Using the ESC controller 20A the third one. Do you need to power the receiver separately? cos i have an old receiver 2 channels that have a 2 pin battery socket to connect the bateries. But i really don't know if the ESC controller can provide power to the receiver via the standar 3 pin servo connector. Thanks!
PS: i don't want to power two things at the same time and make a mistake.

You need a compatible receiver.
Most of the time you are going to use the same name brand. There is more to it then that. Search protocols.
Simply put they dont all talk the same language even if they are the same name brand.
It would not do you any good to have the extra channel on a reciever, if your transmitter only puts out 2 channels.
Sometimes people do use the extra channels to run lights.
