Get ready to take a walking tour with Chrissy in beautiful Cagayan De Oro, Lumbia Barangay, Misamis Oriental Province in Northern Mindanao, Philippines.
Located 500 feet above the Cagayan de Oro river this Subdivision features luxury homes and spectacular views. We walk and talk about Expat Life in the Philippines, Filipinas, Guard Dogs in front of Filipino houses and we discuss the location of this new house.
Yes you can live in the Philippines without air conditioning - I am not lying. It is so quiet, no loud dogs, no crazy fighting Roosters. Join us as we take a walk, investigate the homes under construction, and see Chrissy run around the basketball court.

Let me make this perfectly clear, You have a drop dead gorgeous woman with a heart of pure gold.
You have found what every decent man has been searching for all of their lives.
Every day, you should roll out of bed on your knees and thank God for her.
Because it is written, that All Good things come from God.
    God is good to you.
I am praying for the same thing for years and it hasnt happened yet .

Great tour of a great housing complex. I so love the views. You about have it all because you prepared yourself to take advantage of opportunity while eschewing mediocrity as you kept your eyes open for better. And when you found what you wanted, you went after it without hesitation. This is the manifestation of a winning way of living.
The problem most people have is in the preparatory phase. They simply do not prepare well enough, and so, have to miss out on rare opportunities. Others will burn through their savings, wanting to have lesser early on, rather than better later.
I am happy for the both of you. You are living life well. Your videos show that people can be happy in life with a little forethought, an intelligently planned future, striding forth boldly, and staying the course. You climbed the mountain of success, and you now have your just rewards.
Too many people give in to lassitude and forego the lengthy walk up, or some give up halfway, settling for less. You kept striving for your paradise above the clouds. And now you have it…well done.

Your video reinforces another reason that older men enjoy relationships with younger women is because they can challenge them physically. I'm 57 years and in decent condition and most women in my age range don't have much energy or physical stamina to keep up and a lot of them don't have the motivation to exercise. While not being critical of women in their 50's it's nice to be able to share those activities with your partner. This seems counter intuitive since women generally outlive men by many years.

Robinson's is not only a mall owner and property developer, he is an amazing business man. He is now in his 90's and his son's run the conglomerate.
They own Philippine Airlines, hotels, resorts, casinos, and so much more.
They own the new world class casino and conference center in Cebu.
You should interview them. You have a business mindset and I think they might be open to you. And then the two of you travel the Philippines doing videos showing off his empire.
The coolest thing about them is the family community they created with the employees in their conglomerate and the commitment they have to build companies that lift up and benefit the life of Filipino people and families.

I also like that it looks like it's easy to park and drive a car in your subdivision. So many places are a bit too crowded for that. How`s community life in CDO ? Are there any schools, gym`s , universities, nightlife, day classes .... also, taking into account, town like Marawi isn`t to far, how would you regard the security in the area compare to Dumaguete or iloilo? there are many places in the world and in the Philippians where, you can live in a subdivisions, but still going into town for the groceries etc, feels like an experience that can go south in million different ways from bad transportation to people approaching you for change.

Marawi is close if you’re a bird, by road seems a few hours away. Feels more like a western town with zoning, great shops restaurants and expats who have lived hear for years

The Philippines is a disaster, prone area and has earthquakes and typhoons. The city we live in, is prone to flooding, but not in the uptown area where this house is, and typhoons tend to hit other areas in the Philippines recently.

Very nice wonderful views. May I ask the rental cost and fees associated with the rental?? Is there a hospital in an hour away access to an honest bank. I am concerned about the amount of complaints from expats about the difficulties with getting their money. Is it a problem depositing a large sum of money and having security and piece of mind it will remain safe and secure?? Thank you for you video and a response.

We pay 50,000 Philippines pesos per month and we have a one month deposit although they asked for two months and we had to negotiate it down to one. We have an entire budget video and house tour in our library. You can check out there is a hospital nearby and we do a video describing the Cagayan de Oro area.

Sari sari means everything everything people open them up in the front bedroom of their homes. Anybody who has property along the road, opens one up they’re in neighborhoods, even good guarded gated neighborhoods.

Hi Rob & Chrissy. I just subscribed. Your videos are really informative for someone that is considering moving there, and Mindanao is where I’m thinking of starting.
So, two questions. First what is the name of the area that you are living (I didn’t catch it) and secondly, how much dies a house like you’re living in cost to buy? (incase I ever get married)
    Thanks ahead of time…

    • @FlyMeToThePhilippines

We are living in the uptown area of Cagayan de Oro. I estimate a house like this would cost approximately 25 million pesos and it’s currently 55 pesos to the dollar.

You have such a keen analytical business mind, I'd LOVE to see youi do a video one day on the topic of getting a long term (20 plus years) lease on a piece of land and building your own house on it. How would you structure the lease? What would you include in it? Would you get an attorney to draw it up? What are the downsides of this approach? The upsides? Once I could possibly see is that if you build a house on a property you don't own, and it goes to the land owner once the lease expires, would you then be worth more dead than alive? Like, the owner gets the house at the end of your lease, OR you die, whichever comes first. Anyway, you get what I'm asking.

    • @FlyMeToThePhilippines
      @FlyMeToThePhilippines  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

There’s an interesting law here in the Philippines, that if the owner of the land faces financial hardship and needs the land to live on otherwise he will be homeless. He can cancel the lease, so it’s really important that you get a very, very good attorney and make your lease ironclad to prevent against that law.

Yes You are right. I personally know someone who retired there. Older American man and young Filipino wife. They living good life. They told me their monthly expenses are about 5000$ US. Depends how you want to live. If you want to live western life style will cost you. But reality is 98% expats live basic simple life in provinces or hours away from big cities.

Do the homes in your sub-division have maid quarters? My plan is when I move over there is to get settled in and find a maid. I don't see many TH-cam Influencers that have maids, but I am not looking to get married but I am looking for an easy life when I retire and the expense of a maid falls easily into my projected budget. The price of your place makes budget concerns even easier to where there is no concern 🤣
