    The #PorscheCayenne was the first-ever SUV built by #Porsche about 16 years ago and the success of the #Cayenne allowed the company to build better 911's for the future. For 2019, Porsche gave the Cayenne a full redesign and it now shares a platform with the Audi Q7, Lamborghini Urus, and Bentley Bentayga. It's still Porsche second best-selling model in the lineup but we recommend checking at least the S model to make the latest Cayenne feel more like a Porsche and less like an Audi.

    Good morning guys and happy Sunday! We start this video with a quick update to what’s going on with our 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS. Car is still in our garage for now... Porsche is also finally sending us our very first press car next month, a 2021 Cayenne Coupe S, so expect a follow up review very soon! Stay safe and thanks for watching as always ☺️

    • @natetarbox6660
      @natetarbox6660 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Harry li If you search “Porsche Car Configurator” or “Porsche Build and Price” on google and it takes you to this webpage that has all the Porsche models. And so you’ll pick which one you want and configure it. Then at the summary it shows the price if you purchase and the lease price and down payment. All that stuff. But in the end your probably want to check your local Porsche dealer to see how much it would be in your area. It could change because of sales and stuff.
      Here’s the link to the website: www.porsche.com/usa/modelstart/all/
      Hope this helped! ☺️. You can ask me if you have any more questions. Because I worked at a Porsche dealer then I quit and made my own business. I worked at Porsche of Syracuse but I would recommend you NOT go there. The boss tells us to haggle the people into giving us as much money as possible and all that BS. So I personally go to Porsche of Westwood. Sure it is a long drive to get there from Upstate NY but they are the best around in my opinion. (Idk where your from so it depends where you are from how long a drive would be) Very nice and honest people. I’ve bought a many cars from them.
      What I’ve bought from them- (In case you were wondering)
      2020 Cayenne Turbo.
      2018 911 GT3 6-Speed.
      2017 911 Turbo S.
      2019 911 Targa S 6-Speed.
      2018 911 GT3 RS.
      1964 911 Turbo.
      2019 Panamera Turbo Executive.
      2020 911 Carrera S Cabriolet
      2019 Cayman GT4
      And they helped me order a Taycan Turbo that should arrive in July. They helped me order a 2021 Turbo S Cabriolet, which we don’t know when it will be here. And I’m getting a Carrera GT and a 959 delivered there in June from Washington.
      I also bought a friend of mine a Macan Turbo from there.
      (And I’m only 26 so who knows what the future holds. Maybe 918 Spyder which is out of my budget but my dream car.)

      Andrew.Woolman I couldn’t agree more. Only idiots buy these vehicles. Thankfully, there’s plenty of idiots in the world. They buy these new, generally by getting a leased vehicle. That’s even better because then they’re forced to take care of it. And when the lease is up, they end up on the “Certified” used car market at 50-60% of their original price. AND THAT MAKES THEM BECOME AFFORDABLE, RELIABLE NEW CARS FOR THOSE NOT WILLING TO SPEND $100,000+ for a car that’s going to loose half its value by the time the lease ends. So I watch these videos to get an idea of what to buy next. My current vehicle is a BMW 4 Series hardtop convertible, fully loaded. It’s a car I could’ve never been able to afford if it was new. But it was used...with ONLY 12,000 miles on the odometer for HALF the cost of a new one, and yet, it still looked and drove just like a brand new car. If some sucker wasn’t there to throw their money away on a car that would depreciate that much, I would’ve never of been able to own and enjoy it. Three years later, it’s been absolutely rock solid without so much as a hiccup as of yet. Even the battery’s lasted well past it’s replacement time frame, so I’m about to replace it anyhow.

