@@thebeetleball An ARG needs to allow the viewer to be able to suspend disbelief though. This is so forced and hammy it comes across as a parody of an ARG.
Honestly they completely nailed that early TH-cam feel. Riley is actually a great actress and embodies that slightly awkward yet totally endearing TH-cam host persona
My favorite clip is them playing Mario kart because the conversation seems normal. She is talking and then mid sentence responds to something on happening in the game.
ikr!! idk why but they remind me of an American version of the band lovejoy or soothouse, (if they were paranormal investigators of course lol) just something to do with wilbur soot
I haven't seen anyone bring this up yet so: David seems to focus pretty hard on Riley. The camera pans to her whenever there's nothing interesting going on. Being the cameraman, it would make sense he'd have footage and maybe even pieces of art made by Riley in his possession.
Definitely felt the same. Even when they leave the school, he is laughing while David asks if he set it up. Made me think or wonder if maybe he had other goals.
the video quality compared to the time the footage was supposedly taken does it for me as well. Noticing that things were a bit too detailed and too in focus close to the camera to make me realize that much of their "old footage" off of an "old laptop" was done in slightly lower resolution and just slightly out of focus past close to the camera started to stand out to me more and more that they had things and people's faces get close to the camera compared to farther away.
@@Quandry1 was exactly what I was thinking. As someone who used to upload a lot back in 2006 I know there is no way the video quality would be that good back then, especially being played now . Definitely gives off the vibes of a video made now but with filters to make it look older
Also the tweets ffs please stop doing that it is not scary it is lazy writing in my opinion. Twitter accounts aren’t scary just convenient. This was an awesome piece of media except for the Twitter mysterious account
I know a lot of the comments are nitpicky but imo this is a really neat arg. The replication of early TH-cam aesthetics, while not perfect, is very entertaining and it seems like the makers had a lot of fun
neat I guess.. I hope that isn't the actual ending.. Otherwise, the build up about Shelby Oaks and the potential backstory are just completely wasted. Unless they are going to try to make a part 2 which in most cases is a mistake. Maybe I am crazy. Also Did she scream Mia at the end while she is being attacked?
I tried to find any anachronisms in their video, barely could find any (other possibly than Riley’s clothing style (i know this is funny to say) and the Paranormal Paranoids logo, which I felt looked a bit too 2d for it to be in the 2000s). If this is just another ARG, they did a well job in making it a mid 2000s style series. Also I tried to find Mart Talbert, Paranormal Paranoids, and Shelby Oaks by using the Google trick which you can use the phrase “before:” in finding older content, (ex: adding before:2010) will show you results that predate from that year), which didn’t really show up anything.
It brings back nostalgia of the mid-2000s TH-cam and the budding editing community starting to take hold, it also has a Mystery Science Theater 3000 ring to it.
Her overriding fear was of being trapped, and her last words are "Let me out, let me out!!" Doesn't matter that this is staged, that was well done, and gave me chills.
Really immersive for an arg set a few years back, but the only thing that caught me off guard was the well edited intro lol no one on TH-cam in 2008 would’ve uploaded something so crisp like that
I've honestly seen from really solid editing from videos in 2008. Really rare, but not impossible. Either way I'd personally say it's immersion breaking. It makes more sense to try and emulate the most common styles and look of videos from then rather than the absolute cutting edge to get people immersed in the time, as most people are going to think of what was most common when they think of the time, with maybe a few notable exceptions. Which doesn't help when your supposed series actually wasn't one of those few exceptions.
If they were trying to keep it plausible, they failed there. Probably should have kept it to very simple edits or reused small portions of content around that time, like intros to "spooky" TV shows.
Hello, Ohio resident here. Lincoln Elementary is a closed school in Cuyahoga Falls, near Akron. They already said they were in a wooded area within Cuyahoga Falls so I believe the team is from the greater Akron area. This idea is collaborated by the mention of Tallmadge, which is adjacent to Cuyahoga. I believe the prison was likely the Ohio State Reformatory, as it's located in Mansfield, which is very close to Akron. It'd make sense they'd go here as it's a bit of a tourist trap due to its use in The Shawshank Redemption.
I'm from Kent, here to absolutely corroborate all of this. Although if they wanted this to be believable, they'd have said it was Mansfield, given that it's so notorious and well-known. Kinda hard to use it for a random "prison near Ohio" when it was the setting for one of the best movies ever made lol
I live in the falls too. I thought it was cool to see something in my area. I went to Lincoln for about a year when I was in fourth grade! Never heard anything about a suicide shack or the spooky stuff at Lincoln
I actually went to a Lincoln Elementary School in Fargo, N.D. It’s still open though lol just crossed my mind when it came to that part in the video 🤷🏻♀️🙂
ARG is kinda like WWE/professional wrestling. Some people enjoy it and pretend it's real even though they know it's fake. And some people hate it because it's fake.
this is the best comparison and explanation to describe an arg I've heard and I feel silly for not realizing it earlier. additionally, just like in wrestling, someone can be screwed over causing people to fall out - and sometimes creators of an ARG may have a falling out due to whatever circumstance or disagreement.
The real magic of ARGs is when you're first experiencing the genre without prior knowledge and it's immersive enough to make you question if it's actually real (kind of like when the Blair Witch Project first came out with its clever marketing campaign). If I could erase what I know about ARGs every time I start watching a new one, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
@@kat9514 Lmao I rarely share the name of a character. Most of the time people make jokes about it like "Well who's Riley?" Or sometimes I run into another Riley and it's like "Oh it's me" This is a new reaction
You can still have fun with ARGs knowing full well its an ARG. Many true crime channels (including ReignBot amongst countless others) started out as ARG/paranormal channels. But you quickly find reality can be much more horrifying than any fiction.
She did a Q&A video full of sarcastic quips. I was surprised to hear some outright humor from her in that understated, eloquent voice. I'd love to hear more of it. She was the one who got me into the horror genre
Y'all who keep posting "omg, it's an ARG!" Did none of you actually listen to the beginning of the video? She absolutely laid it out for us (right after the Hunt a Killer commercial). "It's been a minute since I've covered something like this" while showing her list of "Creepy Internet, ARGs, Unfictions," calling it a "multi- tiered *story,"* an "emerging gem" with "quite a few *characters"* and that it was something she'd 'walk us through.' I think she was expecting us to connect the dots on this one instead of grabbing to wave a huge honkin' sign flashing "UNFICTION!" That said... I absolutely agree with all of you who mentioned those "glitches" in the final message were unnecessary. That made the whole thing a bit silly.
With the glitches my mind just wanted to go to the noir dude just going "yknow whatll be fun? Editing this video a bit to fuck with people" but I'm also sleep deprived so my reasoning skills are nonexistent
AH, I guess I was a tad distracted and missed out on that since I was also playing on my phone lol. I thought it was a mix, like someone took these old videos that really existed and created the two twitter accounts to make an arg about it, till like half the video when I realized they'd need the actors to do the weird stuff now as well lol. Well done, extra effort put in
It's promote Chris stuckmann new movie sucks it's just to advertise a new found footage movie thought we were getting a new arg since most ended or there's no conclusion like Gregory arg

