    I started my handstand journey 6 months ago after i came across his videos. To all the newbies : just listen to him and spend more time on the wall and you shall improve like a rocket. Once you can balance with the help of a wall just practice kickups and it shall be a smooth ride.

      Not that easy as you' re telling it.
      You gotta embrace the suck for a pretty long time and you must love it unless you're a kid which may ease and speed all the process up for that matter.

      @@victormanuelpolanco922 I think we can all agree that it’s not easy and that we’re all different in how fast we learn depending on many factors such as where we are starting from, previous experience, relevance of other interests, level of activity as kids, genetics and how we approach and train the skill.
      I am at least not advocating handstands as something easy, or as a smooth ride.
      That being said, I never really liked, or understood the “embrace the suck” thing. It’s got such a negative vibe about it. Why not “embrace the challenge”?

    • @Sondre_Berg
      @Sondre_Berg  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment man 😊 Well, I guess you are right in that the fingers create torque in this case. But this torque again creates rotation momentum to get back to the position we want, which is what I guess I wanted to say. I’ll be sure to be less ambiguous next time around 😅

    Any tips on the best weighted exercises. Dumbell overhead press. Wall handstand pushups. I'm so weak in the hands too. How about hand exercises. Grip exercises. Climbing? Just the crow position was hard enough. Geek climber got the tip from someone about keeping your hand flat and putting weight on the fore hand not the heel of the hand. Then pressing the fingers in. Like you say too. My hands have a ways to go.
    Great video thanks.

      Stop training it with bent arms and regress to the position you can hold with straight arms. I’m afraid this is the only way. The bent arm planche less little carryover to the straight arm planche than one would think😅

    Hey Sondre! On the begging I would like to say that I really like your content.
    I have also question to you- during the palm pulses push ups I often see people lifting there palm all the way up to 90 degrees while fingers are on the ground. I have friends that have that kinda flexibility on the first try while I m doing these exercises everyday for over half year and even year less frequently and don't see much progress- Its pretty uncomfortable when I'm trying to push it high- with the feeling close to ripping my tendons/ligaments. I have feeling that it my biggest factor stoping me from balancing in HS.. any tips??

    • @Sondre_Berg
      @Sondre_Berg  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man!
      I suspect you are talking about the version of wrist push-up where your first knuckles stays in the ground, am I correct?
      If so, what you are describing is a lack of finger hyper extionsion (look this up to make sure I am not mistaken). Finger hyper extension is not important at all for handstand. This drill is used mainly because it allows us to strengthen our wrist and you don’t need to get 90 degrees in finger to achieve this effect. It the the range closest to when your palm is in the ground that is most important in both injury prevention and handstand relevant strength.
      Wrist flexibility is however of importance and you should at least be able to extend wrists to 90 degrees, or more.
      As a side note - since you mention not seeing progress in your wrist push-up training - do you program these for progress? I see so many people just doing them mindlessly. These are strength exercises and should be programmed and performed as such. I recommend even doing heavy reps of these - adjust positions so it’s difficult to perform 5 reps and then do 3-5 sets a 2-3 times a week. Doing 10 easy reps is good for warmup but not much more 😉

      @@Sondre_Berg
      Thanks for quick answer!
      Yes you are correct.
      I don’t have big problem with wrists flexibility- I can pass 90* easily, however I m struggling with crone (crow is super easy even in the middle of night without warm up) because you need bigger range of motion. I m constantly getting it for day and loosing it for week- when I have good day and my wrist is more mobile then usual.
      Just to clarify- crone is a crow on the straight arms.
      I have feeling that achieving it would speed up my progress with press to Hs, and also it’s super cool looking skill.
      You are right I was just doing 10-15 reps daily as part of my warm up, not really excepting increasing the strength, I was more looking for increasing the mobility.
      But I will try the method that you described!!

    • @Sondre_Berg
      @Sondre_Berg  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dilljordan7303 for the elephant stance (crone as you refer to) I recommend having hands 45 degree outwards due to the steep angle of the arm. Same goes for planche exercises:)

      @haiphan8819 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Sondre_Berg Thanks for the answer! Yeah these drills are super helpful. Any prerequisite you think we should acquire before starting to learn the balance? E.g. wall handstand hold for 1 minute straight, 10 reps wall handstand pushup? Currently I can do forearm stand pretty comfortably.
      I followed you on IG long ago, glad you're having more videos on YT 👍

  • @Omnicalisthenics

    I have a recurring problem when I try to "use my hands" to balance. Pushing my fingers down does not generate momentum in the direction the video shows. Even during the crow pose I could not generate any momentum with merely pushing my fingers down.
