If so, I know why. Religion. The message was corrupted by religion. No one knew that the temple represented Love until now. Well some did. So what about you?

Some people think U2 is(was)always too pretentious. The fact that they think enough of her and know great artists enough to remake a great song into something even greater reinfoced my opinion of them. One of the best bands of all time and especially since the 80s. Them or REM or Talking Heads or The Pixies
I've been a huge U2 fan since 1982 when I first heard of them as a 13 yr old Aussie kid....and then in '83, 'Under a Blood red Sky'...bloody amazing. I watched Live Aid...live, as a 15 yr old - just to see Queen and U2.....I've seen U2 live in concert a few times and I was lucky to see Queen live at Wembley as well, when in the UK playing cricket a couple of years later. I saw U2 on the Pop Mart tour in Brisbane in 1997, when they dedicated this song to Michael Hutchence and yet this may still be my favourite version of this song...MJB is amazing....really, what a bloody voice mate....

Well at least somebody in he comments actually gives credit to the band that wrote the song. Yes I love Mary but after reading the comments you would have thought she wrote the damn song. It’s a little easier to sing a classic song rather than write a classic. Just a tiny tiny bit easier.
@@jbzooropa72 For me the song & lyrics were inexplicably lost from my memory (despite their indisputable brillance), until Mary brought it to another place and infused it with so much life & soul. But re-tracing the story of the song itself (there's a documentary on TH-cam about the band arriving in Berlin to record Achtung Baby in dire need of inspriation), and Mary's later discovery of the song asked to sing it in tribute to Bono (forget the occassion), and her agreement to do so, makes this collaboration seems like a series of miracles to me, for which I am grateful! And I agree the lyrics are spectacular. The use of questions to explore the pathos of the divide and takes ownership (at least in part) - "did I disappoint you? Or leave a bad taste in your mouth? You act like you never had love, and you want me to go without. Did I ask too much? More than alot? You gave me nothing, and that's all I got", and the declaratives pointing to a better mind set: "we're one, but we're not the same, we get to carry each other, carry each other, one" For me Mary carried this song to a place that the original version only dreamed of. No wonder Bono sent her flowers! This collaboration is the very quintessence of the song itself: "We're one, but we're not the same, we get to carry each other ... one"

Mary J is truly wonderful! She can crossover into any genre of music, sing along with any Artist and fill out the musical experience with a sound only she possesses. It must be almost a spiritual experience to collaborate with such a magnificent talent no matter how famous you are.
Completely agree. The serioius of miracles that brought Mary J to this almost forgotten song to do what only she could, is something I am grateful for. She takes a beautiful poem and infuses it with so much passion and soul!! I can't even imagine this song without her version, and all the wonderful covers that it inspired and continues to inspire. Such a beautiful collaboration!

It's a brilliant song that resonates with people that might not necessarily be a fan of either artist. I love U2 and appreciate Mary J. She killed it.....
I love U2. I love Mary. I loved this song when U2 originally released it. I resisted listening to this collab because I thought the original version was a masterpiece and I hate when things are redone that are already perfect. Finally, I listened this for the first time this year. This is amazing.
My sentiments exactly! I remember this song while being in 10th grade…1992 I was and still am inlove with this song….. I just listened to this version a couple of minutes ago and I salute her vocals on this beautiful song.
It's one of the best duets I've ever heard. What a voice you have Mary - it makes me shiver when I hear. The duet took the song to another place ... thank you Mary and thank you to U2 you are both gifted with talented !!

"Unser Herr" ist in j e d e r Religion ! Diesen Song höre ich immer wieder sehr gerne...

Mary J is truly wonderful! She can crossover into any genre of music, sing along with any Artist and fill out the musical experience with a sound only she possesses. It must be almost a spiritual experience to collaborate with such a magnificent talent no matter how famous you are.
Best Band in the World+Best R&B singer=Best Duet Ever.

U2 and Pavarotti + Saravejo
+Vanessa Almeida o que você está insinuando?

Agreed she takes it to another level.
She’s incredible!!

Sing don't holler.
Screeming your ass off is like squeezing a fart out with all your might.
That's not singing.
Control that voice that's singing, the right scales the right notes..

+boogieeck nice perspective, not always easy to notice
@@boogieeck Yes Yes Yes!! Attitude and Mind Set Shift. Intention over Obligation. I feel the same way about this song.
Lyrically it seems like a masterpiece. Questions to explore the pathos of the divide and takes ownership (at least in part) - "did I disappoint you? Or leave a bad taste in your mouth? You act like you never had love, and you want me to go without. Did I ask too much? More than alot? You gave me nothing, and that's all I got", and the declaratives pointing to a better way forward out of bitterness and hate. When I research the way the song came about, Mary heard about it and got involved, it feels like an absolute miracle to me! So much gratitude!
Pura energia dentro do meu ser, arrepia totalmente!🤩🎤🎸🤘🎶💞
OMFG,, truly one of the most beautiful and soul touching songs ever. Equally as powerful the original U2 and U2 & MJB
- this is such a really great song and arrangement - i honestly think this is one of her best performances…. 👏
i would say ... the best. often listenin to it, i drop tears
Her duets with Andrea Bocelli and Wyclef Jean are on level with this one
Goosebumps. This song resonates with the hopeful spirit that still survives aside a tiny candlelight in my withered soul. One song = Universe ✌🏼
It's a brilliant song that resonates with people that might not necessarily be a fan of either artist. I love U2 and appreciate Mary J. She killed it.....
Be brave, stay strong, wait for the signs.
Hope on life support atm.❤
i hope you are ok, love rob
God bless you Mary n Bono for this wonderful contribution to music world. one love
And heaven stood still; so beautiful his voice and the text. He is a tormented soul, I regonice
Show!!!
Mary was feeling the shit out of this song.
Mary J Bilge brings a new level of brilliance to this ........

