Going to work on a small patio table I was just gifted today! It’s rusted around the corners and underneath. The hardest part is deciding if I want to paint everything silver or black lol. It’s mosaic on the top. I’m obsessed!
Wonderful video, thank you for sharing that tip about painting the bottoms of the chairs and tables first! Going to be refinishing mine this weekend and this video helps ❤
Thanks for the great video. I have an old wrought iron computer desk-frame from Mexico and I'm going to make it like new, using your great advice and techniques. Can't wait to get started!
Thank you so much for watching the video and leaving such a nice comment. Best wishes on your desk project. I'm sure that it will look like new when you are all done!!
I have the same table, and then 6 chairs (with the open lattice work, similar to the table), and a lounge chair to do! About how many cans of spray paint (both the primer and the top coat) did you need to complete your table and 4 chairs?
Hi! Thank you so much for watching the video ☺️. It's been awhile since I did that video...but, if I remember correctly... I used about 4 cans of each primer and top coat for the entire project. With what you are describing...you might want to purchase 7 cans of each and take back what you do use. You Can Do It 👍
Great work! Looks nice!! Thanks for recommending the primmer. I'll be repainting my outdoor table and chairs this spring. I love doing these types of projects.
Hi. The sander is a Dewalt brand sander. It works great and the sanding discs are super easy to swap out, as the sander has a Velcro-type surface that grabs hold of the sanding discs. Hope that information helps 👍
Hi Susan. Thank you for watching and leaving such a nice comment. I bet if you take it slow and do a little bit at a time, you will do an amazing job and be so happy with the outcome. You can do it!!!☺️
Hi Karina! Thank you so much for watching the video and leaving a comment. I wish you the best on your "upcycle" and hope that you get many years of use out of your outdoor furniture.
HI. Thank you for watching. If you apply a primer, you can easily hide the original color of the patio set, and then be able to apply a new color to your furniture. The primer helps to prepare the surface for the new topcoat color. Just a few cans of spray paint and you have a whole new set!! 👍
Hi Kelly. Thank you for watching. That is a great question. I used three cans of the brown primer and four cans of black top coat for the entire project. Is seven cans of spray paint altogether. I hope that information helps 👍

Dare I say that it's worth a million dollars? 😆 In all honesty...I just looked similar wrought iron table and chairs up on Amazon and Wayfair. Similar models are on sale from between $600 and $800...so, I would have to say that for the price and a few cans of paint...this was definitely worth it! 👍
Hi, thank you for watching the video. That is a good question. I like to do a "primer only" spray as the base, because the combo sprays (primer & top coat) don't seem to adhere as good to the metal as it would if there was a solid primer base on the metal first. Hope this information helps👍
....and if you were paying yourself labor fees, the finished cost would have gone up.😉 But hey, a lot of us do DIY makeovers and don't "pay ourselves". How many cans of each paint did you use for this project?
You're totally right 👍on the labor thing...sweat equity. It's been awhile, but I think I used 4 cans of primer and 7 cans of black top coat. Thank you for watching 🙂
@@sirenenlied Hi B.B. I totally would agree at first...but, then I did some research and realized that a five piece wrought iron table and chairs with umbrella starts at around $700 and can go all the way up to $2000 for a similar table and chairs. Prices these days are obnoxious. I still thought $175 was a bit much to pay for something that needed to be refinished. However, I now have a piece that will last pretty much a lifetime as long as I continue to touch up any spots that chip off. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment! 👍
GREAT JOB! I too just purchased a wrought iron patio set at an auction for $25! In VERY good condition for the most part. Thank you so much for putting this video out as it was VERY helpful 😊
The real winners was the person that sold a rusty table and chairs for $175. The paint company also scored on this. Can you imagine 15 cans of paint at about $15/can (Biden's economy) = $225. Now we're up for $400. Plus umbrella, plus seats. Oh wow. By the time you're done, you've invested $1000 into an old, used, rusty set. PASS
If she loves it, that’s what matters. Anyway why would you even take the time to write this out? Being mean on TH-cam comments gets you goin or something? Decor is subjective, art is subjective; that’s what keeps the world interesting.
Waaaaay too much work for something that can be easily replaced. It looks nice, don't get me wrong. You did a great job but I would have bought a new one. Maybe I'm just lazy.

That is a wonderful gift! What's best about it, is you can put your own touches on it and have a story to tell. You Can Do It! 👍
You should wear a mask when sanding. I needed an MRI and they asked if i did a metal work or sanding. They said it could get into the lungs

Nice video. We are doing a bench and will use same process!

thank you for the video! Very helpful, please use mask during sanding as well!
Great video thank you

Looks great. I need to do this, but I don't want to. Do you think there are experts out there who would do It? You did a super job!

Im doing this with my metal table🙂

Does the primer allow you to change the color? I have a patio set in good shape but don’t like the color

How many cans of spray paint did you go through? Trying to estimate for a set I want to purchase

If you are using a paint with primer, why do you need an additional primer?

If u care about the deck, make drop clothes much larger
That mask is a smart move. More people should take heed your example.
Wooops. Spoke too soon.
You really need to be wearing a mask (R95, P95 or P100) when spray painting. Those paints can cause permanent brain damage.

For $170 dollars you could have bought a nicer set. That set is very ugly.

no way a nicer set for $170 that is wrought iron not plastic and it's a classic
