This, coupled with another video - loosening, snugging broken tab in, and tightening the screw on the tab bracket- helped my son save $1400 on a loose bumper of a10 year old Lexus. Thanks so much!
TIP: Firstly thanks so much for the clear instructions. I just finished my repair. Try carefully peeling the masking tape away when the glue is 2/3rds dry. I did this on the second side and had perfect results. First side i has the same tearing as in the video and has to use a razor blade to finish the tape removal. Rather than duct tape, i just help the bumper in place with my hands (actually a leaned my whole body into it and used my hands). The bumper was not a nicely refitted as in the video so duct tape would never have worked.

I was really annoyed to think it could not be repaired. Anyway got a friend to help me do this gluing & it is fixed. I am so happy!
I found an easier way! If you remove some of the clips holding the plastic liner of the wheel well, so you can get access to the 'inside' of the quarter panel, you can reach in, pull off what's left of the old broken bumper clips, and insert a ZIP TIE there instead. You then thread the length of zip tie to the hole on the bumper and bring it around to the other part of the zip tie where the hole is. You then pull up the excess length of the zip tie, pulling up the bumper, and that's it, fixed.

I dont agree that car with over 170 thousand miles has 3 more years left remaining. I owned a 95, 96 Civic and 2005 Accord and they are all still running with almost 200,000 miles.
The Switz, I own and drive a 2002 Jeep Wrangler, 1995 Ford F-150 and 1992 Mazda Miata. They each have 165-185k miles and still run strong! There is the trade off of more maintenance and repairs, but it’s still cheaper than buying one 50-$60,000 New truck.
@@billytrevathan6405 You got that right! And if you do your own maintenance with cheap parts it won't cost you that much. And the great thing about a 20 year old car with 200,000 miles on it is that you are not likely to "ruin" it if you make a mistake.
The Switz I just had a clutch put in the Miata for $500 total, parts and labor. Well, I know a good mechanic that is semi-retired and is great for jobs I don’t want to do myself. My wife was telling me about a friend that had to pay just to get on a waiting list for the new vehicle of their choice, then pay more than msrp when it came in! It’s crazy what people are paying for new vehicles. Most modern vehicles are just getting started at 100,000 miles, as long as they are maintained properly and have not been driven in the city on short commutes for many years.
Your so cool! I’m an Uber driver and people constantly tell me I’m ruining my car. By driving people around is all I’m good at so I’m kind of stuck driving this car way over most peoples annual mileage.
You can also remove the plastic piece with the broken clips and repair that with jb weld or even better replace it with a piece from the junk yard. Also a Toyota with 175k easily has another 100k miles on it if it has been well maintained.
Yea man 170k is nothing.. my moms Toyota is over 200k with little maintenance, still going strong. And I have a 2002 Mazda P5 at 180k still drive her like she's brand new . These early year Japanese cars can make it to 300k+ EASILY . These aren't domestic cars 🤣

Thank you so much. Fiat 500 has a flex seam between the bottom side of the bumper and the upper bumper that easily breaks if you bottom out on a curb. I was able to fix the break point. Thank you!
If you 'have' to take the bumper off again sometime soon, probably don't use this method. This is good if you want to save buying a whole new bumper. Like he said, only for cars with a 3 year life span. But it can be removed with heat and isopropyl alcohol.

@@rcharding Not true. You can: Drill two holes in hidden places and zip tie it, and then just cut and reziptie for use. Get bumper quick release (Can be hidden, too) If there's too much material lacking you can "weld" plastic on plastic by melting it together. Then use any method you prefer, including the original one. Chances are you can't clip it back on because somewhere the plastic has broken off. This hacky job in the video that looks worse than ziptie is one of the worst you can do imo.
My bumper got caught on my dad’s trailer hitch. Probably a curb or two since I lived in the city a few years ago. The auto body places will only replace the entire bumper, which would be crazy expensive and probably not be the same color as my car. Just for the clips! Thanks for the adhesive recommendation, the other one I tried cracked off already. Not too concerned about it looking perfect but the painters tape trick is a great idea as well.
would that blue tape will come off and loosen because that's the only contact grip on the surface of the tab and JB weld is in between the two tape. So basically the blue tape is the one holding the bumper gap? Was that strong enough.. I'm kinda amazed and wondering