@@miph3033 Hey at least he's got eternity. Maybe he could save up some PTO for a trip to the Bahamas! Hopefully management is understanding you know... since he had to clean up a pretty bad mess and all.
For me, the biggest goof they made there was: They put up what's "supposed to be" a picture of the crime scene, with the alleged "mop down the janitor's throat". The picture is "obscured", for obvious reasons. This communicates to us, the audience, that a picture of the crime scene allegedly exists. An image of the mop down the dude's throat exists. But then the girl seems to express skepticism on camera about whether the murder actually happened, or whether the locals are having "a bit of fun". This is absurd. *If they HAVE a picture of the crime scene* then...clearly it happened. There's nothing to really be skeptical about. The claim is that the mop was shoved so far down the janitor's throat the "strings" were dangling out his mouth. They HAVE a picture of this. It is not a "legend", by default. It's something "that distinctly happened". Including the scene where she's speculating about this is more than just a redundancy, it's bad storytelling. It's bad writing.
A lot of people are talking about the most unrealistic parts of the ARG, but it’s definitely that they thought and expected they could make “real money” on early TH-cam.
Eh... I get it. I've caught a few of those "young jackasses looking for ghosts" shows and fantasized about seeing them offed one by one. There's a reason found footage horror is a genre.
I'm so angy that I didn't see the horrific case of teens being slashed and their families being tortured at the thought that they weren't there for their children and have to live with the burden of outliving their children. >:( I mean. I watch true crime, but having such a reaction is borderline psychopathic

