When speaking to Jehovah’s Witnesses it’s important to be prepared. They have a very literal interpretation of scripture. You cannot say the obvious things. I’m an exJW who would love to speak to JWs but cannot because I’m considered an “apostate “ since I no longer worship their organization. However I can offer some great tips for you. I love and respect what you’re doing as it requires so much patience and zeal.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are the most difficult people to reach because of how the organization operates in keeping information from them while also giving them a false sense of confidence in scripture. Their
arrogance comes from how many hours of study in their religion’s publications but not realizing they know nothing about the Bible as they think they do. They have an answer for everything so as long as it’s already been discussed in their meetings. If you present something in scripture that they never saw or wasn’t taught by their leaders, they will send you to their website. Basically saying “I don’t care to know what you’re showing me in scripture because it’s not important to me. The only thing that’s important to me is what the leaders in my religion teaches me.”
For those who do care to know due to either wanting to be right or by having a sincere love for truth (the rare ones), I’ll give you 2 tips to engage them.
#1 when discussing whether Jesus is a created Being because the word “firstborn” is used in Colossians 1:16, don’t talk about the Greek, just go to exodus 4:22-23 where God says Israel is His firstborn but they’re not the First Nation that ever existed and how can a nation be firstborn? Jeremiah 31:9 speaks of Ephraim being God’s first born when he was not the oldest, Manasseh was the first one born. Psalms 89:27 David is God’s firstborn. Ask the JW if there are any places in scripture where Jehovah calls someone His firstborn and it means anything else aside of being chosen, preeminence, etc?
Let the Witnesses explain. They will say “jesus”. Push them to give another example to which they won’t be able to. So when God calls someone HIS firstborn we see that it always refers to inheritance, God’s chosen one. Preeminence, as stated in verse 18 of Colossians 1.
After asking them to compare scripture you have accomplished the point that firstborn has more than one meaning and if read in context with verse 18 we can be sure it means preeminence in Colossians 1. They may say “each one is part of the group their preeminent over. Israel is a nation, David is a king, so Jesus is part of creation.. Ask them does scripture tell us that Israel is a nation? Yes it does. Does scripture tell us that David was a king? Yes it does. Does scripture say Ephraim was an Israelite? Yes it does.
Does scripture say Jesus is created? Does it say He is a thing or does it say that all things came into existence through Him and apart from Him not even one ☝️ thing came into existence that came into existence?? (NWT John 1:3) So creation began with Him. (Revelation 3:14)
Then move on literally do not allow them to continue on that any longer. If they side track by saying “all OTHER things” , take them to their website to their older Bible (1984 version) point out the brackets around the word “other” in Colossians 1:16-17 that was removed from their 2013 later bible versions. This signals that the writers added that word. Then ask them what does it mean when you read the passage without the word “other”? Have them read it out loud.
Don’t pressure them to answer you, trust their egos or curiosity will make them go home and look into it.
#2 Take them off the yellow brick road. Meaning don’t speak of the obvious things that we Christians say on TH-cam. Their leaders are watching and curbing their material to combat. So John 1:1 is to be saved for another day if you get it. They literally have talks at the meetings to dispute this. Instead hit them with : who should we confess and bow to and whose name is above all names according to the scriptures?
Of course they will say Jehovah and quote psalms 83:18 like you heard.
Then show them Isaiah 45:22-23 where Jehovah says “ turn to me and be saved …I am God and there is no other….To me every knee will bow by me every tongue will swear loyalty.”
Ask them to compare Phil 2:9-11 where it says Jesus has the name above all names and every knee should bend of those who are in HEAVEN and on earth and those under ground. Every tongue should openly acknowledge that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father.”
Then leave it alone concluding that scripture says all who are in heaven and on earth should bow to Jehovah and Jesus and confess allegiance to both of them. BUT as written God says “I am God , there is no other.”
Why do we give the same allegiance to the Son as we do Jehovah? The JW can try and reconcile that. John 5:22-23 can be compared as well. It brings glory to the Father that we honor the Son JUST AS we honor the Father. So who truly is Jehovah?
Show them a few more contradictory scriptures and ask them to research it and get back to you. There is no Savior but one. Yet scripture says Jehovah and Jesus are our Savior . They’ll say yeah jesus was sent to save us so it is really Jehovah that saved us. Then show them how Jesus volunteered to save us by laying down His life through His love for us (1 John 3:16; John 15:13-16) The mission is not to change their minds but to place doubt in their minds of their own teachings. Show them something they haven’t seen before.
-Why are all things through both Jehovah and Jesus? (Romans 11:33-36; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Colossians 1:16-17; John 1:3)
-Why are both Jehovah and Jesus called the First and the last? (Isaiah 44:6-8; revelation 1:8, 17-18)
I did this with my sister and then she made it all about the Bible translation I was reading from which was the king James but she could not say anything since it’s on their website JW.org. However I told her it’s in the new world translation as well. I think she just didn’t know what to say. They have shunned me since. My sister became scared because she wasn’t able to explain that. However through her pride for her religion she will stick to what she’s comfortable with. I’ve planted the seed it’s in Gods hands now. All I can do is pray for them.
    God bless you!

