Me too! I worked in NB for many years. Cap Pele area. I worked in the fish plants and worked security in Moncton and the surrounding area. I love that area of NB.
Cap Bold Packers in Cap Pele, Pature's lobster plant in shediac, and I also worked with a security company in moncton at the same time, burns international security, sold to securitas. I did these jobs seasonal for about 7 years, May to fall. I love that area of NB
In Canada durning the 1800s it was considered cruel and unusual punishment to feed prisioners lobster more than a couple of times a week as they are just big sea bugs. Its funny how trends change. When I was young "mom jeans" were very unpopular and you would be teased to death for wearing them. Now it is the fashion. Your video made me hungry.
I've never liked lobster because of the texture and after watching this, I definitely can't eat it 😂 I do like your stories and I definitely plan to get the hubby a fresh one whenever we make it up there. That's so sad about the tragic loss of the fisherman. I've only ever seen the show Deadliest Catch. Does fishing lobster there in Newfoundland have the same rough seas? Poor kids getting shamed for lobster, such a time and generation change.
Are you telling me you can take female lobsters? In a lot of countries you have to throw the ladies back, makes sense too me. I’m Canadian and shocked.
Yes, you can harvest female lobsters. There is a size limit. The catches from each fisherman are recorded and monitored. Adjustments are made if the stocks are in trouble. It seems to be a very healthy industry. Having a very high population of lobster can have devastating effects on the health of the population as well, so there has to be a balance. I don't know if the stocks can use a few yesrs of increased growth or not. It is a very good question and definitely a good way to increase the stocks I'd need be.
You haven't had a lobster until you've had a Maine lobster! Greetings from New Gloucester Maine! Thank you for sharing your wonderful video!

We pay about $30 a pound here in the states
Wow
I thought that you would have boiled them in sea water?
Nope, there is a different salt that is mostly used, it's a very coarse salt, not table salt.
