I have been loving the look of these heads for several years and after reading positive reviews I finally ordered a set. Waiting to build them and then see how they feel to play with.
Just started playing these irons and I really like them. I was playing jpx 900 forged and I wanted a little more help. These delivered, felt soft and I could hit them 10 yards longer and the forgiveness was noticeable.
Thank you so much for actually hitting some iron shots with this club. It’s frustrating that a lot of people are just reviewing the building side of the club. Not all of us can build them lol
I played the STi for a few seasons and loved their forgiveness and killed leading edge (really good turf interaction), but they felt really odd, like it was difficult to tell when I flushed it vs. slight mishit! I have tinkered with the ts2 and although j was concerned due to the low bounce, turf interact in the ts2 is very good. Could you compare the soles of the Sti2 and TS2.....again my concern is the low bounce! TIA
Definitely more effective bounce on the Sti2. I love the sole bevel and tapered width. It's not as extreme as the original Sti. I will probably end up building a set for myself, even though I don't need another set of irons!
For $150 they gotta be better than a box set. Not much to lose here, and they look way better in your vid than their pics. They really need to do better with their website pics. They really dont do the TS1 justice on the pic on the site
I'm left-handed and a 4-6hcp .... not a lot of choice out there for me but I do like these .... topline seems a little thicker than I'd like but I guess I'd have to see them in person .... would you think these would be OK for a single-digit hcp golfer (I'm 60 so not a youngster)
Yes I think these are worth considering. Perhaps build a test club and give it a try. They really don't scream super game improvement. And being available in LH is another plus.
Will you be doing a review on the Maltby M890 irons? I am a beginner looking to upgrade my really cheap set. I have a slow swing speed and saw that these are the highest MPF rating for this year's lineup. Debating on those or the Sti2s, what do you recommend?
I haven't reviewed them yet and hope to do so in the coming months. But I think the M890 would be better for you, as I perceive the Sti2 as aimed at the mid handicapper with an average to above average swing speed.
Robert, I can't say for sure, as I only have the 7 iron and have not built any sets of these yet. My guess is that you might see some of the cavity in anything above the 6i because of ball position on the longer irons.
Yes, it has a top line similar to the TS-2... Very square. The Sti OS top line is only slightly thinner, but the rounding of it as well as the textured finish makes it look even thinner compared to the Sti2. Still, it's the only minor con to an otherwise great club head design, in my opinion anyway.
I am looking at these for a friend who is 100+ shooter who is new to golf and swing rather slow. He currently games old callaway irons from around 2000 I would say. I was thinking these might help him get the ball in the air with a A flex shaft. Do you think they would work and have enough sole to help with turf Interaction?
Which Maltby head would you suggest for someone with arthritis in their right hand and who takes a shallow to no divot? Thanks, your videos are invaluable
The STi2 are slightly weaker in loft then the TS2, but I find them to be a little easier to hit because of the sole width and deeper cavity. I get similar distances on average as a result. The TS2 feel amazing when you hit the sweet spot or even close to it. The STi2 have a little more harshness of off center hits. The TS2 get beat up a bit more easily, being forged. But not more than any other forged club. I expect the STi2 to be more durable, being cast.
I tried a set of TE Forged with the score shaft in stiff and found that too stiff for me. I wonder if you have tested or tried the KE4+ Tour Ultra Game Improvement head?
I have hit the tour+ but not tested it. It is a very nice head, it has a good feel, and I like the weight port. You might try the FST 115 in S rather than the Score LT. It plays a full flex softer.

I've been looking at these with the maltby graphite shafts(currently playing steel.) As a fitter, would the shafts be enough to help with severe tennis elbow pain? Would larger grips help too? Getting desperate as I'm only able to play 9 holes every 2-3 weeks because of the pain. I'm also trying some exercises too.
Graphite is definitely more shock absorbing. While I can't comment about elbow pain, I get much less wrist pain when hitting graphite shafts in irons. The idea of larger grips for joint issues makes sense as there tends to be less club heads rotation (there are a couple of good TXG videos on that topic), and many senior golfers get fit with them as a result. You might consider a test club for practice with a graphite shaft and jumbo, softer grip before committing to a full set.
I have hit many balls with the club but haven't subjected it to actual play, being jostled in a bag, etc so we'll have to wait and see. But the KE4s irons have a polymer insert as well and I found them to be very durable.
Bought set of these 6-GW. Added a STiOS 5 iron. Love them. For the price like you say it’s an Eagle. Got to get on a monitor but so far distance seems good, lot of pin high. Thanks for review and help from emailing you

Hi Ron, glad you like the channel! Either of those shafts are great options. My experience is that the KK play soft and the Maltby plays firm. Both are lightweight, and will lead to a lower swingweight. The easiest way to offset that is make them .5" longer (which is what the industry has done for a long time with graphite shafts), or use tip weights. So you might make the 7 iron 37.25 or 35.5". But I have to say that I have had good success, personally, building the club "as is" with graphite shafts, as you will still feel the head weight quite a bit when using a lightweight shaft. Good luck with the project!

I wish I had never watched your videos I ordered the set of those irons today and after I paid for them they send me an email saying that one grip and one five iron is on backorder until March the 25th. I'm going to have my bank put a hold on them. I was told to stay away from this company and I did not listen. I almost made another mistake in order from giga golf and I'm glad I did not do that. It's better to get a few years older brand name set from eBay.
Aw, you can be patient and wait the month! But, I'm all for affordable clubs and sometimes used is the way to go. Cobra irons are underrated and pretty reasonable. I'm also a Ping fan, although they tend to hold their value pretty well in the used market.

Absolutely. This sole is super forgiving with the bevel. Great Irons... I will be building myself a set in the off season.

TE Forged. The thin sole should help. Also consider a jumbo grip or extra wraps of tape under the right hand.