Until you believe Jesus is God in the flesh you aren't even born again. This is not about religion, this is about being born again by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit which only occurs when you believe he is the Word made flesh (God in the flesh). The Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, Muslims, Buddhists, etc. are all the same. They believe he is just a man, a prophet. What distinguishes a true Christian is believing Jesus is God and being born again of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes in you'll know the difference.

Jared, I'm curious, how does your family react, say, regarding Isaiah 6 and John 12? Isaiah 6 is Isaiah's vision of God in heaven, Jehovah. In John 12, John attributes Isaiah's vision to seeing JESUS. Jesus is the HE, HIM below. The passage is about Jesus.
_37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on *HIM* :
38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
41 *These things said Esaias, when he saw HIS [JESUS] glory,* and spake of *HIM* [JESUS] .
42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on *HIM* [JESUS]; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess *HIM* [JESUS] , lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
45 *And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.*

@@jaredkish8716 All you can do is drop seeds. But Witnesses that I've spoken to struggle with the verses from Isaiah 6 and John 12 above. WT knows the WHAT God is but not the WHO.
What God is - the one Divine Being
What Jared is - a Human Being
WHO God is - 3 persons
WHO Jared is - 1 person
That God is 3 persons is hinted at in the Old Testament but revealed in the New Testament. In the OT, right away in Gen 1, God says _26 “... Let _*_US_*_ make man in our image, after _*_OUR_*_ likeness_
The US hints at the Trinity, 3 persons.
They also error greatly on the biblical understanding SONSHIP. My son has the same nature as me. Jesus as the Son of God has the same nature as God, Divine. And they error on what it is to BEGET. One begets what is of the same nature. One MAKES what is not of the same nature. CW Lewis had a famous passage on this topic, link is here : www.goodreads.com/quotes/157977-we-don-t-use-the-words-begetting-or-begotten-much-in
Also, I ask them do they always do what Jehovah commands even if 8 fallible men disagree and teaching differently? Keep in mind regarding the passage below, that this is not a question of biblical interpretation of a greek word. The Watchtower taught that Jehovah COMMANDS that ALL WORSHIP JESUS. And if the WT can error on this, they can error on anything and must admit that Trinitarians could be right: Jesus is God incarnate.
*_"Jehovah God commands all to worship Christ Jesus_*_ because Christ Jesus is the express image of his Father, Jehovah, and because he is the Executive Officer of Jehovah always carrying out Jehovah's purpose (Heb.:3-6).”_ (WT 1939 Nov 15 p.339)

I studied with JWs for about a year. I spent about 6-8 months just listening and learning what they believed and presented... I spent the last few months of the year contesting their teachings and they excommunicated me. I was hoping to get through to them, but they are taught to run if contested too much.
The thing that blew me away was they can agree Jesus created everything and that John calls Jesus God... but deny Jesus IS God.

Which part of jw teachings did you contest? I did the same thing, yet came to realize it actually makes sense. I found what they taught actually is scriptural. To understand it, we must consider the entire Bible as a whole. So for myself I was satisfied with the answers I got. I guess when asking questions, a person's true Intent surfaces. Wether they're asking to debate and prove wrong, or to actually learn, and converse allowing the scriptures to speak for itself. The true intent of a person soon becomes obvious..