So we are going to totally forget Mia’s Boyfriend as she (Riley) screams for Mia on the last video? Sounds like a help scream? Definitely could’ve been Mia’s Boyfriend doing all the stalking? Maybe Mia was mad at Riley because Mia’s boyfriend had a crush on Riley? he was the one stalking Riley and has all those videos
I was thinking about him when we got there too. The “mia’s boyfriend” tape seems so superfluous to the story right now. It would give it purpose if he was the home invader. And the supposed turnaround of Mia’s opinion on the channel could be because she and that bf split up. I don't know, though. We could start getting into proxy marble hornets stuff real quick. There are significant marble hornets similarities already tbh.
Yup. Just watched his vid and it seems they are promoting this as another found footage of sorts. Hope this film works for him as this is his big break.
@@ulrichweiss9912 It's supposed to be a Blair Witch type deal, and you're not supposed to know it's all fake. When explaining the movie he treated the events as though they're real. The fact that it's obviously fake means it failed. I don't know why that's hard to understand.
Honestly as a janitor myself I wouldn't mind if a ghost showed up and started doing my cleaning for me, means I can sit back and get paid for doing nothing.
Oh bless Allyssa-bo-Bissa that is so sweet. But... NO WAY! Marble Hornets was awesome, there is just no comparison. Marble Hornets was grounbreaking stuff on many, many levels, all acting, writing and filmimg aside, just the brevity of episodes alone was enough to grab peoples attention and go "WTF. More, want MORE NOW," and that was before being grabbed by the content. Then you have this, it feels almost but not quite like a very poorly executed parody of some lame home video of somebody (perhaps a nobody) going to places with people they know and looking at stuff led by a girl with no real personality to speak of but sister so depth, and the really spooky thing is she has dreams about...erm...*gaspy inhale and intense look to camera*...well...stuff! *slow exhale and pats own back for bravely sharing inner self*. Oh and she cant draw for shit but damn she will express creativity....in charcoal and BIG! Yep WOW! Seriously though, how did you jump from that to Marble Hornets? The only way I would have made that menfal leap is if I thought to stop watching (I didnt, my bad!) and watch Marble Hornets again instead. I kinda love it too LOL. To be honest, it almost seems a little too good for '05-'08 TH-cam. Having an original theme song for your web show was so rare back then it basically guaranteed success and fame. I would've loved if the intro was just Windows Movie Maker text slides with a low quality MP3 rip of the X-Files theme. Now THAT'S vintage!
@@QuintessentialWalrus that was also my first thought lol The production quality of the video/content is dead on, but the intro is too good. Creators were fantastic and detailed. Great job onto them
I love ARGs like this that are about internet content from the early to mid 2000s. I grew up with the internet during that time so this really hit home. Though, the glitch effect during Riley's Last Message was pretty immersion-breaking and unnecessary. But other than that, I really enjoyed it. Something about the bad camera quality adds to the eeriness of it all.
i agree on the glitch thing, as i was watching it i remember thinking “nah this is way too crisp” :-/ beyond it being an overused bit imo, it just didn’t match the grainy quality of the rest of the vid so ofc it comes off immersion-breaking
I love this arg. here's my theory: in the goodbye message, Riley and her sister Mia are murdered by Mia's boyfriend, Robert. I think it makes sense that Mia is implied to be unusual/troubled and this boyfriend is possibly abusive (it's a pretty realistic scenario and the man in the video looks very much human/it sounds very much like a conflict happening between living people, not ghosts). so the whole plot is kind of like a Lake Mungo situation (2008 Australian ghost film). Riley is sensitive and is predicting her own death and that of her sister. I wonder if Shelby Oaks is even the house/place where Riley and Mia are living when this tragedy happens (implied they live together since Mia is seen filming Riley in one clip). In essence, the supernatural element is ghostly, Riley is sensitive to these sorts of things, but she is foreseeing aspects of her own death. The constant mention of suicide seems important too, though, so it might be that Mia kills herself, possibly in the last video. I think the idea of foresight/prophecy is important because Riley mentions dreaming about the places they visit years before they go there. I think it could also make sense that Mia has been dead for a while and Riley is interacting with her ghost, but that seems a bit too obvious/cliché to me and I'm more inclined to go with the Lake Mungo theory. Not sure how suicide fits in then, though. If Mia has been dead since the beginning, maybe she killed herself at Shelby Oaks.
You can broadcast the word "suicide" on national television to millions of viewers with several minutes of commercials, but ah-ah-ahhh don't say that word on TH-cam or you'll lose your channel! Censorship is a joke.
@@shish420 what is wrong with her voicing her opinion here? Everyone has a right to it...or are you just whining about simply because you don't like what she had to say??
Until I read the comments, I had no clue this was an ARG. I 100% believed this was some old mysterious youtube channel because as someone who was on youtube back in 2006 and later, the actors & writers absolutely NAILED the vibe of early youtube. And based on their age, they too were on early youtube and even went out of their way to get an old digital 8 camera and the hum of that tape is what totally sold me on it being real at first. This was beautifully done and the creativity and passion for this project is super obvious. Obviously the man in the school and such was a bit too obvious but honestly if we can’t suspend our disbelief then how can we enjoy movies again? For god’s sake the whole reason any movie, horror or comedy or whatever works is the suspension of disbelief.
