We just took delivery of ours and love it. Carrara white Cayenne. Optioned our with surround camera, automatic cruise, etc. and as you mentioned, the base model is more than fast enough for a family truckster. One option we wish we had ticked is soft close doors. This car has heavy doors that my kids find difficult to slam hard enough to close! Sometimes they have to try 3-4 times to actually close them correctly. The auto cruise is one of the best examples I’ve ever tried. It’s always calm, smooth and paces traffic beautifully. Makes long distance driving so much less stressful. But easily the best feature of this vehicle is its steering and suspension. We specified PASM and even in comfort mode, there is no lean or head toss at all. The damping is all modes is sublime. Love this truck!
Did you get the standard Adapative Cruise or the InnoDrive version? There's quite the difference in cost. We are just in the process of specing out a S model. If we were still in Germany it would definitely be the Turbo, dearly miss the Autobahn!
I liked your video on the 2019 base Cayenne. I have recently ordered my 5th Cayenne Turbo or Turbo S. This one optioned out at $162K USD. I promise you that it will be worth every penny & more. All things considered, the Turbo or Turbo S is like having three different cars in one. The best sedan, the best sports care, and the best SUV depending how you feel at the moment. Also in my garage at the same time will be a Bentley Flying Spur and a Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet. If I was forced to keep only one car - it would be the Cayenne Turbo (V8) !
And not much of those are sold (ind.stoves), coz of new black stainless is so much better looking and fingerprints resistive quality of it is a big plus

I drive a 2014 Diesel, the best car I ever drove yet. Handling, power, and torque is above and beyond after chip tunning. I average 27 mpg of mixed driving with 32mpg on road trips and get 700 miles on one tank. The price was good too, comparable with Lexus/ Toyota but a different league in almost everything. It's a bit heavy for the city, this car thrives on the high-speed environment (highway of the offroad rally). It is basically a truck that can tow a big boat but handles like a car. mikeythebold tv actually my point is that I don't see the added value in it. I don't dislike SUVs just because they are SUV (though I prefer smaller cars) but I think better cars from Porsche (like the Panamera) offer the exact same thing.
Some advice from my time as a Audi/Porsche/VW test driver: pay attention to the tire sizes that go with each wheel option. The first gen Cayenne and Audi Q7 test cars had extremely wide tires. So wide that only one manufacturer made snow tires in that size, and they were crazy expensive. And they wore down incredibly quickly. In my opinion, the wide tires were also terrible in the snow -- tending to float on top of the snow/ice instead of digging in. Something to think about when choosing wheels for your new Porsche (or Audi Q7/Q8).
My wife test drove the Cayenne today. We have a couple grandkids, and her X3 is too small. With two carseats in the rear, the 5th person is severely cramped to fit in between. That said, we also have a F150 to tow our boat (only 6-7 times per year, and otherwise just sits). So, we're considering selling her X3 & the F150 for a single vehicle that is larger (but has to tow). Current contenders are Cayenne, X5, Tahoe and Lexus GX460. I'll be test driving all of the above, and we'll make our decision. (needs to tow minimum of 5,000 pounds)
I bought a Macan Turbo for myself 3 months ago and absolutely love it! Now I’m looking to upgrade my wife from a ‘17 Jeep Wrangler to a (probably base) Cayenne. She’s also considering a XC90, RX350L, and a Velar. Thanks for the reviews, you guys are the best on TH-cam and the only car reviewers that my wife will watch with me! Lastly we both prefer Jakub’s set up!
Super Slinky, smooth intro! Not much of a Cayenne person, unless it's pepper, though this one looks good from any angle. I'd like to try the "cohesiveness" (to use Jakob's word) of the AWD in snow with the appropriate tires. The cameras moving with the steering wheel is a nice touch, too. At that sticker price I'd never have it off road, that's for sure. Great video, guys.
