I love mario rpg games but man, bowser's inside story is something else. I never owned it growing up, but my best friend did. He'd come over to spend the night and we'd slowly chip away at the game, taking turns playing. When it came to the final battle, neither of us were good enough at button mashing to suck up fawful so we were stuck for a while. My dad who grew up with atari and NES showed me button mashing techniques that i still use today, and ultimately we ended up beating the game. All that struggle paired with the final fight music really made for incredible memories
That's awesome! Experiences like that make games like this so special. I remember being 10 years old when the game came out and being so excited. I NEVER have played a game for the first time on an emulator, but I remember downloading the ROM and playing up until the end of the first "Inside Bowser" segment and stopping to wait until I got the game for real. Looking back, it's crazy I had that much self control as a child lol.
YES! Finally someone who says Paper Jam is an amazing game with beautiful music and most gameplay. I still love dream team and its my number 1, but love them all
@@superjumpbros64 Paper Jam really gets a lot of second hand anger from Sticker Star. It is at the same time the worst game in the series and a fantastic game. Just shows how strong Mario & Luigi is as a franchise.
@@superjumpbros64 the way I see it all gameplay is good therefore the only things that matter are how much content there is and the story. I think it’s pretty in the middle of the franchise personally with superstar saga and partners in time being below it
@Thelegendaryredlegend I love it. The only thing that holds it back for me is the pacing. It’s the only game in the series I felt like dragged on a bit. In a series with no bad games, it’s super hard to put things low! Dream Team and Partners in Time are about equal to me. Could have gone either way.
6:50 I have always remembered Stuffwell! He’s my favorite character besides the bros, and Professor E Gadd in the Mario and Luigi series. He’s the best companion character not only in tutorials but he’s a freaking walking talking suitcase who stores your items, and has high-tech features like no other companion character such as a means to communicate with others and plugs into computers. He’s like R2-D2 but more polite (unlike Starlow. She’s used WAY too much in the series and I don’t like how she’s annoyed by Luigi). Stuffwell is the best and he needs to make a comeback!
My ranking: 1. Partners in Time - I love its story; it’s nothing like any other Mario game. The gameplay is great, especially the battles, and the items are super fun to use. 2. Bowser’s Inside Story - I like the mechanic of switching between the Bros and Bowser. The battles are awesome, especially the giant Bowser fights, and the minigames are really fun too. 3. Brothership - The newest game in the series, and I don’t get why people hate it. Sure, the beginning is slow, but once you progress, you’ll completely change your mind. The game is amazing, with new ideas never before seen in the series, like the ship system to travel between islands. The battles are fun, and I loved the plugs mechanic; it reminded me of the badges in Paper Mario. The bosses are all incredible. Even though you can’t choose different spots to hit the enemy anymore, the new Luigi Logic idea was genius and added a fresh twist to battles. 4. Superstar Saga - A classic game that started everything and gave the series its charm. The gameplay, characters, worlds, and music are all wonderful. The 3DS version is great, too, but I prefer the original because of its unique art style. 5. Dream Team - Dream Team is a fantastic game that gave Luigi the spotlight he deserves. I loved the Luiginary mechanics, but the game feels like one giant tutorial and can be slow. That said, the battles are incredibly fun, and Giant Luigi was awesome. Antasma had so much potential but sadly didn’t get enough development. 6. Paper Jam - A crossover between the two series, but I feel like they didn’t execute it properly. It’s a fun Mario & Luigi game, but it feels the least original since it reuses a lot of elements from Dream Team.
My personal list is 6) Paper Jam 5) Partners in Time 4) Super Star Saga 3) Brothership 2) Bowser’s Inside Story 1) Dreamteam I think all of them are really fun to play and frankly this list can easily change (at least for the top 4) but I would say none of these games are bad. The main reason I put dreamteam above inside story is that for me it takes all of the things it had and bumps it up. The dreamy areas are an improvement to the inside areas of bowser, the giant battles are more refined, the areas, the attacks, the bro moves, the beans. The only thing I would say that inside story has over dreamteam is the villain, but as great as fawful is, he is not enough to make it the top. That’s my two cents.
HAHAHA AT 6:32 i knew you were refering to the ''BABIES!'' line as soon as you mentioned what your favorite charles voice line was i said out loud BABIES! as well- 😂That's my favorite mario line as well!
Remaking Bowsers Inside Story is about as unnecessary as remaking The Lion King, and it genuinely infuriates me that destroy the dark power and a fateful clash weren’t in the original game imagine how awesome they would have sounded if they were
Yeah Partners in Time would have been so much better to remake. Those songs were easily the best part of the remake! I'd love to hear a really good fan composition in the original games soundfont for those. Glad Yoko Shimomura could bless us with two more bangers in Alphadream's final game.
@ I highly recommend you listen to T-Bone 2’s version of those songs, it’s exactly how I would imagine they would have sounded in the original game, it captures the intense sound perfectly
I still don't get why the remake of Bowser's Inside Story is so hated. Coming from someone who's actually played it - which is something most people hating this game haven't done - at its best is Bowser's Inside Story with better graphics, better music and a well written side story (Bowser Jr. Journey), at its worst... It's still Bowser's Inside Story, with slightly slower gameplay. Seriously, I can't take people seriously when they're main critique is "boo-ooh, they changed the title screen"
@@Marowak31 Someone else in the comments put it pretty well. It’s like remaking The Lion King. Just completely unnecessary. I do stand by what I said in the video though. People are we too hard on it. It’s a perfectly fine way to play the game.
@AustinSalyer I do agree that the remake is completely unnecessary - but it's not like it's offensive to the original or anything. I like to think of the game as a sort of memento from Alphadream, since they were going down no matter what - they had already accumulated too much debts at that point.
I have every Mario and Luigi made even the remakes. There were some things I thought Nintendo missed the opportunity. 1. Adding Wart from Mario Bros 2 to Dream Team. 2. I liked the last game. I loved the gameplay, the music too (my favorite is Dream Team). But I think the story is one of the worst (although I really liked the ending). The story doesn't advance at all, except for the ending. The series is characterized by chaotic and constantly advancing story and this last one fails in that. The problem of the separated islands doesn't feel real, nobody in the world seems to really care and it's certainly not a problem for Mario and Luigi, they want to help but it's not their problem. And everything that comes from the Mushroom Kingdom feels flat, generic Toads and everything involving Bowser and Peach is very poor. And well, the performance completely affects the gaming experience, there are continuous fps drops.
@@Jarlgame I think the story is more character focused this time around for sure. Definitely a different direction. It landed for me but I can see how it wouldn’t for others. And yeah the performance is Brotherships biggest flaw for me. Really hoping it gets fixed on Switch 2.