I figured it was real up until that final conversation where Riley talks about her psychic visions and whatnot. The whole thing was just a little too clean to be a spontaneous conversation (and if the video was never supposed to be online, why the heck film it all to begin with?) I do agree, the quality on the entire venture was EXCELLENT. They also had a good sense of subtle horror. I kept expecting some sort of jump scare at the end, but hearing her screams in the distance while someone else shouts at her was much more subdued and chilling.
Pretty good acting! They had me goin for a while but those instances where they are recording their convos and Riley is like “why are you filming this?” And the guy is like “ahhhh don’t worry about it” and then they just continue to have their conversation. Their acting at the school was great too
The guy Riley talks to is really bad tho, constantly interrupting her with needless lines, totally overacting, too much stammering, cliched improv. Riley is a budding actress tho, good luck to her
the most unbelievable aspect of this ARG is the blonde girl wearing high waisted jeans during the early 2000s lol any type of jeans above hip height in that day and age wouldve lead to a public stoning
@@GrifoStelle well youre in luck because low rise flare jeans are coming back apparently! ive seen several fashion tiktoks of kids hyping up those jeans so ill give it a couple of years before big clothing stores carry them again
Maaaan, this is such a fun ARG!!! Seriously, the actors were good, their dialogues didn't felt too cringy and fake, the build up tension is amazing and the story is intriguing. Honestly, it made me more scared than any of the horror movies I've watched in the last few years. Really, one of the best I've seen, thanks for bringing it to my attention Reignbot, you did an amazing job covering this!
SPOILERS TO ANYONE LOOKING IN THE COMMENTS: anyone else find it weird that there's a whole video dedicated to Peter asking questions about Mia in the Mario Cart clips, and then (maybe?) seems to get subtly frustrated when Riley mentions that Mia is dating whoever Robert is? And at the very last video, we hear what sounds like Riley struggling, what sounds like a *man's* heavy breathing, and Riley shouting out "Mia!" as if maybe something has happened to Mia/she suddenly sees Mia before the struggling stops and the man walks down the hall to that window to catch his breath, and honestly, my guess is that the man is either Peter or whoever this Robert guy is. We really though know nothing about anyone else besides the little bits of Riley we see, which makes this a super interesting and frustrating story so far. There's still a lot about this that doesn't make immediate sense though with the Twitter posting; why does Noir in this story want to keep attention to this so much he'd 'find' Jess's email and keep making frequent posts? I wouldn't doubt the story might also have some weird, genuine supernatural aspects in all this too, but this is what I'm going to figure the story is heading toward until other evidence comes forward either way.
This has the same plot as a TH-cam film I saw a couple of years ago. Except that in the film, you saw everyone die, in a cabin they rented near where they were doing their paranormal investigation. Still interesting little story though.
@@dollarstoreloudiamondphillips I'm not sure, but they ended up in a really nice log cabin if that rings a bell. Woman protagonist was in the bedroom and heard screaming, after feeling like a paranormal entity had attached itself to her. Then everyone died to the entity, I can't quite remember, but I think it took control of someone after doing a lot of poltergeist stuff iirc. Was really so similar and done in a very similar way. Is that the same film that you remember?
Yeah. There are 11 Lincoln elementary schools in my home state alone. Odd how they don't say WHERE Lincoln elementary is exactly. "... way back to 1976" - like that was long, long time ago. (😂)
It was believable to me up until I saw the intro... Way too high quality. Actors were good, the quality is believable (my mom's home tapes have the exact same quality) but unfortunately very far fetched for a random internet show.
@@RollerOfEyes I was making stuff fairly similar to that intro in the 00’s. If you have a creative interest, the tools and resources were absolutely already online.
Christ, these comments are why it’s so difficult to encourage people to be creative. Critique (constructive critique) is always good, but so, so, so many of these comments are picking apart every little tiny detail, things that aren’t even full controllable even. From the start this was clearly an arg. Have some level of suspension of disbelief and remember this is likely a project a group of kids just did for fun.
Fr I can’t get why people can’t just enjoy a piece of media even if it’s good or bad. I honestly really love the “bad acting” because it adds to my personal experience. Like yeah there’s some bad editing here and there with the glitches and ghosts but not every can be as good as the greats out there and that’s the point and even then, this timeline is supposed to be the early 2000’s I mean u can’t expect anything better
I absolutely love the idea and appeal of a group of friends getting together and making a fun and spooky project together, I’d love to do something like this with a group of friends someday. We’re getting some high quality and budget arg’s recently and that’s amazing and wonderful, but I still really value these lower budget and fun ones too. I miss this kind of stuff honestly, now people just want to be the first to debunk something when it’s like....of course it isn’t real haha, it’s not that deep
