- What is the difference between BMW Android GPS Screen and BMW Linux CarPlay screen? 7 Difference between BMW Android & Linux CarPlay screen: They are :
1) Boot time, Linux have advantage (about 5-8 seconds boot time)
2) Android screen allow to install Apps
3) Android screen allow for internet connection (wifi , 4G LTE)

The Linux version is way better and runs smoothly. The android version has a nice of extras that you don’t need.
I would buy a system like this for the CarPlay and screen mirror. I don’t need the system to have all these apps and dingdongs at all, the apps I need are on the iPhone..
Does the bluetooth/cable connection ever disconnect? Also, what about sunny days? My android screen absolutely fails those days, reboots and sh*t all the time
How do you reset it. Mine was working fine for months then went black and won’t turn on
Heard of this issue. That’s one of the critical points against the Linux operating screens. Heard someone retrofitted a plug for the 12v behind the main unit to reset it when it crashes

Yes you can you’re using the original Bluetooth connection. I used my original car’s Bluetooth with the Linux screen

Can a “Mercedes Benz” boot image be placed on the Linux screen? In other words, order it from the factory with that animated Mercedes startup boot? It would be much better and more personalized.
As a aftermarket product, to use “ Mercedes “ or other car brand is in trouble in law , can not do that. These brand have its owners.

You forgot to mention that these Android touchscreen systems do not support USA LTE bands, like Band 13 (Verizon uses it) so it makes such connectivity useless for any US customer.

Will linux screen work with entrynav head unit? I have entrynav headunit with 6.5" screen in bmw 3 f31 2017
( Entrynav headunit is like basic function only, and it exist in europe market only, is not profesional level headunit like NBT, but use same video cable and it is possible to use original display from nbt on entrynav head unit (requires coding on headunit for bigger resolution))
It can not , for now only for CIC and NBT , not for EVO , the EVO not available yet

How many usb connection do theses headunits have? Do they make a Linux version of the Snapdragon 685 Pro Ultra thin model?
2 USB , Linux is a cheaper solution, it not use S685 pro models
Can the S685 connect to the factory BMW rear entertainment system?

With the original system, when I start the car and put it in reverse gear, I immediately get the rearview camera. How does it work with the Android version? Does the OEM part work immediately, or is it waiting for Android?
The camera will work immediately, no matter in original menu or in android menu
I have an E70 CIC and evaluating both Android and Linux upgrade. I only need AppleCarplay so Linux seems a better fit. However cannot understand if GPS signal is the one from iPhone only for Linux and does not use OEM one. Can you help?
When you using the CarPlay , it use your iPhone navigation, it has nothing to do with your OEM GPS
