The reason that it feels bigger than the SQ5 is because it the Cayenne share chassie with VW Group brothers like the Audi Q7/Q8, VW Touareg, Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus. The Q5 share with Porsche Macan etc. It's a smart way to save money for VW. Own a lot of brands and make them share components to some degree. Just like Porsche makes the V8, Audi makes the V6/V10 and VW makes the 4cyl engines. That the hole VW group than can share. Some brand makes their special engines, just like Porsche's 4cyl in 718 and the 6cyl in 911-range and Audi's 5 cyl RS3/TTRS engine or Lamborghinis V12 in Aventador.
You Sir got a great voice for this and it was nice to see your lovely wife be a part of the review.

I have exactly the same one, but with more bells and whistles which came up to 90K with the potential upgrades, you mentioned in the video. But I love it. Somehow I find the normal mode very smooth and adequate than sports mode when sacrificing the quick response in sports mode. And I did ask Porsche to have a Sports Exhaust as well which will cost me an extra 5.5K with parts and labor after almost a year of riding this. It is very reliable and nice. The only thing I was missing was the sound and I am waiting for the parts to come to Porsche on the Sports Exhaust. Thanks for the video. It was kind of exciting to see a copy of my car getting reviewed. All I can say is beware when you buy Porsche. Once you buy Porsche, you will have at least one of your vehicles always be Porsche. Hard to steer away from that beauty and perfection.

My wife drives a BMW X3. Quite a nice car but we live in Manitoba Canada and BMW intentionally programs the adaptive cruise control to disable below 43 degrees F so doesn't work in winter time!!!!! We can drive it into North Dakota and as soon as we cross the border the cruise will work. Then as soon as we cross back into Canada it will cut out. Not what we wanted so a friend of mine has the Cayenne and he said the cruise works all year round instead of seasonal. So we are thinking of getting the Cayenne. Nice review. Thx

Liked the review. Ordered a 2021 base model in January and expect delivery any day now. Specked it out much like this car but in Quartzite Grey with black roof rails and window trim, 21" Turbo wheels, black sport tailpipes. Went big for safety and convenience options (premium plus and assistance packages including adaptive cruise control) and top end interior leather (truffle brown/cohiba leather) as well as thermally & noise insulated glass option. Have had three successive Cadillac XT5s but also a 2005 Boxster and 2008 C4S 997 which gave us the appreciation for Porsche quality, comfort and performance, so we decided to go Porsche for the new SUV. Anxiously awaiting getting our hands on the new wheels.

Hi Bob, with ordering your Cayenne, did your dealer mention any delays due to chip shortages? My SA found us one in Baltimore shipping to another dealership but would be able to bring it here for us. Specked out very similar to yours (w/ Mojave beige- minus ACC and wireless charging) but we’re thinking of just ordering one with EVERYTHING we want on it for that type of money if delays aren’t too ridiculous.

Apparently they had available allotment from which they could draw for our order and the delivery date at the time was estimated to be in early May. It arrived in Toronto about 10 days ago and I will pick it up tomorrow. Good luck with your purchase!

I am test driving one of these tomorrow at 11am NZ time. I currently own a 2017 Range Rover Sport HSE Dynamic SDV8. Time to change so I test drove an Audi Q8 last week. Disappointing to say the least. My RR Sport leaves it for dead in every department. My RR Sport is at the dealership at the moment. An issue with the software saying g the DPF filter is full when in fact it isn't. They have given me a new Jaguar F Pace 3L Hybrid as a loner while they attempt to fix the Sport. I have to say it is an amazing vehicle to drive. Drove back to Whitianga from Hamilton in the wet and it stuck to the road like glue around the twisty roads we have here. No turbo lag either. Must be that electric motor helping out. Unfortunately it is only rated to tow 2.4 ton so not an option as a replacement vehicle. This review is just what I needed to give me a heads up for tomorrows test. Thanks.

So it took over 30 years with the wonders of real estate appreciation to get into this. AND I moved 20 miles out of town where the prices were A LOT better! You bet! I currently have the 911 4S and a 2021 R8V10... also a Jaguar XE SV Project 8 and the XKR-S GT along with some other stuff.. The reliability of the Jags which are also a Tata product, have been very good. I have driven a few RR... my experience is that they are cool to drive with good off road performance and excellent curb appeal. Reliability has been issue however from what I gather from my many friends that have them. definitely a different drive experience from the more performance and driving enthusiast Porsche. The 4 year / 50k warranty is better than it use to be tho. We just shot a review on the E-Pace and I was pretty impressed although it is smaller than what you are looking at. The F-Pace may be something to consider as it has a better warranty, will be a little more sporty and come in at a lower price point.
Another option... we currently have a 2020 Audi SQ5 that is a lot of fun to drive . Very high trim level and it is a riot!. I think we paid about $49k for it. Maybe not the same brand recognition but just as good a sport SUV.
Let us know how what you decide to do!

I preferred the smaller Macan, my 2020 Macan S is well equipped and cost about the same as this base Cayenne. What I absolutely do not like about the new generation Cayenne is the loss of the mechanical switches in the center console. Option list is ridiculously long and expensive, but configured the car exactly as I wanted (and could barely afford). Test drove the Mercedes SUV and found it's emphasis on luxury was not what I wanted in a driving machine. Moving up from a 20 year old BMW X5 (original owner) and this will be a worth successor.

If you are choosing between the 2, I’d say cayenne has a more luxury feel to it. IMO GLE only gives me family car vibes. In Porsche Cayenne is the most expensive SUV but Mercedes GLS/G wagon is the most expensive so it doesn’t feel the best of the best like the cayenne does. I do like the GLE coupe tho

Back in 2011, I bought a brand-new Mercedes ML350. I regret it to this day (I still have it) because I bought it for the name, nothing else. Had I spent more time researching, I probably would have bought something with better performance (horsepower, suspension, aesthetics) for the same price (minus the badge).
Long story short. Would I buy the base Cayenne? No. I can't justify spending approximately $68k for a base model anything.
Would I opt for an S/GTS/Turbo? Also no. I am the cheapest man you will ever meet.
Thank you for the free video.