Holy shit dude, thank you so much. Just got into an accident, want to make sure I can keep this car looking nice for a long time to come.
Same just gotta get my bumper side intact again. Don’t want to worry about not passing inspection
This is a really clever fix! I also like the comment which suggested using clear indoor/outdoor caulk, as that’s removable if necessary.
You can also remove the plastic piece with the broken clips and repair that with jb weld or even better replace it with a piece from the junk yard. Also a Toyota with 175k easily has another 100k miles on it if it has been well maintained.
Bigger pain removing the bumper to fix the clips, though. This is much quicker!
❄️ 🤣 speaking fax
@@TesNRad Over here we have several b230 volvos with 500k+ on them. Cars can last forever if you want them to.
@@tracklizard4018 nice man! Older volvos are quality cars aswell
This is a great idea. Thank you so much. I’m going to give it a try. I have a 2004 Toyota matrix that is 21 years old and someone ran into me and I’ve had bumper hang for a while and needsome paint correction. I decided to do it all myself. ❤🎉
You're brilliant! A genius and truly my car angel!! I just got a car for cheap and the front AND back bumper is like this despite the seller saying it wasn't in an accident. It's been driving me insane though and wasn't about to be taking apart my damn bumper! This however, I can do!!
Thanks a thousand times for this great tip, I had the same issue on my 14 years old Toyota Avensis and I succeded to fix it following your instructions, I found the J&B Weld on Amazon for 16 EUR.
man, you're the BEST 'free' teacher out there.
OMG THANK you for this video!! You are saving me $80 a body shop quoted me for doing this. I will attempt it myself
So glad I saw this vid. Gonna try replacing the main clip mounts if that does not work. Your way is my last resort. Awesome life hack!
Thank you for the tip! it's an awesome idea. I nearly need to spend over a grand to buy the parts and another a grand to replace the parts.
Same🤦🏾♀️
I followed your video and was able to fix the annoy bumper cover gap due to a broken clip. Thank you so much!
Exactly what I needed. You sir are a blessing! Everyone be sure to smile to day, it'll get better.....yes even for you.
I had the same idea. But I didn’t use painters tape. That is a good idea. Thanks for saying to use painters tape. I used duct tape, but mine was lacking in adhesive, so it did not stick well at all. Use a duct tape that has a lot of adhesive. I am going to do it again. Thanks for the great video.
I tried this - worked very well. Take your time though as this can be very messy.
Thanks for this video. I now am confident about the way I should go about "glueing" my bumper back together. The part about masking off the parts of the bumper was just what I needed, and hadn't considered before. I'll look for YourCarAngel the next time I have a car problem. Thanks again.
Somebody hit my rear bumper and the clips were gone. This is a good video!!
Exactly what I needed to repair the bumper on my car before putting it up for sale! Off to Walmart for some JB Kwikweld!
Thanks my 2008 MKZ with 240,00 miles is running and looking great thanks to this information. 5 stars my friend!
Great video! Question: how much would it cost to repair something minor just like the one you fixed but at a mechanic? Roughly? Thank you! 🙏
PERFECT Timing!! Thanks for posting! Its like this at the back of my car. Now Im glad I get to fix it easily. Finally got all the parts as well. Thank you thank you thank you
Appreciate the video. Came in very handy. Saved me about $1500
I so appreciate your video you saved me lot of money for my sons beat up bumper and fender. Thank you so much your awersome! I haven't done it yet but i already no its gonna work fine.
I have this exact problem on my rear bumper,,I'm gonna follow all steps except I'm gonna try useing clear outdoor silicone,,hopefully it works,,
Thankyou so much for the tips I'm going to try this soon bc my bumper is coming loose like this on one side and making a terrible clicking noise when I drive!
Try Gaffers tape if you're concerned about tape residue.
I will definitely give this a try on my 2012 Ford Escape. Thanks Angel
Thank u soooo much this worked for only $13 for all the supplies!!! God bless! ✅👏🏾🙏🏾
Wah, this guys the real thing, hes thorough and stresslless, i can do anything this guy teaches, i like his attitude, relaxed, good job, thanks!!! Like, like, like
After watching your video I fixed both sides of my bumper with this fix. I didn't have any gloves and did it anyway. I got some JB Weld on my hand and just for the heck of it I used some WD40 and it came right off.
Don't do what I did get gloves!!
Thank you so much. Fiat 500 has a flex seam between the bottom side of the bumper and the upper bumper that easily breaks if you bottom out on a curb. I was able to fix the break point. Thank you!
Ok now show me the easy way to take the bumper off lol
If you 'have' to take the bumper off again sometime soon, probably don't use this method.
This is good if you want to save buying a whole new bumper. Like he said, only for cars with a 3 year life span.
But it can be removed with heat and isopropyl alcohol.
@@howdy000 wow so this glue he used for sure , definitely will work and bumper will stay on place for long ?
need to fix my bumper for a toyota yaris 2013 , i do not want buy other bumper ,
@@lizzetcastro73 I used a different adhesive as I live in Australia. I used quick setting adhesive (black) and followed the same steps. Looks alot better! Very secure... I haven't attempted to take it off yet.. I don't plan on it now. Goodluck 🙏
