I found the solution for original back up camera issue. Go to more app , car info , general setting's, rear camera type, original rear camera. Hope it works for you too
I have a 2015 428i non-M Sport line grancoupé with NBT idrive operating system. The Xtrons OS and CarPlay work great and recognizes when I have doors/trunk open and tracks my vehicle speed and miles to empty. However, when I switch to oem idrive, the screen goes black. Without access to oem idrive I cannot use my rear camera, hear any audio, or access vehicle information. I double checked all connections and transferred the optic fiber cable to the new harness. Please let me know if you can help. TIA. I am currently using CAN 176.bmw and I have tried every resolution setting.
Hi, Ayy, after I watched this video, I bought and installed the Xtrons head unit on my 2016 BMW 428i. On the other hand, as you mentioned, the head unit can not detect the OEM reserve camera signal. Would you please teach me how to fix it? Appreciate. Daniel
CarLetter app (CarPlay) does not run at a native 2560x720 resolution resulting in the blurry UI. Not sure about Android Auto, but given that CarPlay/AA is probably going to be the most used feature on these screens, this is a huge miss. Can't believe you did not notice this in your review. Returning mine.
It was blurry enough for me. Can’t believe this was not mentioned in any of the reviews. You can use carlinkit dongle that is a deducated CarPlay dongle for Android. It then makes you realize even more how good CarPlay in the native resolution looks like! But then you lose physical controls. Carlinkit does allow to program physical controls (in beta) but the unit interferes with it. For example, I was able to program scrolling left and right, but pressing on the iDrive controller takes you out of the app. It really is a hot mess. Get a Linux screen if you want a bigger screen. If you’re happy with your existing screen and want CarPlay, get an MMI box.

I'm due for an upgrade on my 2014 F10 but would prefer something that doesn't block my view of the road. safety over aesthetics. please let me know if I am wrong about the possible obstruction from a drivers perspective.

I installed the system and managed to get the audio working, but it’s configured with a non-BMW setup (Inveco48v). However, this configuration causes me to lose iDrive controls on the center console. The other setting 176 works with I drive but then I lose the sound. I have the sound working but no I drive controls and my car info app does not load. I got it to work!!! My car is a 4 series and under submenu BMW 176 scroll down to EVO 4. Everything started working even the Car info app. The car audio kept switching to the old radio when playing music only played the radio. Went into the car info and changed the car audio switching. (RESOLVED) Love it!!!! ❤
I have a E92 with the ccc system. All is working including the oem original menu. The only thing is that my iDrive control is not working - do you have any idea? I think it has to switch from cic to ccc but I can not find. On oem menu the controls works perfect but on android side its not working correct.
I didn’t install my mic either. Just when a call comes in I select the bmw as the output. Works fine, then when I’m done I switch audio back to CarPlay. Not a huge inconvenience, also I don’t have to have the ugly supplied mic
@@crombieguyjb it’s a huge inconvenience especially when you’re driving. You can run the mic to the pillar and tuck it in the corner and never have to worry about it instead of clicking different sound options

Is it extremely disabled? For example can you connect say a game pad to it easily? 5) Do they offer a 360 camera feature? 6) Does it have a sim card / memory card slot? I have this unit and i love it the only thing is how do you get the 360 camera system to work. I have the 12 pin connector pluged in for all 4 cameras to connect to. I recently found the hidden menu and have tried to video about it but no one has a video on it. I think i might have accidentally deleted the app but when i went to the hidden menu and tired to follow this one video now the car icon comes up but it keeps flickering idk if i have the screen ratio set wrong or what? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

What resolution did you choose for the iDrive? I have 2014 535i F10 so thinking it will be same as yours. I’m presently in “auto” but have made the other changes and it’s not quite as good as yours.

How long does the unit take to boot into Carplay after startup? My worry with this versus a Linux unit is, I want to get in and input my destination quickly. Not to have to wait 55 seconds sitting there idling.
@@TheHerokid672 it’s pretty quick. I have a few cars with factory CarPlay and even those don’t boot up right away. This one is pretty similar, maybe a little slower but not a deal breaker for me personally
You will have to disable the "disable video in motion" setting (it is there to not distract the driver), but after that you can play yt just like on your phone (or through it xD). I had my default screen also on video in motion disabled, but I am not sure if that is a requirement or if the xtrons unit overrides it. (If it is required you will need an obd2 scanner/coder like carly or bimmercode)
Is car play part of the unit itself or does the car have to have carplay? Considering buying this for my F13 because i have the super small screen without carplay etc.

@ayyyman_ for Bluetooth audio rather than aux, are you saying you were able to pair the head unit to BMW's bluetooth? I've been trying to do just that with my unit but it never prompts to confirm the passkey on the head unit side.

They come with an aux line that you're gonna need to run to your aux port under/through your center console

That sounds like there might be a wiring issue. Did you transfer the fiber optic cable? The blue one from your original harness to the new harness
