As long as Disney owns the Star Wars franchise, it will always be a mess. It's time to sell Star Wars to a movie company that cares or let it die.
It's sad but it probably needs to die. A lot of these companies are folding or merging. Not a lot of people have the money to buy Star Wars & just looking at the fandom...it's a risk. What one side thinks is good content may not sell well. Episode 7 was liked because it was a literal rehash of A New Hope.

The only way change comes is for someone else to be President of Lucasfilm and bring Legends back to canon.
I don't think they such a good idea to bring legends back to canon, if they did, there are Two Commander Codys, one Cody went awol and another cody stay with the empire and darth vader.

As someone that saw Star Wars back in 1977, I fear the end is near. George selling to Disney was the tipping point. We didn't know it at the time, but looking back, George made a big mistake. I don't know where they could possibly go direction wise that would capture the magic that George created. The fanbase is to vocal and devided to unite behind anything that comes out any more. If Disney and Lucasfilms only care about numbers, then they are doomed. Short of producing a "Stars Wars" that has the same awe striking vibe to wow the film industry. This fanbase will never allow success at the level Disney and Lucasfilms want. New leadership at Lucasfilms may be the only way to save Star Wars. We really don't know why there is all of these creative differences. Are the writers trying to push to far out of the Star Wars realm? If so how did the Acolyte writers not have a problem? Story line aside, the writing was crap. Is Kennedy out of touch with the George Lucas vision and pussing to hard for what " SHE" thinks it ought to be! I think George needs to step in and find a new person to run Lucasfilms for Disney. He put her in control. He should take her out. Yes I know he does not work for Lucasfilms or Disney. That doesn't mean he doesn't have pull.

Leslye Headland's The Acolyte has probably got the bean counters at Disney re-thinking committing funds to big, expensive Star Wars projects.
Of course Disney doesn't want a Rey movie! Kathleen Kennedy wanted another Rey film. Disney doesn't want another bomb on its hands after The Acolyte. Why would Disney spend money on a film no one wants to see?
In my eyes, this is good news. Nowadays, everything is always dragged out. Three seasons and a graduation film plus a few guest appearances in other projects is enough and thus represents a good finale. ❤
I would agree, unless they have a really good Mando story to tell. Some really great shows had only one-to-three seasons, other shows that went on for like ten seasons often had big changes in cast, even locations.

Getting Daisy out there at celebration and then cancelling it would be a humiliation for her. I didn’t want a Rey movie I think that characters story is over but I like Daisy. She was very much an unknown before Star Wars and has been positive about it.

In my mind, it would have been better if the sequel movies just ignored the existence of Han, Luke and Leia rather than doing to them what they did. People would have been upset, but they wouldn't have felt spat upon, and they would still have hope. There's really no getting past that, and it's really unfortunate. Everything else in the movies (the Holdo Maneuver, the fact that Rey was 100% lightside with zero flaws and being the best at all things force-related with no effort or training, etc.) would have received some ridicule and lots of eye rolls, but not so much vitriol.
Mando and Ashoka, Andor are Disneys best and their best movie was Rogue One. Decent writing and good direction the rest is garbage. Mando is their best though and I highly doubt they would cancel that. They would be in serious financial hardship if they did that.
The problem is that the creatives are struggling to thread the needle with unpopular elements from the sequels and Acolyte. They need to go with a clean slate approach. I hope they can find writers who can do it, and they should hold off until they get some good scripts actually written and vetted. I personally like Rey and would like a good script about her. I'd even take a good novel focused on her, maybe ignoring a lot of stuff from the sequels. So, yes, please sort of start fresh.
I get Daisy Ridley has every reason to want to return, but her claiming that she was brought back the "amazing story" when it currently amounts to little more than a vague idea and some notes on a cocktail napkin is trying to hard to spin it.
Disney needs to focus on original content and chill on SW content for a while. Putting SW in theaters does not mean it will do well.
I sort of had a feeling that Mando would be canned. I can see him and Grogu in cameo's on other SW projects, but there isn't much more for these characters to do.

2026??? They should be almost done at this point. Here’s the thing, Disney should be able to pump out great quality content at speed. Instead they labor over things like the acolyte that took 5 years and cost 180M. The Rey film is another KK project that very few people want.
Why aren’t I surprised, I’m sorry to say this, but they really need a clean swipe of the slate at Lucasfilm, and yes Katheryn Kennedy really needs to go. The Rey movie is dead in the water, like every movie they’ve announced officially, with the exception of Mando and Grogu.