The level of nitpicking here is ridiculous. Some guy said it's unlikely they'd be saying "literally" in the mid 00s because that word wasn't commonly used before the Kardashians... Like, what??? People should just learn to enjoy this kind of stuff for what it is: free (and clearly fictional) entertainment. If you're completely unable to suspend your disbelief you shouldn't really be watching low budget horror content on TH-cam. And if you think finding the most ridiculous ways to nitpick makes you look smart, think again. It doesn't. It makes you look dumb. It's the equivalent of going to see a Marvel movie and complaining that it's unrealistic because superpowers don't exist in real life. Trust me, you don't wanna be THAT person.
I don’t know about ARGs like this but that penitentiary around the 30:00 mark is a real haunted location, and if ghost hunting is your thing then I would recommend the TFIL channel or OVERNIGHT, they’re run by the same guys but the overnight stuff is the haunted locations they go to to do ghost hunting
@@mattsarvitisulfur5647 another thing I just noticed (sadly late at night and now I'm kinda scared) you can hear a man grunting, maybe the same one that is in the doorway.
The attention to detail with the early 2000’s graphics and costuming is on point and enough to peak my interest. Anyone with this much attention to detail deserves a shot.
I mean, people forget that TH-cam didn't come out until 2005. Like, 2008 was still the very early years of TH-cam. Literally no one by that point had even hit a million subscribers, and here we have ReignBot with probably over twice as much as the most popular TH-camrs in 2008.
These are the true dark ages. We quite literally have virtually all the knowledge in the dang world in the palm of our hands and at our fingertips, and we paranoid about _seasonal flu_ like it's the dang plague; we most likely stepping over surgical masks where bodies ought to be if it really were a crisis.
You picked a great time to drop this because Chris Stuckmann just unveiled that he is doing his first ever horror film called Shelby Oaks about this missing group!
When you showed Jess’ picture of the stuff from her childhood house, I started laughing because I have had that Vampire Encyclopedia since the early ‘90s. I did a quick double take, glanced at one of my bookshelves, and sure enough, there it is. It just struck me as funny, as I’ve never seen another copy. Thanks for the great video, as well-
Why the hell would you after hearing someone break into your house, slam on your door then go quiet, would you open your door and not call the cops lmao
So maybe the video should have faded to black with a stressed out Riley giving a vague police report to a cop in the doorway checking his watch and going through the motions?
The window was my big thing, like good on this for making her behavior erratic because that freaking window gave me more suspense and just overall uneasiness than the freaking door. The whole time I was mentally screaming "close the blinds, get away from the window. close the blinds, get away from the window." If you have anything like that happen first thing you do IS GET AWAY FROM THE FREAKING WINDOWS GOOD LORD PLEASE. Like I hate my room having windows on all three walls because it makes me feel so unsafe lol.
Damn, the length they went to create this arg is awesome! In the beginning I legit thought that they built it upon an existing series that indeed was on youtube in the mid 2000, but filming all of that, that's crazy! Loving it
"This was not staged" they say after making the most staged shot possible with plenty of space to the right of them. Those PP clips have such a 2000's Jeopardy vibe (the Scottish kids drama, not the game show). I'd watch the hell out of it for sure.
Jesus that is a call back and a half!! Jeopardy was a great show and especially for a kid like me at the time who didn’t quite get the whole ‘reality tv’ aspect of it
The footage seems way too good of quality for the time. Also if the alleged video has been downloaded and uploaded a bunch of times the quality from the compression and packet loss would show.
A well made ARG, but some things pull me out of it. I dont remember people dressing like this much in the early 2000s. Also the intro was too well done for videos back from 2005-2008 on YT. People usually did slideshow intros or just text transitions. This is considered top-tier production and they would've blew up immediately if it was posted back then.
You say that, yet shit on screwattacks had intros that were just as if not more elaborate. Also, it's literally just a bunch of scifi clips and stock footage mixed with windows movie maker-esque intros for each cast member.
@@warbossgegguz679 Well, I did say usually. Hence why screwattack was popular. But yeah, I def don't know many channels that had a lengthy Ghost adventure TVesque intro, with a song to boot.
As someone who was a young 20something in the date range of this, from Ohio, who was running around with friends filming low quality paranormal videos at the various sites around Ohio - this whole thing just doesn't sell to me. At the time in question the sites they're going to simply don't match up with what were the hot spots to go to for this sort of stuff in the area. ARG 100% and one that might draw a lot of people in, but sadly just not for me.
Agreed on those clothes - Riley’s jeans in particular are extremely modern. Very hi cut, wide leg floods would not have been available, and it really sticks out in the film footage.
Having followed a lot of vloggers from that era the look is definitely all right although yeah the graphics and stuff are definitely above what would be possible for the era
They had me thinking it might be an actual missing persons mystery until that very last video. Noir and Jess are most definitely the same person/s. Oh and I loved; "I'm scared... I feel like I'm being watched." Night time with blinds on window all the way up. Lol.
@@RollerOfEyesI guess, but if she really were that scared, a good horror movie would have her freeze until the thing burst in, a much better ending than ruining an ending for me with Death By Stupid.