I love U2. I love Mary. I loved this song when U2 originally released it. I resisted listening to this collab because I thought the original version was a masterpiece and I hate when things are redone that are already perfect. Finally, I listened this for the first time this year. This is amazing.
My sentiments exactly!
I remember this song while being in 10th grade…1992
I was and still am inlove with this song…..
I just listened to this version a couple of minutes ago and I salute her vocals on this beautiful song.
It's one of the best duets I've ever heard. What a voice you have Mary - it makes me shiver when I hear.
The duet took the song to another place ... thank you Mary and thank you to U2
you are both gifted with talented !!
Totally agree. Mary is awesome. Keep returning to this U2 One version. Brilliant!
This is how true artists collaborate, brilliant.

Her voice makes this song Even better than the original version she brings out the passion of the two of them sining together! I have been listening to U2 sense a young teen and Mary sense her First album I believe together They just make the world a better place together..
@@Alitheinvincible Sexy more like strog in a classy classic way.. she delivering a lot of passion on our own are singing what another Shaw's always room for the other person to do the thing after overtaking someone else's by like cuz she doesn't need to she doesn't need to.
This woman’s voice will outlast her!!!!
Mary is a legend, not too many singers can work the original, to come out with a masterpiece as well. Both versions are excellent.
the oriigin was good, but she just takes it to another level
U2+Mary=More Than Legends=Sirs & Lady .
And? I think you’re forgetting a legend? You know, the guy that actually wrote the song?
You mean the same guy who felt privileged to sing it with Mary????@@jbzooropa72

this version with mary is amazing so brutal !!!!!!
Brutal, but in a "Y'all better love each other, or I'm gonna come down there and crack some heads!!" kind of way.

Brings tears to my eyes!!! MJB tore this up!! she matches Bono's fire on this powerful song!!!
Totally agree.
My God I'm still speechless, what a duet and what a performance Mary !!
DAMN her voice is astounding, holding a note with such a powerful voice. Superb 😉
This is a great pairing. I think "One" is U2's best song and the addition of Mary J. Blige just makes it better.
This woman is a hell of a Tsunami, great voice!
sept 2024 and still always a banger
Did I imagine this.........?.......Did Bono sing the opening better than the original ?........... and then Mary came into the song and helped make a classic song truly immortal. I don't think that I have ever heard this song done better than this.

What fantastic lyrics and Mary's voice is so powerful.
Being a die hard U2 fan since the 80's, I wasn't sure if I'd like this. Don't get me wrong, I love Mary as well. Just seemed like an odd mix. Listened to it the first time and realized this version may be the best. Now I've got this on most of my Playlists...........love it❤❤❤

🙏 Hallo,
sehr stark machen
und ihm sehr viel Kraft verleihen...
Die Religion ist völlig egal. ..
"Unser Herr" ist in j e d e r Religion !
Diesen Song höre ich immer
wieder sehr gerne...
Danke an U2 und Mary J. Blige

U are great.

How did you interpret the part where they say "we get to carry each other?"
[Verse 1: Bono]
Is it getting better, or do you feel the same?
Will it make it easier on you now, you got someone to blame?
You say, one love, one life, when it's one need in the night
One love, we get to share it
Leaves you darlin', if you don't care for it
Mary
[Verse 2: Mary J Blige]
Did I disappoint you, or leave a bad taste in your mouth?
You act like you never had love, and you want me to go without?
Well, it's too late tonight to drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to carry each other, carry each other
[Bridge: Bono & Mary J Blige]
One, one
One, one
[Verse 3: Mary J Blige]
Have you come here for forgiveness?
Have you come to raise the dead?
Have you come here to play Jesus to the lepers in your head?
Well did I ask too much, more than a lot?
You gave me nothing, now it's all I got
We're one, but we're not the same
See we hurt each other, then we do it again
You say love is a temple, love is a higher law
Love is a temple, love is a higher law
You ask for me to enter, but then you make me crawl
And I can't keep holding on to what you've got, cause all you got is hurt
[Verse 4: Bono & Mary J Blige]
One love, one blood, one life, you got to do what you should
One life with each other, sisters and my brothers
One life, but we're not the same
We get to carry each other, carry each other
One, one
One, one
One, one
[Outro]
One love, one love
"ONE LOVE ONE LOVE"
"ONE"
THERE'S TWO VERSIONS OF THIS VIDEO LOVE THIS ONE