I have a 2016 Cayenne S E-Hybrid. So it is the facelift/refresh of the 958 generation. Kinda an unexpected purchase for me, as I was looking at a 14 E63S Wagon and Durango SRT. (I, too, love the V8s) . But a CPO example was sitting on the lot during a service appt at my Porsche dealer and I gave it a whirl. I was kinda blown away at the power, handling, and the seamless efficiency of the Hybrid. While lacking the noise, and lags behind the E63S and SRT in terms of performance times, it's still a very strong package that hauls my kids and my mountain bike/snowboard without difficulty; AND, gets 50-60 mpg to boot. It is my DD and utility go-to. For all other times, my 991.1 GT3 gets the job done. I'm very pleased with wide range of use and enjoyment that the cayenne/GT3 combo allows.
We have a 2013 Cayenne TDI now and love it. They're comfortable, good looking and the looks actually age well since Porsche doesn't do drastic design changes. We're at 100k miles now and would like to upgrade soon but really like the low end torque in the TDI as well as the gas mileage and range. We weren't a huge fan of the naturally aspirated Base and S models and anything above that is out of the price range. We looked a the X5, ML, and Q7 but all were deemed too ugly so we kept the search on and found that Cayennes depreciate quickly so lightly used ones are near the same price as other manufacturers. Excited to see the base get a turbo, solving our low end toque wishes while keeping mileage/range reasonably high. Now to wait 2 years for lease return CPOs! As always, great content, guys.
I have exactly the same colour and model built to my specs, I went for a dash compass instead of the clock and beige on black interior with all black door external trim, basically I can buy any car I like, but this one is the best I had by far, and I had them all from Mercs to BMW, I will only drive Porsche till I die, no car beats it, beautiful, comfortable, elegant, classy, it’s got it all.
I like Jakub's pick for the wheels, but not sure I'm a big fan of the roof rack. I think I like the white color that Yuri picked better over the black. I guess it's a tie, LOL.
I've got it for one and half month, absolutely love it. The surround camera is not as good as BMW's, but handling is fantastic. BMW handles as well but not as comfortable and steering on cayenne feels so much better than BMW. You missed another unreal feature, in seat heating/ventilation, you can adjust where gets more heat/cooling. I just got interio protection films for the screens and piano black trim pieces, hopefully it will remove the fingerprints.
You’re so right about the Audi paddles. I swapped the plastic paddles on my SQ5 with big carbon fibre ones the 2nd I bought it. Kinda overkill but kinda super fun 😊
I just started working for Porsche and I have to agree with y'all the base Cayenne is incredible. I don't know how the S or Turbo will be much better, but I am sure they will be!
Honestly so impressed with the base model. Base model Porsche’s always used to remind you that you were too poor to get the loaded versions. It also let everyone else know with crappy performance (VR6 Cayennes from back in the day) and ugly wheels. This is such a huge step up with good performance and nice looking exterior / interior. The read end looks 100x better than the preview gen. Those new taillights are downright gorgeous.
I own a 2013 Porsche Cayenne, I had to do a 2000 replacement of the dash. The needle of the sports chrono clock fell out and it was impossible to replace the clock without taking out a bunch of stuff. Loaner was amazing tho panamera 4s. Overall cayenne is the best soccer mom car EVER no debate
the hole in the centre consol is for the smoker package.. if you optioned that package on the configrator.. that hole will have a cover and it will contain an ash tray and also a lighter...
I agree that amongst SUV's, the cayenne is the high-water mark. However, Porsche used to offer a manual shift on the base...sure, low take rate, but it gave Porsche more street cred amongst enthusiasts. but at the end of the day, there's no way in hell I'd spend this many dollars on a car that's just going to rust and fall apart like every other car on the road in Canada. Thanks again, boys!
We used to always have a 5 series and then a X5, but then we got the 2017 cayenne and it was a game changer. It really is the best daily driver that we've had. Can't wait to get my hands on the 2019 Cayenne
Hey boyz!! Great video guys:-) For a base model it really does pack a huge amount of sportiness that many other base model SUV's in this price point don't. I prefer the higher end SUV's with the larger Torque & HP #'s (500HP+) but for someone who doesn't care or doesn't have the budget for those high end performance SUV's this base Porsche is a top contender. Great towing capacity and the tech is one of the best in the industry. Cheers from Vancouver, Canada!!
