noticed that are much different, and MUCH BETTER, than '21 - '23:
    - dedicated physical button for hazard lights between front vents, instead of a capacitive button that blends in with "mode", "clima", etc.
    - dedicated heated steering wheel button on steering wheel; it's really difficult to turn on the heated steering in my '23
    - volume slider moved to left of steering wheel, and tuner/track advance moved to horizontal. HALLELUJAH! Now pressing "right" will always advance in a list and "left" will always go back, instead of constant guessing because it does a different thing on the radio tuner screen than on the favorites screen and a different one on Spotify on Android Auto, and I can NEVER remember which is which.
    - wipers / washer functions moved to left-hand signal stalk. I don't like that change, but probably not a deal-breaker. I thought the shifter on the "binnacle" was just fine.
    - basic climate and seat heat/ventilation in a fixed position along the bottom of the screen is a HUGE UX improvement. My Mach-e does it this way after an OTA update, and it made a great usability difference.
    - speaking of which, VENTILATED SEATS is a big deal for those of us with the XY genotype that don't like sticking to our seats, and it's something that I sorely miss in my '23
    - at 21:39, exactly when you said the "Hyundai Ioniq 5" a blue one drives by on your left!

    I use the frunk on my Tesla all the time, it helps keep the smell of carry out food out of the car. However, it's not easy because the hood is not powered and I always have my hands full when using it. Note to carmakers, if you are going to include a frunk make the hood powered.

    One thing about the Chevy Bolt, it has spoiled me in terms of driving dynamics. One pedal driving with on demand paddle regen will forever be the highest standard. Wish all new EV had the same setup, especially trucks for towing. Hope the Boltium keeps the same configuration.

      I have a Bolt and an ID.4, and although I like the VW better, there are some things about the Bolt that would be nice to have on the VW. The one-pedal mode on the Bolt is excellent. I like having the paddle regen, but I wish it was more like an accelerator pedal to give it a variable response. The VW could definitely use a regen paddle and an actual one-pedal mode.

    So glad EA/VW didn't do free charging with this car like all their previous models. Tired of people not charging at home but tying up the fast chargers because it's a free suck; between them and the uber/lyft drivers (also leasing EVs for the free suck) makes it hard to road trip especially given the limited infrastructure. Incentivizing people to charge at a fast charger over charging at home tells me Electrify America wants the whole system to fail.

    The guy of "E for Electric" had this Id.4 for more than three years, and the problems he encountered were not related with any of the features mentioned here, but with the software. The OS was going from fast and responsive, to a laggard, freezing at times. The updates had to be done at the Dealer's shop and were not very good at re-establishing functionality, or adding new features. And those problems affected the AC function, speed of charge, wiper function, and other basic and essential functions. So tell me, how this model had improved on that, specially for a guy like me who is not into racing or speeding at all, but reliability and functionality. You are not addressing those things.

    For its extremely competitive segment VW ID4 is way overpriced with at least 10000 USD. The price of AWD top spec max out with options should be under 50000 USD including the destination charge. The car does not have exclusive features to claim premium price like for instance, exceptionally good seats, very cushy ride, higher range, very high charging speed, very good route planning, front trunk for luggage, more premium interior, very high efficiency, perfect sound system, high towing capacity, off road ability or even a free NACS adapter with Tesla Superchargers access.
    It is true: it has better rear space design than Kia EV6 or even Hyundai Ioniq5. It has massaging seats, heated, cooled seats, motorized sun roof glass cover but the sun roof is not opening.
    With the current price of VW ID4 should be priced Audi Q4 etron.