By the time you need to remove the bumper you should already have the new one in line haha
@@howdy000 I'm in Australia too - what sort of quick setting adhesive did you use? (Araldite is my go-to for plastic repair, but not sure if it is appropriate here!)
I also took the effort on my 2014 sorento with the same issue and it worked alittle rough but it looks good. 👌 thanks man
Say man, you explain things so well ! Permatex can get at Auto Zone ! Or JB or JV quick?? adhesive glue like ?! Or simply at an auto body supply?!?? Other material easy to get!
Greg, thank you! ive got the same issue on a 2013 corolla , on that SAME exact spot! This will do nicely
Same here 2010 Corolla
Same 2013 Corolla lol
Thanks, great video with not distracting background music. Off to the box store to buy quick setting J.B, Kwik
Very helpful video,I will try this procedure when weather is warmer in Canada😂
You had me at duct tape.
Lmao right I have a friend who had a flat tire and she use duck tape to cover the hole and it worked till she got a new tire
🤣
Lol, me too, lol~
Good video! Just wondering about how well the JB weld sticks to the bumper if it contains
Polypropylene? Also wondering whether the normal, slow setting JB Weld would also work?
big thanks!
im not really a big fan of those quick release accessories you can buy online.
so i think this one solve my bumper problem
Greg this was a great video and I tried this today and it worked brilliantly. Im a big fan.
i'm going to do this today! 2016 corolla 198K
This is really a great idea. I really hope to follow your video to fix my car bumper,
Could u please name the materials used so I can make a list and go buy them ?
Thank you a lot Sir, I fixed my car and saved 2k
Thank you Greg, I have this problem on my 2018 Renault stepway. should I take it to the body or try your demonstration above?
Thanks Greg this was the only helpful video out of 100 your great dude 💯
Glues and tapes work every time baby! :) Thanks for the video.
Man quoted me almost $1000 to fix my bumper on a 2009 Honda Accord. This sounds much better.
$1,600 for me for a 2013 Lexus ES 350. I’m like nah man.
any tips on getting out the extra blue tape out of the crevices? i guess in hindsight, i'd say get painters tape that matches the color of your car.
Great tip my man, you just nailed what I was looking for. God bless
Thank you man I will do this to my car.. it's happening in the same spot as your video... was a good learn
Thanks Greg. I appreciate all your videos.
All very well, but, what if you need to disconnect the bumper again, to change headlamp for example.
That's why he said he would only recommend this on cars that are almost out. For newer cars, take them to the body shop
Thank you! I used this technique on my car and it worked great!
THANKS SO MUCH, Angel! A lot more simple of a process for non-naturally mechanical car guys!
Mexican local restaurant. Lol u make my day I work at logans road house and they used too.
I have a 2006 Honda Ridgeline that i bought used, that needs this repair. Thank you for the video, great tip!!😃
Did you fix your Ridgeline? I also have a 2006 Ridgeline that needs fixing.
@@axjohn no i never got the chance to try this. My bumper is still in rough shap. Good luck,i think this wiil work.😃
@@robbeewisher8972 so did it work how is your bumper been going?
Its still holding up,and looking pretty good 👍
@@robbeewisher8972 thanks will try now
Umm what if i wanna take the bumper off to do a repair after this?
It's your choice. The only alternative is a new bumper, which will run you over $1,000 with parts and labor.
@@rcharding Not true. You can:
Drill two holes in hidden places and zip tie it, and then just cut and reziptie for use.
Get bumper quick release (Can be hidden, too)
If there's too much material lacking you can "weld" plastic on plastic by melting it together. Then use any method you prefer, including the original one. Chances are you can't clip it back on because somewhere the plastic has broken off.
This hacky job in the video that looks worse than ziptie is one of the worst you can do imo.
Easy, you dont.
Just sell and buy another car
Thank you! You saved me so much money! I'm subscribing to your channel!
If you never have to change your headlights again...
Foreal , I Have This Problem On The Same Side I Need A New Headlight 🙄 So This Won’t Do 😩😩😩
Most cars you dont have to do thaattttt
Yea I think that’s why he mentioned to only do this on an older car
@@sav2040 ...... newer cars you don't have to remove the bumper to get too the headlights.....
^THIS PERSON THOUGHT THEY WERE SMART BUT RELLY THEY DONT EVEN TOUCH THEIR HEADLIGHTS....
Thank you for this video. I did this to my rav4 and it did a great job.
Thank you so much for the video buddy this helped me out a lot with my bumper!!!!!
Hi I got same problem and when I was searching this is really useful video 4 me good job bro
Not too concerned about it looking perfect but the painters tape trick is a great idea as well.
cool bumper tip. Also FYI you can get those containers at other places besides your local mexican restaurant LOL.
would that blue tape will come off and loosen because that's the only contact grip on the surface of the tab and JB weld is in between the two tape. So basically the blue tape is the one holding the bumper gap? Was that strong enough.. I'm kinda amazed and wondering
This is exactly what I am looking for, thank you very much MR BRILLIANT? Very well done!.
More videos on hacks for minor repairs would be great.
