I have a line shaped crack in my bumper that hasn't cracked all the way open to an edge, but is growing over time. I think I'm gonna try this.
great result. Can get smoother results if you use spot putty before you prime. Also the sanding should have started with 80 grit for the bondo to stick the best. Still worked i see but we shouldnt jump from 80 to 320, but go from 80- 180-320- 400 This ensures the 80 is erased by 180, and 180 erased by 320, and the paint sticks to 400 just fine. otherwise it was still good. I'd recommend fiberglass sheets since they are like 3$ from walmart. And also epoxy gorilla glue @ 5$ Still not hating on your video bro!
Most channels would have made this into a 30 minute video. Thank you so much for not doing that. It's to the point but still has all the information and demonstrations. Awesome.
I love how short the video it is, it gets to the point, and now I’m confident I can do it to my own bumper, of course you have more skill. But I got motivation now!
+Soggy Car I'm sure you can do it! The worse that can happen is your just left with the same crack in the bumper you started with... Just make sure to use the right plastic filler and not Bondo like I did.
Excellent job on the prep fitting the pieces together. So many people fail at using products like this because they don't prep the joining pieces correctly.
Don’t know if you’ll see this comment or not but man I really appreciate your video. I have a bumper cover to repair and now I know how thank you for your time and your work on the video.
Quality content and perfect execution of the steps. People who critize how you used epoxy instead of welding the plastic are ignorant. The stress that a good epoxy can take will easily surpass the plastic they use in car parts. Thanks for educating us, the fiberglass was a good tip
After water a trillion trillion videos.. I chose this one to follow step by step. My bumper was completely in two pieces and so far it’s coming along well.. I’m currently waiting for it to dry so I can sand and pain it. Thanks so much
Excellent video from a lady who has had the same bumper repaired by a repair shop twice. The car is old now, so I refused, invest the money. The car just sits too low to the ground. A simple pothole, or a parking lot stopper is enough to cause a headache.
Wow you are a magician by making that crack disappear! Excellent effort in the bumper as well as creating/editing the video. Thanks for sharing and I'll follow your steps as I have a few cracks to fill. Keep up the fantastic work!
From an engineering perspective, sharp edges are stress concentrations since it's a function of the inverse radius. At the edge of a crack the radius is zero which means stress approaches Infiniti. When you drill a hole you effectively made the crack's radius the same as the radius as the drill bit, which is far greater than the almost zero radius of the crack. The only thing I would add is, always drill a 0.125-in hole at the apex of a split (crack) prior to epoxy application. Great job. Great results. I hope your repair holds up.
Good video, but from my experience, the Bondo can initially be leveled with careful use of a spatula, eliminating the need for extensive sanding, and leaving as much of the original surface intact as possible.
Thank you for your response. There have been a couple of delays while my car was in the shop to fix a no start problem I couldn't fathom and I'm waiting on the mail order delivery of the JB Weld that so impressed me. +Matt Stearns Thanks! All the best on your repair. My only suggestion would be to Make sure you get the correct plastic body filler, otherwise there will be a fine crack where the two parts join. Bondo doesn't adhere well to plastic.

speedkar99 I guess you're right about that. There is a liquid two part plastic. Just like the JB weld. You put it on a piece of plastic like a sandwich bag. Mix it and push it against the bumper. Repairing my 05 Scion Xb and the front bumper needs some work since my brother had a fender bender. There are few cracks held on by zipties but I want to repair the cracks and restore the paint. This really is helpful and will be put into good use
Hi it's not a ideal bumper repair. If you use epoxy on thermo plastic make the surface really rough almost hairy then oxidate the hairy surface with heat quickly with a flame torch for example that will increase the bond a lot. The epoxy is much harder then the bumper material. So the to different plastic don't cooperate well. There is another very easy way to repair a bumper that I prefer. Fix the bumper like you did and use a solder iron to melt the bumper together from the inside. If a small piece of bumper material is missing you can use a part from another bumper as a plastic welding rod or to increase the welding joint if needed. I saved a fortune on repairing bumpers like this and the bumpers was broken up till 4 pieces.

Awesome job! I have a small crack in my front bumper. Can a decent job of repairing it be done without removing the bumper? Also, what is the exact name of "the correct plastic filler" you mentioned below? You never said.
These ripoff body shop people here in Canada are charging upwards 600 dollar to repair something like this . Good job man , you’re saving a lot of people a lot of money
Epoxy wont stick on that ABS. Itll fall off a few weeks after. The proper way to repair this is using a soldering iron and melting the plastic together or ursing special 2k abs filler/glue (like WURTH replast).
I really appreciate your detail, but your videos don't drag out for 20 unnecessary minutes. They're short, sweet, and complete. Thanks for another great video.

You missed to do the most important thing: a hole at crack end to avoid It to expand!
Yes good tip!

Matt Bolt drilling a small hole at the end of the crack helps from keeping the cracked area to keep cracking due to tension.
Million dollar suggestion
From an engineering perspective, sharp edges are stress concentrations since it's a function of the inverse radius. At the edge of a crack the radius is zero which means stress approaches Infiniti.
When you drill a hole you effectively made the crack's radius the same as the radius as the drill bit, which is far greater than the almost zero radius of the crack. Therefore the stresses in that region are a finite amount, and the bumper crack is less likely to propagate.

He used regular 400grit sandpaper, not wet sand paper... then he did actually wet it, but it didnt change the look of the paper. Look again.
Best video ever stright to the point but covers everything in detail.
That's my style. Thanks
LOL why didn't he groove the front side ? it will bust the filler out with vibration .
that filler will crack anyways on plastic bumper...
you just saved me so much money i am confident i can repair my car myself now Thank you!
I recently got into accident.. The front bumper was damaged.. Maybe it could be repaired if i had seen your vid.. But i changed to a cheaper bumper..
I usually speed up videos x1.25 to get to the point faster. Your video is awesome and didnt need to speed up as you get to the point without bs pretty fast. Great work. Great video. Thanks for the tips :)
Glad it helped
i love how much he says “crack”

Nice video. Parking brick ripped the bottom of my bumper cover to shreds... for a 160k mile vehicle this level of job will certainly work just fine
Thank you very much for this clear instruction. I order a body kit from ebay but the packaging was bad the body kit ended up being broken.
+jin5632 oh wow, that sucks. All the best on your repair.
You needed a repair kit for the body kit haha
Awesome job! I have a small crack in my front bumper. Can a decent job of repairing it be done without removing the bumper? Also, what is the exact name of "the correct plastic filler" you mentioned below? You never said.
Thanks this is what i shall be doing after hitting a kerb.I shall use fibreglass on the inside where it can't be seen. Thanks for a great video.
+Marc Law I'm glad you found it helpful, post up your results when your all done.
These ripoff body shop people here in Canada are charging upwards 600 dollar to repair something like this . Good job man , you’re saving a lot of people a lot of money
Get a used bumper $60 junkyard
Epoxy wont stick on that ABS. Itll fall off a few weeks after. The proper way to repair this is using a soldering iron and melting the plastic together or ursing special 2k abs filler/glue (like WURTH replast).
That's a good tip
The epoxy he used is a 2k abs filler/ glue.
I really appreciate your detail, but your videos don't drag out for 20 unnecessary minutes. They're short, sweet, and complete. Thanks for another great video.
Bumper god, is that you?!!
+Unlimited Progress No but I can show you how to patch your bumper