The Holy Spirit draws us to the Lord Jesus for salvation. Acts 2:17. Salvation is only found in the Lord Jesus Christ as there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Remember it’s the beginning of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ Mark 1;1. There is no other gospel other than the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Call on Jesus right now and have eternal life John 3:16. There is no use calling on Michael as he is only one of the chief princes and he worships the Lord Jesus Hebrews 1:6. There is no other way to the Father. Salvation is found only in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ Luke 19:9. You are either with Jesus or against Jesus. Jesus is the man: the God man. @LSmoove 79 If God himself has not preserved the exact pronunciation of his own name, then why today are some people persisting in going against his will? By allowing the exact pronunciation of his name to be lost, God is effaced in favor of his son who has received all power. Just as it was appropriate in the old days to be witnesses of YHWH for the Jews (central element of the Old Testament), so much so today to be witnesses of Jesus (central element of the New Testament). The NEW TESTAMENT clearly asks us to be WITNESSES OF JESUS and not of YHWH. We have the confirmation in Revelation 17: 6: "and I saw this woman drunk with the blood of the saints and the blood of the witnesses of JESUS." this prophetic text was to take place in the final period of days. Are we talking about the witnesses of YHWH here? NO While the NEW TESTAMENT expressly asks us to be witnesses of Jesus (Acts 1: 8), the WT will justify its designation as CHRISTIAN identifying itself exclusively with a verse from the OLD TESTAMENT (Isaiah 43:10) where YHWH addressed himself exclusively to the ISRAELITES who also knew the exact pronunciation of the sacred name. Would it have been imaginable at that time to hear the chosen people continually flay the holy name?

Wow, I have never interpreted that section of Philippians 2 in that way before. “How can someone humble himself to something that he’s already subject to?” So well said Preston. The very fact that Jesus humbled himself to death means that He willingly chose to die, unlike us who all must die in the flesh one day. Another great Scripture on this I think is John 10:17-18. Here, Jesus clearly Says that “For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it [His life] from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.” Keep this channel going dude, I learn so much from you.

The Bible says in Philippians 2, Jesus is equal to God, but in *humility* didn't consider it robbery not to be equal, so in humility He *became* a servant and made in the form of human likeness.
This is why Jesus constantly talked about obeying the Father and doing nothing apart from the Father. He was teaching *us* how to be servants. This is why He prayed to the Father. This is even why He calls the Father "greater than I".
God became human to show us how to serve Him. He became a servant in humility, and spoke of Himself from the perspective of a servant.
Secondly, only Jesus' *body* died on the Cross. The Bible tells us God is Spirit. Jesus committed His spirit to the Father when His *body* died on the Cross. We even see the Bible talk about what Jesus DID after He died when he descended into hell to preach to the captives, *before* His Resurrection.
The lady in the black coat is the "handler" .😂😂😂 She makes sure everyone sticks with the deception.
Edit: I see you touched on that verse...I commented before the end.

These people need to read revalation, there's no arguing that. These people dont read the bible enough. And their religion was started by charles taze russell in 1841 by "his" own interpretation of the bible. Their bible was translated by 5 people who have no education in language which is why there are dicrepancies in it. Jesus specifically warned against adding too and taking away from the bible. They bend scripture & doctorine to fit their belief. And the name they use, vowels were taken from 3 different latin words. Ancient hebrew used only consonats & no vowels, pronunciations were passed down orally because of fear of GODS name being blasfemied. Calling GOD by a personal name other then LORD, FATHER or GOD is putting theirself on a level of equality. That is NOT being humble befor the FATHER. Shortly after i started reading the bible i realized Jesus was GOD in flesh. And this is my thought on the trinity: God the father, God the son & God the holy spirit. We only know what was made known to us. There are things not made known & i dont believe our human mind is capable of grasping it. My parents are JW & have been since i was 5, now 48, but im not, i do believe they are worshiping a false GOD & JESUS then in the bible. In my opinion they are a mis-guided taught & controlled cult. Only some wake up to realize it, goodluck trying to get them to see it.

Throughout the Scriptures God is repeatedly termed the Almighty God. “I appeared unto Abraham, . . . by the name of God Almighty.” (Gen 17:1; Ex. 6:3; Ezek. 10:5) But his Son is merely termed a mighty one. “Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O mighty one.” “And his name shall be called . . . Mighty God.” (Ps. 45:3; Isa. 9:6, AS) Jesus appreciated this distinction. In replying to the religious leaders of his day, who accused him of blasphemy, he said: “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said: You are gods’? If he called ‘gods’ those against whom the word of God came, and yet the Scripture cannot be nullified, do you say to me whom the Father sanctified and dispatched into the world, ‘You blaspheme,’ because I said, I am God’s Son?” (John 10:34-36, NW) Yes, Jesus did not claim to be The God, but only God’s Son.

