- My first NCY CDI Test was on a stock 150 Chuckus Maddog. Now after many mods I am trying the CDI box again on the same IceBear scooter to see if is truly a performance part.

We thank you 1:53 woooow I never knew
Wow thanks for the explanation i always wondered how the helll a cdi could advance timing
6:20 thats an awesome explanation, thanks 👍
Thanks
Another helpful thorough
step by step explanation for stock versus aftermarket upgrade.👍👍
Thanks
I love that you are actually testing this shit out.
Thanks. I try and test everything on its own if possible.
Thank you sir... another excellent vid. Didn't look the product up since it's a rip off but I'm guessing they probably charge around 150-200$ for this bs...smh
Only $60, but everyone thinks they are the 1st must have mod.
Have you tried testing out a different coil? I watch a few chainsaw builders who do custom porting as well as "race" models. They've mentioned how some models of chainsaw from factory have a governed coil on them that only allows them to turn so fast at full rpm. So they'll swap out a coil of a similar form from a different model of saw that isn't RPM limited. Since they're going for performance that's meant to get through wood fast they tend to aim for 12,000 rpm while in the cut. So I don't know if the same logic works with scooter/power sports coils.
Haven't tried any yet. I know coils like on a preditor 212 can have a rev limiter. My ghost 212 had one. I don't think our GY6s have rev limited coils tho. Biggest issue I have run into with RPM limitations is valve float
@@tedowen409 Understandable. More revs needing stronger valves to help keep things in sync.
If you ever test any coils give the yellow Nibbi coils a try. I'm curious about the results. They're one of my favorite China-parts, They feel decently made for the money.
I put one on my China dual-sport bike and it feels strong with good revs and spark. But who knows I could be experiencing the ole placebo effect. :)
@@Slane583 good to know. I did get some "performance" valve springs and gonna do a video on them and try some above 10k RPMs. See if it blows up. LOL
@@tedowen409 If there's no metallic engine confetti in the end that just means you succeeded. :)
You need a better ignition coil for you to fully utilize a performance CDI.
Interesting idea. I may have to test that theory. 🤔
63-70 mph depending on the day sounds like your AFRs are not quite right
Mine does the same going from 12.7-12.8 to 13-13.1
Crazy how much you can gain or lose with such a small change
Well my road I test on can have a headwind or tail wind, in florida we can go from 0% to 100% humidity and that robs power faster temperature. And of course the temperature will be 70s some days and 90s others... so that throws it all off. I just like to do base run 1st so I eliminate any of those factors. It did do 70 again tho as my gopro speedo is 1mph slow for some reason compared to my phone apps. But I do want to buy a wideband AFR and compare computer tune vs human tune. That will make a great video. I have no doubt the computer is gonna win that one. LOL
Did you try rolling wrench cdi?
You talking about that CVI $150 one? Not yet, but I have my eye on it
Hey bruh is it common if someone bought a maddog an the harness wires don't match color
For sure. I have different colors on 2 of mine. The main colors like solid yellow, solid black, green and red seem consistent... but others dont
I just ordered a new complete kit . Wasn't from parts for scooters. Sorry. The description said for a tao tao vip. Obviously not a maddog. I think mistakes were made on my bike before I even got it. Not saying I didn't make my own but...
Great content, best scooter channel going!
@seanmayo206 should work fine. I think the main stuff is universal when it comes to colors. Just have to figure out blinker and brake etc colors
@scooterarmy always thanks brother. Love your channel also.
Is this a 150cc why is the engine mount on the bottom ??
I'm riding and testing a 150. I just had that 50 taken apart at the moment so using it to show the flywheel degrees. 2 different bikes. I'm gonna a test that CDI and 2 other ones on the 50 when I get it back together.
@tedowen409 I have a 150 I hit 60 top have that cdi and Yoshimura exhaust 11 pole stator 30mm carb uni air filter and the ncy super transmission kit with 12 gram sliders 1500 yellow torque spring ...i have the 171cc ncy BBK with A12 cam and new pwk carb but I need to have it installed
@johnathan1361 cool. Take out that CDI and get 1 more mph. LOL. If you watch my 171 test... ONLY the 20cc more is only worth 2mph, but it gets a lot quicker. How many RPMs are you turning? That A9 likes high RPM.. like 9500.
Plug fires before TDC!!!
Yep. That's advanced. Did I indicate otherwise?
