100%. It’s absolutely brilliant. Especially the acoustic version that they did live in some pub in Ireland when it was first released. It’s bouncing around TH-cam somewhere. It’s my favorite version of this song.
20 years, I can't believe it.....this is not one of the best of U2,songs this is one of the best songs of the last 20 years, ever.....uffff a real matserpice, epic
I like that they have him in the video, as most people know the lyrics were taken from his book “Ground Beneath Her Feet” so he’s listed as co-writer of the song
I re-visited the movie today, August 3 2024, and although I do agree it could’ve been a good movie, it’s full of flaws that hindered its success. The main one, from my perspective, is the lack of a true narrative. Too many side-stories which do not add anything to the main plot and a confusing narrative made the movie vague and hard to make the viewer have some emotional connection to it. Also, most of the acting is of dubious quality. It’s almost like they tried a new on-camera acting approach which did not work.
Salman Rushdie is fantastic, I like watching his gentle face and his smart eyes. Great books he has written and very nice verses. U2 made this song a masterpiece. Cheers to everyone!
Daniel Lanois' lap steel guitar parts are absolutely entrancing - great player in his own right and clearly a hell of a producer. This is in my top 5 U2 songs, for sure!
One of U2’s greatest hidden gems! A proper U2 track which burns slowly before crashing into an explosive outro! Edge’s guitar tone is bang on point from 2:35 onwards here! 🤘🏻
ESta cancion debio salir oficialmente en el disco, y deberian de tocarla en vivo muy seguido, es una pena que hasta ellos la dejaran tan en el olvido siendo tan grandiosa!!

All my life, I worshiped her Her golden voice, her beauty's beat How she made us feel, how she made me real And the ground beneath her feet And the ground beneath her feet And now I can't be sure of anything Black is white, and cold is heat For what I worshiped, stole my love away It was the ground beneath her feet It was the ground beneath her feet Go lightly down your darkened way Go lightly underground I'll be down there in another day I won't rest until you're found Let me love you, let me rescue you, Let me bring you where two roads meet Oh come back above, where there is only love Only love My oh my, my oh my My oh my, my oh my My oh my, my oh my My oh my, my oh my My oh my, my oh my Let me love you true, let me rescue you, Let me bring you to where two roads meet Let me love you true, let me rescue you, Let me bring you to where two roads meet My oh my, my oh my My oh my, my oh my My oh my, my oh my.
This is one of my top 10 U2 songs ever...and that is a very difficult top 10 to make...one that reminds me of my early 20s, brought me to tears, gave me hope and musically is one of the best Larry Mullen drum patterns ever....just love it

In 1995 I began working as a Sound Mixer Post Production for the Second Film in my sound career. It was a Grungy old hotel that had been transformed into Low Income Housing called The Rosslyn Hotel in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles.. The hotel was also known as The Million Dollar Hotel. I had a profound dream about this hotel months before I ever knew anything about it. In the dream I saw Bars on doors, windows, just about everything as I went Floor to Floor. I had no idea what it was in my dream when I awoke and was super confused. Months later I get the job for a film that was to shoot on a Soundstage for 2 weeks then on location at what turned out to be The Rosslyn. I almost fell on the floor when I first stepped into the hotel then went floor to floor where each floor was seperated by Barred Gates just like it was in the dream.. I'll never forget that Film Shoot that seemed to go on forever and looking down on Skid Row and how sad it was to see so many in such poverty. The Rosslyn was later bought by investors and transformed into the upscale Rosslyn Lofts but still to this day has The Million Dollar Hotel famous sign from the ealry 1900s on top of it. u2 performed Where The Streets Have No Name near the Rosslyn back in the late 80s in an Iconic Video and The Million Dollar Hotel sign can be seen behind The Edge in that video for some cool U2 Video Cross reference
A beautiful work of art. The book, the poetry, the movie, the song, the arrangements, the orchestra..Probably one of the last times U2 did something as meaningful and visceral as this.

Did you know U2 the entire time just not that this is their song?
It was in 2000 this song was released. You were at least 13 then…? 😊
I remember buying this album and I loved it but this song became a bit of an obsession. Such a great song.
Seems that we all have stories about searching for things - at least some songs - for a half of life... ))

If the movie had been more successful this song would be more widely known. One of their best songs and criminally underrated. Still gives me chills

Yep
Great song about loving and rescuing each other
All my life, I worshiped her
Her golden voice, her beauty's beat
How she made us feel, how she made me real
And the ground beneath her feet
And the ground beneath her feet
And now I can't be sure of anything
Black is white, and cold is heat
For what I worshiped, stole my love away
It was the ground beneath her feet
It was the ground beneath her feet
Go lightly down your darkened way
Go lightly underground
I'll be down there in another day
I won't rest until you're found
Let me love you, let me rescue you,
Let me bring you where two roads meet
Oh come back above, where there is only love
Only love
My oh my, my oh my
My oh my, my oh my
My oh my, my oh my
My oh my, my oh my
My oh my, my oh my
Let me love you true, let me rescue you,
Let me bring you to where two roads meet
