Dave: This is still a relevant video. Thanks for posting!! 17 HCP and current gamers are the STi2 irons from 5 to GW. I know that you didn't recommend the KE4 irons (lateral move), but I would like to upgrade my irons. Don't think I should go all the way to the forged blades, and this polymer filled forged iron looks good. Any thoughts? 69 year-old, A-flex, and 7-iron goes 135yds or so.

I still love the Sti2, and if you aren't happy with their performance, perhaps a shaft change would help. Also, my TS-3 review will be out soon and they could be a contender. Really like them so far.

I should have started with my recommendation that you consider these irons. Great performance, nice look, soft feel.

@@fit2yougolf926 Equally possible that I just want something new and shiny in the bag!! My grandson is learning to golf (just turned 12). If he progresses this summer, I will give him my STi2 irons. Looking for a replacement. I hit the irons very well for an old geezer, and the clubs are better than my skills.

Great review, I'm not sure what set I want, but is looking at getting a set from maltby this April. Just bought a wedge and I love it.

Thanks for the great review especially your comments about the sole grind and how the club glides through the turf without digging in. This characteristic is not part of the mpf calculation but is very important to middle handicappers and up. Can you say the same about the KE4 S sole grind which has a slightly wider sole and similar bounce angles to the TS-2?

Thanks for your comment, Brian. The grind on the KE4 S is less pronounced. But as you said the sole on that iron is wider which would increase the effective bounce if I'm understanding that relationship correctly. The MPF ratings of the TS line vs KE4 S match my experience with the clubs... The KE4 S is noticeably more forgiving.

How does this sole grind compare to the STi2?

    Great review, perfect timing.
When you say you get better launch conditions from other clubs are you saying higher ball flight?
I also may have my thoughts wrong, I thought with a light club head that you can't feel you would want a lighter shaft (not heavier) so the head feels heavier? I need a low launch head and shaft and golfworks recommended the ts 2 and a kbs shaft. I tried the kbs in a mizuno 850 and it felt terrible so golfworks suggested the Nippon. I was turned off on the ts2 because of the graphics but you suggest it's not bad. I still think I want the ts1 even though it has more loft.
    Thanks again.

Glad the timing is good! Yes, I get slightly higher launch with other heads of similar lofts, although I think this shaft helps with launch. I am testing the NS Pro 950 stiff in my TE forged clubs and so far really like the combination. Slightly heavier, slightly stiffer tip but still with a great feel.
A lighter shaft would make the club head feel heavier, but the SW and overall weight would be low. That is basically the setup I have in my Sti OS set, but I did that to make the club easier to swing in the colder Temps of the off-season here.

Srixon range balls for this test.
