"Pitching to the brain doesn't work, pitching to the heart works." This is so true! I always believe that human connection is the best way to achieve success, whether it is to build a brand or create sales. Having a great PR person in a company can be so crucial in any kind of industry. Having a story that can make people related to themselves can have such an amazingly positive impact on the company.
For those who believe that Social Media kills Public Relations, that's not a good belief. Social Media is a platform that PR could use to strengthen it's ability and become more competitive with small business. Her talk was great about making a narrative within your community to really connect with stakeholders. And I love the quote she said, "Pitching to the brain doesn't work, Pitching to the heart DOES!"
Social media is a powerful tool that PR professionals can use to reach a large audience and build relationships with key stakeholders. By sharing engaging content, interacting with followers, and monitoring social media conversations, PR teams can use social media to promote their brand, generate positive publicity, and manage their reputation.
Yes, the emergence of social media let a lot of people easier to connect with each other. PR practitioners can use it to disseminate information, build reputation and manage relationship with the stakeholders, organization and public. Social media will be a good platform if we use it wisely.
Great Talk!! Social media has become one of the essential thing in our society. PR has the full advantage of using it to disseminate information, increase sales and reputation, build relationship with stakeholders or public of the firm or organization. Because of social media, it becomes convenience for the PR to spread out even their media release to the media or journalist in a short period of time. PR is the middle person to maintain the connection of the organization and the public. Additionally, PR is really like a boss because it truly can inspire or influence anyone just by the communication and the written pieces that PR done.
A very informative speech and Jessica clearly knows her field. I do feel with some public speaker training (via Toastmasters International or a similar group) this speech could be even more impactful however as the structure could be better defined, the body language, tone etc could be more powerful and saying "I'm not a boss at PR" when giving a speech called "PR like a boss" immediately puts doubt in the audience's mind. I found this speech very informative and it highlighted the importance and impact of social media very well. These are (obviously) just my personal opinions and observations.
Excellent talk! no doubt social media act as one of the important role in our society and PR should take full advantage on how to use it to gain maximum benefits from it.
Why would a newspaper even contact or entertain a PR person ... unless he is looking for money for printing the stuff. Arent reporters supposed to investigate and uncover on their own ?
In the contrary, PR is just turning into the digitalization, therefore there is a lot of ways to communicate through social media, web and other sources, what could be "dead" is the print business.

We learn knowledge from the community, by leveraging what we have learned and sharing it, we are actually giving back and empowering the community.