    It's quite funny, because a guy like him is always "super-critical" about entry level versions of cars like a Porsche Cayenne. But what does he expect? Having Cayenne Turbo S-E- Hybrid figures and driving feeling in a for Porsche standards quite inexpensive 80.000 Dollar base version of a heavy SUV??? For such a heavy entry level model of the Porsche Cayenne line-up with "only" a 3 liter V6 engine, it's surprisingly dynamic to drive and a very satisfying vehicle!
    Here in Europe the Cayenne is a really big SUV, but which of course is class leading in terms of driving feeling and driving dynamics. Porsche just produce class-leading sports cars, cars and SUVs, no matter if its "just an entry level model" with an Audi built 3 liter V6 engine, which by the way is a fantastic engine.
    This guy really has no fucking clue what makes even the "normal" Cayenne with its base engine to a Porsche! Because he's just cruising in typically boring US sub-urban style like an old fart, while talking about "driving dynamics" and the Cayenne rear axle biased all-wheel drive system... LOL! How can he feel the advantages of the more dynamic Porsche AWD, when he's just cruising with this Cayenne in a totally lame driving style on boring speed limited straight roads without any corners and without feeling the difference to other heavy SUVs, especially when you really use the brakes hard in such a heavy vehicle? This is totally ridiculous!
    This guy seemingly has no fucking clue how good and sporty even such a base Cayenne can be, if you really move it like a Porsche!
    Even such a base version Cayenne gives you a quite sporty feeling, because its chassis, steering and brakes are class leading, which let you feel the difference between a Porsche and an Audi Q7 for example, which he mentions several times in this video.

      Totally agree with you, the "base" 2020 version 3.0 v6 340 ps is enough and powerful enough to win against most of suv, for me I have one and I reached in the high way many times 260km/h easly and without sport chrono package !! Only I put sport mode and the cayenne response is magnificent!! And for me it is sure worth the quality power price!! Last thing the first 10k kilometers the steel suspension was pumping kind of bouncing because it doesn't have the adaptive suspension but even with steel suspension by porsche after around 10 k kilometers time the mechanism needs to adhere the suspension working perfectly and the bouncing effect disappears, so yes I think that the guy in this video doesn't tested this car like it need ! My god its one of the porsche you can buy and be so happy without spending a fortune..

    The base is fine (I have owned both the base and the S) if you don't go hunting for the red line. It's not that kind of car.. The S has a more raw and nicer sound and is louder across the rev range with the bulk of the extra power only available above 4k revs. I love it!
    Remember, the current base has way more torque than its predecessor and never feels lacking where you need the power/torque the most on a daily basis.
    The sporting pick of the range is going to be the GTS or the Hybrid if it fits your daily needs better . Don't get me wrong, I love my S and would happily stick with it if I had to, but the GTS will give me that additional oral pleasure and low end torque even though its only slightly more powerful. Good review!

    • @mudman6156
      @mudman6156 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There’s far more truth to that than most people realize. Back in the 60’s and 70’s, that’s how all cars were sold. Option packages didn’t start until the 80’s. Option packages are incredibly annoying because I can only get certain options with certain colors of paint, as if one is related to the other. Or I can only get certain rims with certain options packages. I’d rather pick my own options and dump all these stupid packages. Just price the options directly in proportion to their actual value instead of multiplying by 10 or more like Porsche does.

    • @jacobbwalters8133
      @jacobbwalters8133 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The ability to tailor your options is exactly why the options cost so much. Automakers like bundling options together to obtain economies of scale and manufacturing efficiencies.

      @@jacobbwalters8133 No you're right and that's a fair point, but at the same time when Porsche's safety suite is an extra $6500 and it comes standard on every Honda that kind of sucks.
      It's just kind of crazy that on pretty much every Porsche you can double it's base price just by adding options. And I know Porsche isn't a mainstream brand so you're going to pay a premium and you should. I think any reasonable person understands that but also any reasonable person understand that some/most of their prices on options are insane.

    Classic Porsche. They've always charged a la carte for many options that are standard, even at MB and BMW. That worked for a while on the 911/Cayman/718 because those buyers car a bit less about those luxuries. But the Cayenne is catering to a different customer, and charging absurd $$$ for heated/cooled seats(no heated rear seats), extra leather, etc. is insane. The Cayenne S should be Porsche's true base model. Night and day difference and more in line with the character of Porsche. That engine is so sublime!