Generation x here. Most younger generations that I speak with are not very interested in Star Wars.
Other than Clone Wars, Rouge one, Asoka, Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett which was ok, Disney seems to be in the wrong direction. Dave and Jon have made good shows and know Star Wars. It is important to not veer too far from the old model otherwise it becomes something else.
That is fine if you want to create something new and not relate it to Star Wars then do that.
I'm no hater "fan", but Lucasfilm definitely needs a course correction. The answer seems obvious to me. Kathleen Kennedy needs to go. Any other CEO who has had her record of declining sales and pissing off it's consumer (fan) base would have been fired long ago.
Don't rush into a movie. The main reason the sequels did not turn out well is due to them being rushed and no over arching plan for the story. Slow down on the TV shows and prioritize quality story telling over mid-level quantity as well. More is not always better.
Tbh, I'd be sad if Rey movie doesn't come out. She was one of the best things in the sequels and would've been interesting. At least to me.
I feel like they probably mean the Mandalorian as we know it will not continue, as in Pedro Pascal led. Realistically they should have had him go off with Luke and continue the story from there as soon as they realised that Pedro was more of a movie star now.
How does Kathleen Kennedy still have a job? Star Wars has gone into chaos and most of the stories being told never meet expectations of what the fans are looking for they fall short. They really need someone to inject excitement and storytelling back into the brand.

All I'm currently interested in is the rebuilding of Mandalore & the unification of its scattered people. Along with Grogu hopefully meeting the Bendu whilst journeying with Din Djarin & learning the Bendu way of the force - its way more mandalorian than the Jedi in my opinion.
Other than that a Cal Kestis live action story with Mirren etc would be fantastic. Plus more Andor obviously, hopefully with less AK47s though 😅
For a SUCCESSFUL Rey movie, Rey must embrace the Palpatine name. Period
I reckon The Mandalorian and Grogu film will be the first in a trilogy, which wraps up the Mando-verse stories, and links the OT and sequel trilogy. Lucasfilm will scrap all the other films.
I think the original idea for the Rey movie (where Rey was going to be much older and potentially be played by Helen Mirren!) would've been a good fresh start for films to resume. Maybe that might get resurrected. 🤷♂️

I am sad for Rey. Of course the sequels could have been better but I like the Rey story from beginning to end and I always wanted to see if the story could continue. I don't think fans are being fair with their judgment of her. Although I agree that George should team up with Dave and John and buy back Star Wars from Disney and make a new Star Wars movie company. I think a Rey film needs to be after the completion of the mandoverse, it needs to be good and it needs to lead into something bigger not just a one off.

Steven Knight is one of the best screenwriters in world right now. Kathleen Kennedy just doesn't know when to stop interfering. Her flagship show was the Acolyte, and that was rubbish. KK needs to leave Lucusfilm. Dave and John are the future of Star Wars (although I would love to see another Book of Boba Fett season).
I would like to see Daisy Ridley and hopefully John Boyega get another shot with a well made movie.
As for Outlaws, I can only talk as a PC gamer, I don't buy games priced at 70 USD. Also there are some graphics and performance issues that are turn offs. I'll pick up on sale next year.

Honestly, I dont think Star Wars is really saveable at rhis time. It will always have its fans, but soup to nuts, this well has been poisoned.

Rey was always kind of a stand in avatar for KK. Kinda like Luke was to GL. But unlike GL, who treated Luke in a way that tells an actual story. KK treats Rey and the movies she's in, more or less like a vanity project.
Star Wars doesn't need to be saved. The truth is Star Wars Fans are a tough crowd to sell to, and it doesn't help with all the talking heads in social media throwing shade at it either, where a lot of that same actual fanbase just blindly eat that up.
Kennedy needs to stop meddling in the stories, and just let more talented people have their crack at them and tell something actually good.
This fanbase is ALWAYS gonna gripe about something, they need to accept it, understand that Star Wars is a space fantasy opera, and stop kennedy from getting herself involved.

We don't know when dave filoni making new animated clone rebellion series, with Commander Cody as main protagonist, Tales of the Clones will go first, but not until star wars celerbation 2025 will give teaser trailer, Clone Rebellion series is not coming to disney+ but it coming to disney channel or disney XD like Star Wars Rebels releases.
Speaking of Rebels, we also need another new animated Rebels two series where take place in original trilogy.
This is emblematic of why I’ve been trying say. If a writer for Disney is willing to walk away, it’s because they weren’t actually allowed to do their job. Kathleen and other executives are out of touch lunatics who don’t actually understand storytelling/filmmaking, and they push for things because ThEy HaVe tHe mOnEy and they’re in charge. Kathleen Kennedy should just be there to green light projects and let professionals run the show. If this is true, this is what I was saying would happen. Why would any talent sign up for their work to get killed before it even comes out, time in, time out? To do it, they would have to start spending even more on talent making things cost even more, and we know how much the companies money concerns people. If true then yes, the Star Wars fans who want to see Star Wars die a cold death (which makes no sense but people keep backing them up as "real" fans") will get their way. Having to wait decades to watch new content. The funny part is, lots of these old guys will be elderly if we have to wait for example, the time between RotH and Phantom Menace. Yay. That's wonderful. For what? Where's the win in that?