    Ask yourself that Jehovah’s witnesses.
Aside from the MANY scriptures that flat out say Jesus is God, (John 1:1 for example)

Ugh, JWs have the same scripted responses to the trinity. She lied when she said their kingdom interlinear doesn’t say “and the word was God” - it does! They added the “a” it absolutely is not in the Greek whatsoever. In fact the correct translation is “God was the word” - which is precisely what their OWN interlinear says!
I was born into this religion, but left 23 years ago, thankfully, and I’m now in Christ 💕
Thank u for sharing this 🙏

@LSmoove 79 the way u are asking the questions tells me u assume the trinity doctrine is actually a heresy known as Modalism. Christians don’t believe this! This is not the trinity. We don’t believe Jesus is the Father, or that they are the same person. They share the nature of God, but are three distinct persons within the triune Godhead.
So John 1:1 uses both THEON - θεόν and THEOS - θεός
Theon (θεόν) is used when speaking about the first use of “God” - this is referring to the Father. He is the ‘object’ - the ‘WHO’ used in this verse.
Theos (θεός) is used for the last use of the word “God” - in this use of the word, it is referring to the ‘subject’ within the sentence - the ‘WHAT’
      In short,
“In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, (Theon - object - Who) and the word was God.” (Theos - subject - What)
Greek is an incredibly intricate language, and uses completely different rules to English grammar.
Also the words don’t change the beginning of the word, it’s the ending. So whether God or god, if used as the object it’ll still say Theon.
      Hebrews 9:24;
“For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.” Clearly speaking about the Father here. As I said, I don’t believe Jesus is the Father. He is the Son.
Also, Jesus has two natures; divine and human.

Your argument holds no weight. In the KKV at John 1:6-7 it says “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.”
Look, the KJV inserted “a” where it says “a man” in verse 6 and again where it says “a witness”..
That’s how translation works. It’s never exactly word for word from one language to another because grammar is different.
So how do you know where to use the indefinite article like “a” or “an”? Going back to John 1:1 where it says “... and the Word was with God, the original Greek uses a definite article, like “the”, so literally translating it, it would says “... and the word was with THE God”. However, the second use of the word for god did not have the definite article, so it is correct to use the indefinite article to properly translate it.... “ and the Word was “a” god.
Also, the word for God used in this verse and for god, used in the same verse, is different. Theos and theon, both from the same root word, but used differently to distinguish the difference between the two.

@@ShapeUPmiAZ there is no definite article in John 1:1. As I said above, the exact translation is “God was the word”
Re: Theos and Theon, that doesn’t change “God or god” as Greek changes the end of the word, not the beginning. So that’s totally irrelevant.
      In the case of Acts 28:6;
“They were waiting for him to swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw no misfortune come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.”
Who did the Maltese people worship? Clearly more than one, given how they say “a god” We know it wasn’t God, so clearly they were idolaters. They were shocked that Paul wasn’t hurt whatsoever by this snake, and wrongly assumed he must be a god. Which tells me that they believed in any god, not God Himself, and thought Paul was one of those (a god)
In this verse, the Greek word Theon is used. In this case, it is referring to the object.
      John 1:1 .....was God (Theos)
      Acts 28:6 ..... a god (Theon)
The same Greek word isn’t used, for the latter part of John 1:1, it’s the same Greek word used for the first use of the Word God. Both verses use Theon, not Theos.
      Greek grammar rules;
      1. In Greek, word order does not determine word usage like it does in English. In English, a sentence is structured according to word order: Subject - Verb - Object. Thus, "Harry called the dog" is not equivalent to "the dog called Harry." But in Greek, a word’s function is determined by the case ending found attached to the word’s root. There are two case endings for the root theo: one is -s (theos), the other is -n (theon). The -s ending normally identifies a noun as being the subject of a sentence, while the -n ending normally identifies a noun as the direct object.
      2. When a noun functions as a predicate nominative (in English, a noun that follows a being verb such as "is"), its case ending must match the noun’s case that it renames, so that the reader will know which noun it is defining. Therefore, theo must take the -s ending because it is renaming logos. Therefore, John 1:1 transliterates to "kai theos en ho logos." Is theos the subject, or is logos? Both have the -s ending. The answer is found in the next rule.
      3. In cases where two nouns appear, and both take the same case ending, the author will often add the definite article to the word that is the subject in order to avoid confusion. John put the definite article on logos (“the Word”) instead of on theos. So, logos is the subject, and theos is the predicate nominative. In English, this results in John 1:1 being read as "and the Word was God" (instead of "and God was the word").

God bless you bro for your work. This is great evidence that in the flesh, no one can grasp the things of God. So many times they, leaned on their own understanding and presuppositions and closed their mine to what the scriptures actually say.