Finally a really good looking Cayenne. Great video boys and hats off to you for reviewing the base model (it is tiresome to always see the top trim reviewed at 2x the starter price.)
I like the fact that this review is the base model of a car. Realistically most people would buy the Cayenne or the Cayenne S. Similarly for other cars like the Stelvio or F Pace etc. Its great to see the Stelvio Quadrifoglio or F Pace S but it would also be great to see base and mid level reviews since this matters more in my opinion.
The answer to your question @ 10:22 is yes there is a clear matte vinyl that can be placed over the gloss black panels that is resistant to fingerprints but allows you to view the markings underneath made by 3M. Many Tesla owners apply this to the first gen black gloss rear seatbacks.
Awesome review. Car looks amazing for an SUV. The base model is nice, but the disabled gloss black buttons is a lame way to pressure people into buying expensive options.
THANKS for a great review - I am intrigued by your comments that the Cayenne drives well like a sports car and is cohesive - much development goes into that so TY Porsche.
This "base" model would suit me just fine. I'd get one if I won the lottery and I wouldn't feel guilty at all - until I got a matching colour 911 for the summer ;-) Great video again!
It's great that Porsche entered the crossover SUV market as early 2003 despite harsh criticism that the brand was degrading itself by introducing a new member to their line up that isn't a sedan at least. Porsche is an exotic sports car brand, yet they took a risk by entering the crossover market, and it payed off as every brand right now is making crossovers as well. Though Porsche isn't the first luxury crossover, it was the RX back in 1997, at least they worked hard to catch up as early as possible before the crossover market boomed in the early 2010's. But they're the first sports crossover. Because the idea was with the Lexus RX was take a sedan platform and handling and combine it with the practicality of an SUV. Porsche took an exotic sports car and its handling and combined it with the practicality of an SUV.
Owned a Macan GTS for over a year and that PDK just about had me killed a couple times doing 3-point turns or just city driving. Wait for it....wait for it....wait for it...REVERSE GEAR!!!! Going full milk shake and it was sweeter than a manual 6 speed but at any other time it had deep thoughts on life that seem to distract it from doing its job! Traded it a few weeks back for a Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor Performance and enjoy having NO transmission even better.
Been enjoying the intro music & the fact that you do your "subscriber break" once the video is over. I think it is effective that way as its less intrusive. Could I suggest an Audi TTRS?
This is like base of base of cayennes. no fancy lights no adaptive or air suspensions no fancy leather no body kit no adaptive cruise and more nos.....But it still kicks ass man...Can't wait mine comimg out in Jan..
Thanks for reviewing the base model! Excellent review, told me stuff I was in question of...like wheel options! And more. Enlighten me to capability and power of base 3.0 turbo!
That small cubby is actually there because Smokers Package is not optioned. You'd get an additional 12V with a really ugly lid matte finish on top to keep your ash. We have a 2009 base Cayenne that we got brand new and the new base facelifted 2019 Macan. Really solid cars. Both are optioned nicely and got around 62K USD. the Cayenne has 18 inch rims and we take that car everywhere. Really solid offroader. The macan feels more like a hatchback and is fitted with 21 inch wheels.
Notification bell is clutch,, great review guys!..I’ve always like 80% of the exterior, the trunk and taillights configuration always were ehh to me. The new look which reminds me of the Panamera rear is a little better..but the 957 is still the best (my opinion)
I vote Jakub’s model. I own a 1980s Pcar and can testify, “coherent” is the word for Porsche at least that far back. Score one for Yuri. The other advantage is you can think yourself a better driver than any contemporary BMW, and get snobby. Which where BMW is concerned, is deeply satisfying.
Back in 2014 my fiancé and I were looking at the Cayenne S, drove it, loved it, but we walked out of the dealership when they did an unnecessary credit pull on what was going to be a cash deal, anyway we ended up buy a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track from a different dealership down the street, great car still own it...
