Even though the m340i costs a bit more to run for 3 years, you get sooo much more for your money which is why it’s the best pick. 520d is best if you have a family. Let’s be honest though - we all want the M4 CS 😅
The M340i is a much better option and the B58 engine is an absolute peach which on a lazy motorway run will actually return 40+ mpg. I know, I've done it!
I don’t like the fact that so many people care about depreciation so much these days. If you just buy the car, run it till it dies and then scrap it, you don’t have to worry about depreciation. That’s what my mum did with her old Subaru Tribeca. She bought it new in 2010, drove it 220,000km until it developed an engine problem and then had it scrapped. Other members of my family have done the same. I don’t understand why everyone wants the newest and best things so often anymore. With cars, just buy something that you like, drive it until it can drive no more, have it scrapped and then buy something else. Sorry for the rant
This was my logic when I bought a second-hand 7 Series. Sure, it's going to depreciate, but I'm intending to keep it for at least a decade (as I did with my E46), so I don't care 😁
Life’s too short to drive around in the same car for 10yrs, and as others have said the running costs start ramping up after a few miles and once that warranty has expired, you’re on your own with an old, complicated and incredibly expensive car to maintain and run that is probably past its best.
It also depends on your priorities. For example I really enjoy Cars and I like to have something somewhat modern. So Running a car until it’s scrap isn’t really appealing.
@@SuperOrbit69 But, on the flip side, I don't want a G70 7 Series because they're not aesthetically appealing to me. I can also get an extended warranty if I want to 😁

Why aren't you more famous?!
I love this video! Keep doing this
Absolutely love this concept for a video !! Could you do it with entry level brand new models from OTHER brands? :)
Why cars in the UK depreciate so fast? You can’t find a M4 CS for less than 75k EUR here.

To be the only reason for car guys to like UK
@@B1SHA-z5kto be fair there aren't any other reasons to like the UK.

The 340i is ultimately the best choice, balance between price, practicality, performance comfort, and overall appealing 👍👍
340i the best choice, reliable engine compared with m4, most probably no other hidden costs in the next 3 years. A 320d also will be for sure cheaper than the 1 seris, but I have doubts on the reliability side with it, as with the 5 series. (Timing chain, dpf & other)
For sure more of this series!