Yeah. The way they positioned the camera in the woods was very sketcy. They intentionally left a huge gap on the right side, and there just so happened to be something scary.
i gotta say this is honestly a really well acted ARG. i felt relatively few 'oh thats definetely scripted' moments even though it has all obvious hallmarks, if that makes sense. like the actors all felt very genuine even if i knew where it was going. i haven't so much fun with an ARG since the lake eggs one
One piece of information I can provide: the picture or illustration on the floor under the desk at 24:45 is actually a glue trap, used for catching mice. I know this because I'm an exterminator and I use similar traps when treating for mice in a residential setting.
Good job noticing that! Also related to the blog, I'm also 99% sure the "She came in through the bathroom window" caption is in reference to the Beatles song of the same name. Considering they're such a well-known group it's obviously what the phrase most known from and if the OP meant something else I'm sure they would've specified, such as at least naming who "she" is. But who knows, that's just me. I can definitely see it sounding super ominous to someone who's not familiar with the song, lol, almost seems to suggest some murderer broke in through the bathroom window.
Not gonna lie, I'd totally watch the shit out of "Paranormal Paranoids" if it was an actual show even if/even moreso if it was always as gloriously "low budget on purpose" as their intro. Also: C'mon, TH-cam... It's starting to seem like it wants to be even more "tame" than, like, pre/after-school PBS. You _have_ things in place to say if something's meant for kids or not chill maybe?
TH-cam can’t control itself, the platform gets barely monitored by actual humans (less so with smart ones) and wherever there is an “issue”, it’s usually about corporate BS than anything truly offensive. Case in point, type in a full stop ( . ) into the search bar - that’s all you need - and just look upon the many weird and strangely sexual results that gets uploaded by the minute. And how none of those channels gets reprimanded.
@@somethingcool1533 Honestly the truest internet mystery at this point. I do have to agree with the over censorship (that’s only applicable to some channels more than others, for whatever reason), even text on screen saying s*****e can trigger takedowns now? I read an article the other day about a 6-8 year old (can’t remember exactly sorry) in Australia who recently tragically committed s*****e, kids know what it is, and if they encounter the word having no idea what it means, it should be up to their parents to choose how to explain that, not TH-cam.
@@somethingcool1533 it blows my mind how some channels have to be so careful about their content for fear of having problems with youtube yet so much trash is allowed to continue, unhindered including being monetized. I was not familiar with the sexual content however I am very aware of the many numerous channels that exhibit/contain some pretty serious and awful animal abuse and mistreatment including that that results in the death of the animals. No matter how much people "report" it it remains!!
There was even a point early-ish last year where TH-cam was striking down anyone who mentioned... **Glances left and right, opens the front door to look out, rips microphone out of the computer, puts duct tape over the camera and whispers** Covid. **Talks normally again** Granted, it created with my favorite euphemism made to get around it (The Backstreet Boys Reunion Tour, which has been going on for over a year; Backstreet sure is back). You know it's gettin' really THX 1138-y when news is censored.
Yeah but it's probably because of the type of content it is. It's like how you can say a horror films are like others. They're all different yet similar lol
Yeah like seriously. The Blair Witch Project is a technical ARG and it's a really good movie despite people now knowing it's very fake. People need to start enjoying a story as a story and get off their weird "if it's fake its bad" train
It's also because they are often lame and extremely poorly acted. If you're gonna try to pretend like it's "real" you need to make people feel like it's true or possible. If you fail then you simply failed and should stick to the nosleep subreddit. Blair Witch wasn't try hard pretending to be real, plus it was effective because it was the first of its kind.
13:36 Nothing could have ever prepared me for that theme song, or the quality of the video and enthusiasm from the people involved being on the level of an episode of Zoom.
"Uncle commits self-forever-sleep after stealing relationships from vanquishing niece" -Chris Ray Gun reading news headlines in a advertise friendly way.
It appears this is part of the ARG for Chris Stuckmann's movie. the more I think about it. He is doing the movie about Paranormal Paranoids called Shelby Oaks
@@Snakecggg I disagree. Some people genuinely believed that it was a real channel that existed, some people believed that the videos were all real, the fact that this sort of thing was believed in this day and age is more impressive than you’d think. Some people believed that The Blair Witch Project was real, a fair amount of people too not just a handful, and that makes sense because in 1999, you didn’t have all of the resources that we have today in terms of the internet. This is just the marketing for the film and people believed it to be legitimate, in 2021, when anything and everything is just a click away from being proven/disproven. It’s impressive.
@@BCS1105 Yes yes, and some people believe the earth is flat, it's still not that impressive. Hopefully we get more context clues because I really want to be able to form some strong theories about this. Super interested in how Mia and her boyfriend play into this, as well as Peter, who seems like he's got motives beyond the Paranormal Paranoids show.