Very complete review - facts, banter, great visuals of the car and the details. I cant believe this is the base model, it is so loaded?! Sad part is, this is so far out of my budget. Here in Germany the bare base is already 113000 CAD but it has a 8 speed PDK. Sucks that it only comes in white and other colors cost 1500 CAD upwards. Anyway given the choice I would pick Yuris model, cause the roof rack is a no go.
Superb refreshed design. Great dynamics and an easy SUV to live with and not over teched unless you order it that way. The prices are the only downside. Great review and honest.
Jakub looks like my dad when he was younger. Dad's a really great guy: he taught woodshop and auto and architecture high school kids. He built sets for drama and daptive equipment for kid's with disabilities like me.
We have a Porsche Macan S but we also thought about a GLE Coupe but it was too big for spanish roads. But now we have the Porsche we don’t regret buying since they treat their customers really well but they also handle amazingly. Our next car will probably be the Porsche Taycan

So, we're considering selling her X3 & the F150 for a single vehicle that is larger (but has to tow). Current contenders are Cayenne, X5, Tahoe and Lexus GX460. I'll be test driving all of the above, and we'll make our decision. (needs to tow minimum of 5,000 pounds)
what have you decided?
I bought a Macan Turbo for myself 3 months ago and absolutely love it! Now I’m looking to upgrade my wife from a ‘17 Jeep Wrangler to a (probably base) Cayenne. She’s also considering a XC90, RX350L, and a Velar. Thanks for the reviews, you guys are the best on TH-cam and the only car reviewers that my wife will watch with me! Lastly we both prefer Jakub’s set up!
The first 2 generations of Cayenne are so good imo. This generation sure seems like it doesn't disappoint.
I'm very pleased with wide range of use and enjoyment that the cayenne/GT3 combo allows.
as a 2012 bmw x5 and former 2006 bmw x5 owner I'm salivating at the turbo cayenne. This is my next upgrade.
Totally agree. Good insight.
Does anyone else just take a deep breath out of appreciation whenever they see a Porsche?
Yuri spec for the win here. (I know this is old but I was looking for base model videos so here we are).
❤️
Amazing
Favourite reviewers, favourite car. Damn this video is awesome.
When I make enough money I'll choose between the Acura RDX, Volvo XC90 and this!!! Also Jakub and Yuri I chose both!!
Jakub!!! Nice! Black on black, with cross bars. Astounding
I like the rim design of this. Nice, clean and simple.
Great review! Just bought this car! Waiting on it to be delivered. Can’t wait to start the mods (for TH-cam purposes). 😂
You guys are excellent at your craft. Your excitement and love of cars transfers in your videos...I really want this suv now! Haha!
Thanks
I just started working for Porsche and I have to agree with y'all the base Cayenne is incredible. I don't know how the S or Turbo will be much better, but I am sure they will be!
Honestly so impressed with the base model. Base model Porsche’s always used to remind you that you were too poor to get the loaded versions. It also let everyone else know with crappy performance (VR6 Cayennes from back in the day) and ugly wheels. This is such a huge step up with good performance and nice looking exterior / interior. The read end looks 100x better than the preview gen. Those new taillights are downright gorgeous.
Love the excitement about the Porsche driving experience. Makes me want one!
Customized? 100% with Jakub!
the hole in the centre consol is for the smoker package.. if you optioned that package on the configrator.. that hole will have a cover and it will contain an ash tray and also a lighter...
Oh awesome!
I am a BMW guy all my life , but this Cayenne is tempting.
We used to always have a 5 series and then a X5, but then we got the 2017 cayenne and it was a game changer. It really is the best daily driver that we've had. Can't wait to get my hands on the 2019 Cayenne
@@gockelxxxxxl9584 oh sure let me just go out and buy a 918
Jakub’s spec wins for me. Great review, great car
Hey boyz!!
Great video guys:-)
For a base model it really does pack a huge amount of sportiness that many other base model SUV's in this price point don't.
We love base models too
If you tick the smoker's package (free of charge), the cubby beneath the shifter gets a lid & ashtray
I’m so happy my favorite car review guys are growing , been here since 50k 🙏🏻❤️
The most underrated channel on TH-cam
I’d say fairly rated
TheStraightPipes fair enough. Greetings from
Germany.