Can we all agree now and just say it? “ the sequel trilogy / Kathleen Kennedy killed Star Wars” everything else after that is a direct result of them being desperate to put out something that people liked that’s why they were pumping out shows like it was out of a Chinese sweat shop. God of War Ragnarok is already full of bugs but it has an interesting story and is competently communicated. Outlaws is just a mess. Whoever oversaw the creation of that game, has seemingly never played a great video game in their life or done any research on it.
Acolyte, Kenobi, even Boba Fett: They all had an intriguing idea and a compelling starting point, but it was all just so poorly executed. Mandalorian is the only conpetent installation of SW we have.
A Rey movie, while interesting is de facto, not enough to make fans believe into Disney's SW again.

I think Kathleen Kennedy - or somebody high up at Lucasfilm, but my money is on her - has had it in for the Mandalorian since the end of season 2, and it fits a pattern. Mando season 1 came out and was popular. Season 2 came out a year later and did gangbusters, bringing fans back to Star Wars after the disaster of Last Jedi. Then we had to wait _three years_ for season 3, which apparently suffered from a lot of executive meddling and seemed designed to replace the popular lead characters with a new lead. Now we hear that the film might be the end of it. I absolutely believe this.
This is a pattern at Lucasfilm. The more important a project is, the more it gets meddled with and screwed up, and the more the older material gets sidelined. Rogue One was a minor side story with relatively minor meddling; it was one of the best films of the Disney era. Solo had to pick up after the disaster of Last Jedi; the entire film ended up getting remade. Mando follows this pattern. It was great...until it got too much attention.

I hope every project they have in development gets cancelled besides the dawn of the Jedi film. We need new Star Wars that will setup a whole new storyline. Either do old republic and start off with Revan, Dawn of the Jedi, or even post sequel trilogy long after Rey is dead. They can’t keep ignoring the source material. You have all these stories like the x-wing series. It’s basically a 16 book long sequel series. You have Star Wars legacy which is a story long after anything we known in Star Wars now with Luke’s great grandson. Even the new Jedi Academy series would be cool. Anything new but also with scope and scale. We need a new trilogy.
Lucasfilm need new leadership who want Lucasflim to be successful.

Losing The Rey movie is a W for the fans. Ngl though I really enjoy Star Wars outlaws. Much better than Jedi in my PERSONAL opinion. Jedi boss were incredibly hard to the point it’s not even fun. I never got past the first level on Jedi Survivor and I stopped midway in fallen order cause I got stuck on difficult areas. Those games were supposed to be gold for me but they sucked
2026 is far too LATE to put out a mandalorian movie. it was already at its peak popularity years ago and it has faded big time. I loved the mandalorian, but even being a big fan, im not excited about any more mando stuff now and especially not 2 years from now. The show was fun but these characters are extremely boring when compared to the likes of legacy characters we all loved. mando is a situational adventure. i could care less about him as a character. could be anybody really. could be a droid for all i care. this is just my perspective.

Whatever they do with Mando, for the love of the Force I hope they lose the helmet rule. It's so limiting story wise and at least in my view makes not a damn bit if sense. As far as the Rey movie, if it's moving forward please bring Finn back. I thought he was the best of the new characters and I'd love for him to finally get his chance with Rey., and Taika's movie, bye-bye, don't need it, don't want it.

I think most fans won't miss the Rey movie, so it might be smart for Lucasfilm to focus on material that will be accepted by the fandom. Mando&Grogy. As for the games, I think Lucasfilm should look at existing SW Games, and look what is/was successful with the fans. The Jedi Series was. Among the older games who were successful like Kotor, Jedi Academy etc. we too have games that centred around Jedi, and their conflicts. In SWTOR the class distribution shifts now and then, but basically you always have Jedi & Sith classes on top. What could possibly be learned from that? Players are more into Jedi than into scoundrels, lightsabers allow for more interessting fight mechanics than blasters, and the story needs to rock. I think Lucasfilm should look at those demographics, and what viewers and players like. If they had made a good game in the old Jedi Academy vibe, centring on Luke's students, they might have gotten somewhere. Because, honestly, as a fan who played many SW games - Outlaws didn't remotely interest me.
My guess is the stuff on The Mandalorian is true, it did have an ending with Season 3, and The Movie will probably be an epilogue to Mando’s Story.
As for the Rey film, I do hope they keep going (if nothing else, I would be more than happy to write it!) We need something to convince people that there is good in the Sequels and I’ve got to be honest but I’m getting sick and tired of this prequel and Clone Wars nostalgia I want Star Wars to move to an era that needs more depth, but those are just my thoughts.
But seriously Disney, I am here and ready if you’re looking for a new writer for the Rey movie

Rey has her fans but she is not universally loved like Mando and Grogu. They made the right decision prioritising. And Fav and Filoni LOVE and understand Star Wars unlike some of the writers and directors KK has hired so just move tf out of their way and let them cook imho.
