How to clean Intake Valves BY HAND Fast - No Walnut blasting

  • I will be showing you have to clean your intake valves by hand. The intake valves on direct injection cars do not have fuel pass over them like port injection cars. Because if this, carbon will buildup on the valves and valve stems which can lead to issues or poor car performance. This service should be done if your car has not had the valves cleaned yet. Cleaning your valves can improve your cars efficiency, idle, performance fuel economy etc. It also is preventative maintenance for when too much carbon buildup exists it could not let the valves seat in place properly and could damage the valves.

    I bought some key board dust cleaner. It's compressed air in a can .it does a great job blowing out build up after scraping it.

    bristles came off the harbor freight nylon brush. had to carefully vacuum them out. - just a warning (wonder if the same could happen with the brass brush?

    Wish i seen your video sooner, just sprayed crc into all the valve, and one of the valve was opened.. I sprayed a good amount and left it over night for 2 nights.
    Is this bad?

    Used to be a merchant marine for 16 years .Ship big electric generator have individual cylinder head . If we are doing cylinder head overhauling.We pour fresh water in intake and exhaust port with valves still attach . Could no longer remembered how many days it was before we started to overhaul it but but you could see that all the carbon was floating on the surface of the water . Even those fire tube boiler we just use fresh water through high pressure gun .

    Jayden, great video. You have good work habits, methodical and careful. But it seems like we didn’t get the whole story. What happened as a result of your work? Immediately on startup? Did it blow out residue? If so, how long to calm down? How was drivability after all said and done? Please do a follow up, even a two minute description. I’ll subscribe to get notified. Thanks.

      Thank you for the feedback! Start up was normal as usual. It is similar to changing the oil on your car. It is necessary to keep the engine running good however you won’t necessarily feel the effects of it unless your valves were very dirty hindering your engine’s efficiency. There should be no residue since you are removing all of it from the valves while they are closed. When the valve is down there is an air tight seal. This is why it is very important to make sure the valve is closed so that you can use the cleaning chemicals and brushes to remove the carbon buildup. If for some reason you do happen to leave residue it is not a big deal. If excess carbon is left loose, it will burn when it falls into the combustion chamber. If you leave carbon residue caked on the valves it will remain caked on the valves as it was before you cleaned it. I hope that answers your question. I’d be happy to answer any others you have!

      I may have messed up ,
      #5 & 6 were still slightly open .
      I cam only assume my spray & gunk got in.
      Any suggestions ?

    Lucky for you to have a 90 degree placed 4 cylinders. However, Most 4 cylinder cars have the intake close to the firewall (the rear side close to the windshield).
    I am not sure how we can clean them well without the room to stick tools there to clean, let
    alone the obstruction of a clear view. V6 models may be easier to do since the valves are gathered together right in the middle.

    Probably going to be doing this myself in a couple weeks. Need to do injectors on my sierra. so since I got the intake off, might as well scrub it out. But I'm hoping my previous attempts of seafoam/crc cleaner and oil catch can kept it to a minimum.

    Ese procedimiento lo realizado en varios carros le recomiendo usar mejor cepillos de cerda de plástico de buena calidad ya que el cepillo de laton puede rayar toda la valvula y si la raya el retenedor deja pasar aceite por la misma y es grabe el problema del resto muy buen trabajo lo felicito.

    Will it have any side effects? Scared the gunk will drop inside pistons spoiled the enigine

    • @jaydengarcia389
      @jaydengarcia389  ปีที่แล้ว

      No side effects if done properly. Just make sure the valve is closed and no residue should go in. It also will not harm the engine if a small amount does get in as it will burn off anyways. Your pistons also build up carbon however gasoline is shot onto them which keeps them cleaner then the intake valves. Fuel injector cleaner such as Techron or Seafoam can also help clean up the carbon buildup off the pistons when you add it to your gas tank.

    What was the car's mileage when this was done? And have you noticed any differences with misfiring before vs. after?

    Hi Jayden thanks a lot for this video. It encourages me to do the same in my car. I have a question for you though.. When you crank the engine to close the open valve, when do you know it is completely close? Is it only by "eye checking" ? My fear is that I think it is closed but is not and then the fluid instead of soaking the valves will go inside the combustion chamber and create a hydraulic lock.

    • @PRviewsvlogs
      @PRviewsvlogs 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You need a good light , you can tell by looking in there if they are closed , but if your skeptical spray a little first and see if the fluid stays if it does not then it’s open , if that happens don’t start the engine for a few hours , I take valve cleaner or brake fluid in small mounts will dissipate after a while

    If only we werent stuck having to use these engineered failure points due to government intervention...

      @Jayden Garcia all for an almost negligible improvement to emissions. Which is only applicable when the valves are in good condition. As the problem shows itself, it actually has a detrimental effect on the emissions. Becoming worse than your typical port injection... we are ruled by fools.

    • @PURENT
      @PURENT ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's not an engineered failure point. It's just cost saving that was used for this engine. Direct injection increases power, but then you get carbon build up.
      The more expensive solution would have been to have dual injection keep valves clean and have a powerful engine, but this is GM bean counters we're talking about here.

    • @jaydengarcia389
      @jaydengarcia389  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PURENTYes this is true. ZZP performance actually sells a kit to add a 5th injector that uses port injection to make more power. This would also keep the valves clean.