American Soccer mom's car of choice 10yrs running..
That award goes to every SUV and crossover out there these days...
Make that the drivers SUV of choice. You have not driven one. At that price point it the uptown soccer mom goes for the Merc or BMW.
More like Ford Explorer
More like F150
There are at least two dozen other SUVs/Crossovers out there which have more of a soccer mom vibe to it than the Cayenne
What about not clear?
4:57 The unsung hero 💪
that tray where you put your garage controller in, is for the ashtray. will be filled if you had the smoker's package
you guys have the best reviews on the net. Keep up the great work
Thanks
Jakub is the winner according to me!!
+1 for Jakub’s build
2019 Mazda CX-9 please. It would be a great comparison after 4Runner and this Cayenne.
Lovely. This has taken my mood from negative (leaf review) to positive. This is the Porsche I would buy.
yuri's porsche with jacob's wheels or rims whatever you like
Been enjoying the intro music & the fact that you do your "subscriber break" once the video is over. I think it is effective that way as its less intrusive. Could I suggest an Audi TTRS?
Michael H I’ll get one as soon I can
Intro song name??
Jakub has the gangster style in his mind. Love the gangster style. While yuri has artistic style. Gangster over artistic
Hahahah always
Gotta say, Yuri did it better! Once the windows are tinted, the white will pop out so much more. Not to mention stormtrooper Porsche 🤠
We also had the Cayenne with all terrain tires (265/60/R18) zero rubbing. A beast of a car
Notification bell is clutch,, great review guys!..I’ve always like 80% of the exterior, the trunk and taillights configuration always were ehh to me. The new look which reminds me of the Panamera rear is a little better..but the 957 is still the best (my opinion)
Oh relax
I vote Jakub’s model. I own a 1980s Pcar and can testify, “coherent” is the word for Porsche at least that far back. Score one for Yuri.
The other advantage is you can think yourself a better driver than any contemporary BMW, and get snobby. Which where BMW is concerned, is deeply satisfying.
Jakub said cohesive
TheStraightPipes I will have to watch again to be a doink and check. Then I will blame autocorrect.
I’ll let you know how that goes.
thank you so much for testing out the base model - a more affordable model for most people
Awesome review you guys can’t wait for more keep up the good work
One of the top 3 "expensive" real life choices right now.... great review guys!
Best car reviewers.
Just got a base 2019 Porsche lCayenne Base after watching your video
That’s a pretty huge oversight that you can clearly see the buttons for the options you didn’t get, doesn’t seem like a very German thing to do.
Audi R8 also has CarPlay behind the steering wheel
Back in 2014 my fiancé and I were looking at the Cayenne S, drove it, loved it, but we walked out of the dealership when they did an unnecessary credit pull on what was going to be a cash deal, anyway we ended up buy a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track from a different dealership down the street, great car still own it...
i am deciding g between Genesis GV 70 and porsche macan
Why would you put the 12v charger in the cupholder?
Cocoy C the designer who forgot to put it in the dashboard layout...
Jakub wins styling the Cayenne. Yuri’s Cayenne is what I would see in the south side of Chicago. 😂
Wifes got a Macan Turbo and its a BEAST.. Love pretty much everything about it..
Lol what Porsche do own? Cause a 911 wouldn’t fit our great Dane and nephews.. LOL
Gockel XXXXXL Bruh, youre not even old enough to drive a car lmao
We have a Porsche Macan S but we also thought about a GLE Coupe but it was too big for spanish roads. But now we have the Porsche we don’t regret buying since they treat their customers really well but they also handle amazingly. Our next car will probably be the Porsche Taycan
Jakub's Cayenne all the way
Man I love Porsche. Another great review. Can't wait for the updated Macan to come out. And didn't you get also 11 boxes in the macan ??? hmmm
We need a top gear style box test thing
Jakub minus the roof rack wins 😎
Jakub wins. Also thank you for that correction on "rims"
The wait is over😍😍😍😍😍
Not me but my mom almost bought a base model cayenne, only changed her mind once she discovered the Audi SQ5.
