Word of advice for your video production. The volume between the narrator and the tools should be equal. The viewers shouldn't have to be adjusting the volume back and forth every time you are using power tools.

you can do that without fiberglass. ABS plastic dissolves in acetone. instead of using fiberglass you cut a piece of ABS plastic (typical bumper, the harder brittle pieces of plastic used in the interior are in ABS) into small pieces and put in a glass jar, cover it with pure acetone. Close the jar tightly. In 12 to 24 hours, you will get a liquid plastic. If it is to liquid leave the jar open until you reach the desired consistency and apply like you would have done with epoxide. Clean the area that needs to be repaired with acetone before you apply it. I let it sit and harden for 2 days to be sure that is full strength.

Wrong method of repair as fibre glass never bonds with plastic. Little force will be enough to break the adhesion.

Fiberglass repairs won't work on those types of bumper plastic material. Use the two part epoxy with a screen for reinforcement.

Personally I'd just go ahead and replace it. But that's just me as a body tech, while cheapskate me says to fix it with a melted milk jug and super glue then fill the front with ramen noodles. Then sand with a sand stick then go over it with rattle can sing stage.

I own an Altima and those bumpers are so thin it's crazy. I bumped a small snow berm and it was light snow and it cracked in the same area. Garbage covers.

Is that pumper made of plastic or fiber glass?

  • @ChristianoTurner

You should have masked the pliers

Cool. plan to do this to my 04 Honda Accord. it has over the years had a tendacy of crunching into payment when i come out of steep driveways. this will keep me from having to replace the bumper.

This is very informative. Thanks! I tapped a snow bank in 5 degree weather that caused the lower bumper to crack. It's currently in the right place but to prevent it from coming undone, I might do this procedure.
