- Have you ever wondered how to get rust off of metal furniture? Not only do I know how to remove rust from metal but I'll also show you how to fix the metal too! What was originally set out for trash can now become the centerpiece for your outdoor furniture display!
I found these chairs that we did not think could be saved but once I removed the rust and repaired the metal, it was smooth sailing! I'll show you step-by-step how to remove the rust off of metal, fix the rust - actually reform the rust - and give these chairs a total makeover!
At the end, you will know how to fix rust, stabilize metal furniture that has been damaged by rust and make it like new again! This is a Garbage to Gorgeous project if I've ever seen one!

The SteelStik is a great tip, I didn't know about that! My only concern/suggestion is that when sanding rust always wear a proper respirator. Also, backdrop and respirator for spray paint. Backdrop to mitigate chemicals going on plants/wildlife from the toxic paint.
Thank you so much for the SteelStik reference and example of how to apply it! A buddy of mine (and his wife) gifted me a patio set because they received a new one for their 25th wedding anniversary. I was thrilled to get a free set, but when I brought it home I realized it needed a lot of "love"! That color is so pretty! I think a white table would go really well with these chairs.
I was thinking white or a little bolder since the shed is white and was worried it might blend too much.

I've never heard of that steel stick before. I have a patio chair that has a broken support bar on the legs that I can use this to fix.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it! No that long! I removed the rust and cleaned off the dust and dirt. Dried it. Did the rust reformer. Once the rust reformer dried, I added the filler. It doesn't take that long to cure but I think I waited overnight. The next day I sanded, primed, and painted. So, two days but not full days.
You do have a genius for turning literal trash into a thing of beauty. Definitely don’t want the people that put these at the curb to see them, they’d want them back.😀

I LOVE my used, formerly rusty patio chairs! I do have to touch them up every couple of years, but I think they’re really worth it. Thanks for the steel stick (?) tip. Mine weren’t quite bad enough for that, but that could come in handy.😊
