A very good tip I was taught was before u split a cake into 2 layers is to make a small notch on the side of the cake so even if you cut it uneven it goes back together perfectly! Love your videos!😊

I made the cake yesterday evening, but left out the almond extract, and it came out moist and delicious. I seriously doubt it's gonna make it to Xmas bc it's already halfway gone.

I have a homemade red velvet recipe that I've had since I was 16 yrs old when I took Home-Economics class in high school back in the early 90s. 😁 My question is....what does the cinnamon and coffee add to the cake as my recipe does not include those ingredients. But, I'm interested in trying other variations. I would also like to know if you have a really good recipe for a glaze for a buttermilk pound cake? I normally use vanilla flavoring with milk and powdered sugar, but its not giving the taste I'm looking for and can't figure out what's missing or done incorrectly. Hi! Welcome to the Tracie’s Place Fam! The only thing I can think of is that you may not be letting the cakes cool, and set long enough, unfortunately, I don’t know that for sure because of not knowing the exact ingredients you use in your cake because that all plays part, so unfortunately that’s the only thing I can come up with. And also, I’m not a an expert with the science of baking, but I hope that helped a little bit. You may need to Google the answer. Have a blessed and wonderful Memorial Day 🤗🙏🏽💗
To cut the cake layers, You may want to try putting the cake layer on a turntable, bend at eye level and make a series of even cuts around the cake, then, put one hand on top and turn the cake while cutting through a little at a time..or, just cut straight across..the more you do it, the better you'll get. If you get uneven layers, stick a toothpick in the top and bottom layers so that you'll know to match them up later. A light crumb coat is a must for RV, chocolate and vanilla..IMO..Self-taught baker.
