It’s 2024 and I still get twisted up with the emotional intensity of this beautiful song! Timeless treasure! Saw Spiderman on Broadway right after Reeve had left the show…Hope to meet him some day. The man has PRESENCE.
Do you remember where you were when you first heard this song? They used to play it at Kohls for some reason when I worked there, like 9 years ago. It got stuck in my head and I loved it ever since.
@@yourenotspecial3735i remember where i was when i first heard this song...at the spiderman turn off the dark musical 😂😂😂 i was probably about 12 then, good times. was obsessed with this song along with my schoolmates
This song is amazing. Bono & The Edge did a great job with the music for the show. Reeve Carney has an amazing voice and makes this song incredible. I saw the show back in October, and it was awesome! The chemistry of the cast (and especially the Spidermen zooming through the air) made it unforgettable! My friends and I had this song stuck in our heads for at least the rest of the week. It is an amazing song, kudos to the cast & crew - it is a musical to marvel at.
Reeve Carney in a few words : Not just a pretty face, he's got one of the best voices I've ever heard. Too bad for music that no one but a few can truly sing nowadays...
I saw Spider Man: Turn off the Dark in NYC back in May this year and I thought it was frickin fantastic! The story, the music, the cast, I loved the whole show. Bought the soundtrack not long after and this song is one of my top favorites. And just wanted to add that Reeve Carney is so hot!! When he first came on stage I was like "Dang! He's hot!" And his voice is so good!
Looks like I'm not the only one who watched this because of Penny Dreadful. I never thought that Reeve Carney's voice can be so awesome! and this song is good!
This.perfectly encapsulates spider man as a character. Peter coming to terms that he can't do everything uncle Ben told him.the whole song is like a back and forth conversation between the two, uncle Ben telling Peter to be the hero everyone knows he is, and Peter saying he cant.
I've never felt attracted to such beautiful men, but there is something about Reeve Carney. I saw him as Dorian Gray, thinking he was too good looking... and he smiled... and I suddenly love this pretty, pretty man... What a smile...
Words cannot express how reeve makes me feel the first time I laid eyes on him I felt a glimpse of clarity and beauty. I have been in a dark place for 3 years now, I am grateful for him and his music.. especially this song.. My eyes are open now thank you reeve♥
@@carolinamendez3785Damn.... Reeves physical appearance had quite the profound effect. When I first laid eyes on him I started to feel what I can only assume was the beginning of the aforementioned glimpse of clarity and beauty. Yet I headed this possible psychological revaluation off at the pass. In a manner of speaking. Some voice in my head, resonating deeply with prophetic overtones, warned of my inability to handle such unfiltered profundity without loosing myself forever in the astral plane. Yet now after reading this comment I feel I may have let my fear rob me of the precious gift Reeves beauty can visit upon those of us who have eyes to see his beauty. (Straight as an arrow btw) so yeah .. we all fucked up from u Reeve. Thanks a lot.
Today I was feeling incredible depression & I had this one phrase from a song stuck in my head all day, & I finally realized it was from this one..I am pretty sure Reeve Carney telling me to "rise up" all day really helped me lol
As an avid fan of the Broadway community, I was always aware of Spiderman Turn Off The Dark, but I never actually had time to check out the songs and the music from the musical, and I actually like it! I'm really one of those musical theatre fans who kind of grow to love most musicals , even when they differ in styles.
There is good left in the world when success happens for good people. I met him on a session 15 years ago and he was playing guitar and doing a bit of backup vocal. Really nice dude. We talked about his time playing with Johnny Lang And how he was working on his own writing. It worked out well! Well done Reeve. You deserve it.
Loved him as Dorian Gray and Riff Raff. Then I remembered I had seen him somewhere else. It was in the Tempest. Hadn't realized that he was the guy who played Spiderman. Very very talented. Can't wait to see what he'll be in next. What draws my eye all the time to him is that particular look he gives. It's in his eyes and then he hits you with that little half smile. It says "I've got a secret" written all over it.

just Bono's voice could turn a normal atmosphere in a magical one....YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY the BEST. I was thinking of you, I mean U2, to sing for my 11th wedding anniversary.IT WOULD BE GREAT, Right? I DON'T THINK I'LL SUCCEED AT THIS INTENTION.
I am in love with his voice!! wow! I had no idea he sang for the Twilight Soundtrack too! I'm here thanks to Penny Dreadful! :) There was talk about doing a movie about Jeff Buckley's life, if that happens I think he would be perfect to play him!! >.
He looks a bit like James Franco here. What a coincidence that James was in Spider-Man also. Heard this song at my work and fell in love with it. It's so funny because I never knew I was singing the wrong words but now I know. Such a beautiful song. I'm gonna have to get it.
I can't help but think this would be a perfect soundtrack for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Such an underrated sequel movie that didn't do very well. Such wasted opportunity for it to end on a cliffhanger and to cancel the 3rd movie. Ok I know that so many people love Tom Holland as Spider-Man. But I unfortunately couldn't do it. I can't stand him as the newest Spider-man. Tobey Maguire is the original classic and Andrew Garfield is the underrated one that I actually enjoyed.
I'm going to NYC in September with my mother and ever since I heard this song on American Idol it has been stuck in my head, I also like Spiderman so I definately take my mom to see it, I read all the negative reviews but after reading to all your comments I will go and watch it.

I had the exact same experience! Saw it on broadway back in the day! Spectacular ❤❤❤❤❤
You went that’s awesome
i still dont understand why this song went unnoticed...
Probably because the musical's mistakes overshadowed what they did right, like this song.
IKR?
It's such an underrated song!

i DISCOVERED IT TONIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME.i LOVE BONO AND U2 BUT i lOVE MOSTLY THE '80s MUSIC.

It was an awesome play........
Bono makes any song sound good. I love his rough voice & this song
Ms Brie I know right? And The Edge's guitar playing through the song is beautiful too!
It’s mostly Reeve but okay 🤧😂😂
Actually it is The Edge 🤫🤫😀
@@carlosbrannan703 Reeve only does the chorus, everything else is Bono. But okay.

I love Reeve Carney's voice. There's this tragic wounded quality to it. And yes he's gorgeous
It's mostly Bono
Hell, Bono can sing the alphabet and I would be entranced. Just simply adore this man ❤️. Isn't it amazing how similar their voices are
This song is underrated
I got goose bumps when Bono started singing.
Bono and Edge, i love their work, they are unique geniuses

Beautiful song, so emotional. Reeve is so amazing and the most humble and sweet person
This song is addictive to listen to.

And you say rise above
Open your eyes up
And you say rise above
But I can’t, I can’t
How long will it take
Before these feelings
Go away
How much longer do I wait
And are there any real answers
Anyway
Your silence in a crowded room
Louder than the loudest tune
I hang on every word
And you say rise above
Open your eyes up
And you say rise above
But I can’t, I can’t
I miss you in everything
I was too fast traveling
To take you in
I know, silence is no crime
Just wish I could hear you fill it up
One more time
Yes, I know what you say to me
Exactly what you say to me
I still hang on every word
And you say rise above
Open your eyes up
And you say rise above
Yourself
In a time of treason
Is there time for trust?
Where there’s no them
Only us
Is there time for reason?
Has your heart had enough
Is it time to let go
And rise above?
And you say rise above
Open your eyes to love
And you say rise above
Yourself
thanks for the lyrics 😘
In a time of treason