@@erisium9975 @Nicolas Pratt Gotcha! Yeah, I think Chris is playing into the whole marketing campaign by making it seem like it's a real story. Very similar to Blair Witch, and I'm quite excited!
I get immediately suspicious when they are in a wide frame and all the intended subjects are on one side, leaving a lot of empty space. It means they meant to capture that ‘apparition’. Edit: I know it's an ARG and it's obviously staged. But I'm also referencing to similar supposed ‘real’ pictures/videos.
I think they made it kind of believeable, by capturing the footage with no one behind the camera. That at least made it feel more likely that the group would not be centered in the shot.
They lost me with the "CCTV" footage. That was some awfully nice and clear security cam footage for 2008. We've got banks right now that don't have cameras that film like that.
Listen, I know logically that this is an ARG and everything is staged but the part of me that's the embodiment of a scared horse can't help but jump at every little thing in this video
I am AMAZED how well they nailed the feel of early youtube videos. The hair, the language, the casual awkwardness, the unapologetic unprofessional vibes Its PERFECT, probably one of my favorite ARGs in recent years

I say it's because he was dating the star. :P
So, he’s not missing too?
That must mean that this was all his idea.
Also, he was constantly on camera. Who was manning the camera when he was in the shot?

I haven't seen anyone bring this up yet so: David seems to focus pretty hard on Riley. The camera pans to her whenever there's nothing interesting going on. Being the cameraman, it would make sense he'd have footage and maybe even pieces of art made by Riley in his possession.
Definitely felt the same. Even when they leave the school, he is laughing while David asks if he set it up. Made me think or wonder if maybe he had other goals.
It is very unclear whether or not he did set it up after all
Riley is the bent neck lady 😹
I always want to believe, even though I know it's fake, but man, those fake ass video glitches always take me right out of the immersion.
the video quality compared to the time the footage was supposedly taken does it for me as well.
It's easier to assume it's fake and then be pleasantly surprised if it turns out to be real (which never happens bc it's always fake, lmao)
@@Quandry1 was exactly what I was thinking. As someone who used to upload a lot back in 2006 I know there is no way the video quality would be that good back then, especially being played now . Definitely gives off the vibes of a video made now but with filters to make it look older

@@villings I mean. Kinda greedy to ask for professional actors lol
neat I guess..

Really immersive for an arg set a few years back, but the only thing that caught me off guard was the well edited intro lol no one on TH-cam in 2008 would’ve uploaded something so crisp like that
That intro song tho
Yeah that intro looks better than most intros ten years later... It was kinda a dead give away
Definitely not impossible
i had the same reaction lol. i was like lack of editing for early era youtube? what was that intro then? lmao
That opening theme still has better production values than anything I've ever made.
If they were trying to keep it plausible, they failed there. Probably should have kept it to very simple edits or reused small portions of content around that time, like intros to "spooky" TV shows.
It absolutely SLAPS. Especally when it became like : 🎶para para para... Parnormal paranoids ✨

As soon as I heard "haunted prison in Ohio" immediately I was like "Oh, so the Reformatory." lol

I feel like its the best of both worlds. Treat it like a realistic fiction.
This is more of an unfiction rather than an arg.
this is the best comparison and explanation to describe an arg I've heard and I feel silly for not realizing it earlier. additionally, just like in wrestling, someone can be screwed over causing people to fall out - and sometimes creators of an ARG may have a falling out due to whatever circumstance or disagreement.

She did a Q&A video full of sarcastic quips. I was surprised to hear some outright humor from her in that understated, eloquent voice. I'd love to hear more of it. She was the one who got me into the horror genre
It walks the line without trying to sound 'scary' and lifeless like Night Mind or Masquerade.
Y'all who keep posting "omg, it's an ARG!"
Did none of you actually listen to the beginning of the video?
She absolutely laid it out for us (right after the Hunt a Killer commercial). "It's been a minute since I've covered something like this" while showing her list of "Creepy Internet, ARGs, Unfictions," calling it a "multi- tiered *story,"* an "emerging gem" with "quite a few *characters"* and that it was something she'd 'walk us through.' I think she was expecting us to connect the dots on this one instead of grabbing to wave a huge honkin' sign flashing "UNFICTION!"
That said... I absolutely agree with all of you who mentioned those "glitches" in the final message were unnecessary. That made the whole thing a bit silly.
With the glitches my mind just wanted to go to the noir dude just going "yknow whatll be fun? Editing this video a bit to fuck with people"

@@miph3033 Hey at least he's got eternity. Maybe he could save up some PTO for a trip to the Bahamas! Hopefully management is understanding you know... since he had to clean up a pretty bad mess and all.
For me, the biggest goof they made there was:
They put up what's "supposed to be" a picture of the crime scene, with the alleged "mop down the janitor's throat".

If Mia has been dead since the beginning, maybe she killed herself at Shelby Oaks.
ooooo what if no1r is supposed to be robert
OH god Lake Mungo... excellent!!!!!!!!

Until I read the comments, I had no clue this was an ARG. I 100% believed this was some
old mysterious youtube channel because as someone who was on youtube back in 2006 and later, the actors & writers absolutely NAILED the vibe of early youtube.
The whole thing was just a little too clean to be a spontaneous conversation (and if the video was never supposed to be online, why the heck film it all to begin with?)
I do agree, the quality on the entire venture was EXCELLENT. They also had a good sense of subtle horror. I kept expecting some sort of jump scare at the end, but hearing her screams in the distance while someone else shouts at her was much more subdued and chilling.
I guess none of you saw Blair Witch Project?