    • @mudman6156
      @mudman6156 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh, hell NO!!! Not for $3600. I’ll hum loud exhaust notes before I spend that much for a sport exhaust. Keep in mind, Porsche is DOUBLE CHARGING YOU. That’s because the exhaust that would’ve come on the car has a value as well. But they’re not taking that cost off the car’s sticker price before they add on the cost of the sport exhaust. And that sport exhaust doesn’t increase the vehicle’s power. It’s just the muffler and exhaust tips that they’re changing....for a cost that’s nearly twice the cost of a full sport exhaust system for nearly every other car. So if you really want to know how much that sport exhaust is costing you, go to a Porsche dealership’s service department and ask them what it would cost for you to have the standard exhaust put on the same car. Then add that to the options price for that sport exhaust. THAT’T WHAT YOU’RE REALLY PAYING FOR THAT OPTION. That’s one of those hidden cost that are sitting right in front of you when you purchase a new car. So when they tell you that you can’t be refunded the cost of the original hardware, simply ask for it back. Let’s see if they’re going to hand you a new standard muffler for this vehicle.

I'd prefer old fashion push buttons . the money I've saved by buying the base over the GT Cayenne will allow me to purchase a Cayman base Sports car . my preference would be a 911 4S . Cheers

      Timeless my ass. The original looks old as dirt. And this doesn’t look all that different, at least on the outside. Except for the back where they too stole the light bar style from Lincoln (they had it first), it looks outdated all ready. The Lincoln Aviator is a much better looking SUV with nearly the same level of quality. But that light bar on the back...that always was a Lincoln styling cue, dating all the way back to the early 60’s.

    This is a Porsche motor (2.9L) that Porsche co-developed with Audi. They were both involved with developing this motor. Audi wanted it to replace the S4/S5 engines and RS motors. This motor comes with twin turbo and is used in the RS4 and 5. Porsche uses it here and in the Macan Turbo. They made it for the new Panamera and uses a big turbo to make 460 hp at the time. This is a great Porsche/Audi engine that will end up being used in 10+ models and produce between 350 and 500 hp.

    • @theredline
      @theredline  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We haven't spent a dime on maintenance for the Cayman since its a lease and we got the pre-paid plan. That being said, the Porsche dealer tried to tell us the Cayman needed about $2200 worth of recommended services to be done next year while it was at the dealer... These ridiculous items included: a brake fluid change, a fuel induction/throttle body service, a 4-wheel alignment, cleaning the AC drain vents (apparently, they get clogged with crap, but ours is fine bc its sits in the garage), and a battery replacement. We told the service advisor thanks, but no thanks and all these items would be their problem when the lease is returned next year. The service advisor also told us a tune up is required every 40,000 miles. We wouldn't recommend buying a used one unless you know its had all the preventative maintenance done already. At that point, you probably will be spending a couple hundred bucks a year to keep it maintained properly.

    Great review. I drive an X5 40i and felt similar about the base Cayenne when I drove it. The S felt comparable to my 40i. One thing I wish you would do when comparing is to also compare relative prices across competitors. My X5, with almost every option, came in at $86K. A comparable Cayenne base hit right at 98K, which would be the cost of a comparably equipped X5 50i. The S with the same options as mine came out to $114, which is X5M and GLE63 territory. Porsche just doesn't make sense to me at the SUV level. Nothing quite drives like a 911, but an X5 is better than the Cayenne price to price.

    Drove the S and the base. Steering was decent but nothing to write home about. Recently I drove a Rav 4 which tracked like it is on rails. Super responsive and on centre focused. Good on Toyota for that, bad on Porsche. Power was smooth but not stellar as you mention. I was a little disappointed in the cornering. Too much lateral force will cause it to scrub a bit. My X7 does better than that. Not a huge difference, mind you, but better planted. What I didn't like is the "glorified Volkswagen" feel. Too much road and ambient noise. Yes, I know the BMW is much quieter, as are the GLE and GLS. In fact the X7 is much quieter. More like an S Klasse. Not really a comparison but going from one to the other is a unique experience. The Cayenne is a good car, no doubt, but you're basically buying a name, not performance. Cheers.
