    What is carrot cake made from? Literally from carrot?

    • @javierheng5426
      @javierheng5426 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Radish. It's chinese name, 萝卜糕 literally translates to Radish/Carrot cake. However the word 萝卜 is more commonly known as carrots, at least here in Singapore, so people have adapted to the name carrot cake.

    Seems like this uncle doesn't know the history of fried carrot cake very well. He should get his facts right. Since he is being interviewed here, he needs to be accountable to his audience. Chai tow kway originated from Chaoshan, China. The original black carrot cake was invented by the Teochews in China, and the white carrot cake is later adapted by Singaporean hawkers. It's not like what he said about Hokkiens doing black carrot cake and Teochews doing white carrot cake.

    Environmentally friendly then don't use styrofoam and disposable utensils lor. Lucky you old gen hawker. Now NEA/SFA already ban shops from serving dine-in customers with disposable plates and utensils.
    The uncle seems nice but what he says really contridicting. Especially when he justifies himself using less eggs in the dish. And how other people's carrot cake is not chop chop chop and fry one. Hello... white one is serve in slices... black one 99% in SG is stir fry one. Yours is the same as everyone else.
    Keep contricting ownself very jia lat. Start with changing to non-disposable non-toxin serving plates then talk.

    Sad that Singaporeans cannot speak their dialect anymore because of the government fault. We interview in mandarin because that's what us the young generation only knows. It feels like a big part of Singapore heritage has been scraped off our generation forever.