Pretty good acting! They had me goin for a while but those instances where they are recording their convos and Riley is like “why are you filming this?” And the guy is like “ahhhh don’t worry about it” and then they just continue to have their conversation. Their acting at the school was great too
Some things were really strong actually, Riley does a rapid eye movement in the cold prison sequence that was pretty realistic

SPOILERS TO ANYONE LOOKING IN THE COMMENTS:
anyone else find it weird that there's a whole video dedicated to Peter asking questions about Mia in the Mario Cart clips, and then (maybe?) seems to get subtly frustrated when Riley mentions that Mia is dating whoever Robert is?
I think No1r is Mia
This has the same plot as a TH-cam film I saw a couple of years ago. Except that in the film, you saw everyone die, in a cabin they rented near where they were doing their paranormal investigation. Still interesting little story though.

This is an ARG..... it's just a project. It's not meant to be realistic otherwise the series would have been boring.
The window was my big thing, like good on this for making her behavior erratic because that freaking window gave me more suspense and just overall uneasiness than the freaking door. People usually did slideshow intros or just text transitions. This is considered top-tier production and they would've blew up immediately if it was posted back then.

Also as a side note I’ve seen creators of ARGs get mad at creators for either calling them out at how poor it is or telling people it’s an ARG (ala the TelliTubbies one) and also she’s done this exact thing since almost the beginning of her channel...read out the arg in it’s entirety then update if people solve things..don’t know why y’all are so pressed all of a sudden lol
I feel stupid for being legitimately scared the whole night now
@@CosmixReflection fortunately, you can get scared even by an ARG😄
It might shock you to know that not everyone likes ARGs. Finding out that it's an ARG can immediately pull someone out of it and lose interest.
@@mechanomics2649 If you've been subscribed to reignbot for..not even a long amount of time this is about half of her content and this is the formant she always use when discussing any ARG/Maybe ARG
@@mechanomics2649 Then maybe dont watch this content
I'm glad another channel picked this up because I was really curious about this! Thank you Reign for blessing us with an hour long video too! Your hard work doesn't go unappreciated.
Dude it's fake af
@@TheBuckteeth100 and?
@@TheBuckteeth100 Doesn't make me any less interested in the story. I never claimed it was real. I like ARG's and I was enjoying where this one was going.
@@TheBuckteeth100 “dUdE iTs faKe af” like somebody asked yo goofy ass
The "nobody asked you" reply is so dumb, nobody asked anyone about anything in the first place
This is one of the scariest ARGs I've seen in a long time. I was afraid I was getting desensitized to horror! Riley's Last Message literally had me holding my breath and shaking my head in terror. Hopefully we get more context clues because I really want to be able to form some strong theories about this. Super interested in how Mia and her boyfriend play into this, as well as Peter, who seems like he's got motives beyond the Paranormal Paranoids show.
Chris Stuckmann is directing the Shelby Oaks movie. All this wasn't an ARG, but marketing for a movie!!
That would be genius. I only came here because of his recent video.
ARG's are often used as viral marketing campaigns (just look at Halo 2's "I Love Bees" game). It's still an ARG, but one whose purpose was to market an upcoming movie.
@@noahdelgado3642 at least not a stand alone ARG. I mean is purely for marketing purposes. Let's hope it will be good.
@@noahdelgado3642 I know. Difference for me is Chris Stuckmann made it sound like a real case and I didn't hear about this ARG until watching this video. I thought they were separate entities until Nocolas Pratt pointed out it's marketing.
I dunno what’s creepier: the stalker finding Jess’s email or the paranormal videos.
When it's your own email adress, it's pretty easy to find.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
Stalker, in my opinion. :)
Listen, I know logically that this is an ARG and everything is staged but the part of me that's the embodiment of a scared horse can't help but jump at every little thing in this video
🤣
Same. They did so well.
same esp the person in the school basement, that freaked me tf out
I am AMAZED how well they nailed the feel of early youtube videos. The hair, the language, the casual awkwardness, the unapologetic unprofessional vibes
Its PERFECT, probably one of my favorite ARGs in recent years
riley looks like laura palmer if she took up ghost hunting
Theres a fish in the percolator.
Damn this one is good. Is so great when there’s a ARG that’s good enough to cause suspension of disbelief and really get into it. Great job to the creators and Reign for another great video.
Love you Reignbot your voice perfectly matches the tone of whatever you're covering so I find it really easy to watch
damn, the ending freaked me out so much i had to pause to collect myself halfway through. the shaking of the door had me especially terrified. despite all the flaws in this arg, it's incredibly well done. i'm so excited for the movie!!
