Sergio and Chris recently talked about how turning off new ride requests (unless in a streak bonus) can help drivers not only be safer on the road but also how it can help with having less available drivers on the road which can help with surge and getting paid better! Here is how to do it on both apps

I use to just turn on my app and just take every single ride. But for the past couple of months or so while driving 6 to 8 hours a day around 15 days a month, I noticed longer distances to pick up and very low fare rates. Beginning today, I will be using your recommended methods for choosing ride offers. Thanks guys for the education!

This is exactly how I drive in Boston, and there's another HUGE advantage that's not mentioned in this Video. I Immediately tap "Stop New Requests" the moment I accept a trip, and I don't go back online until AFTER I've dropped the passenger off. Works beautifully. The reason why is that if you do not have a passenger in the car when a trip pops up, you can see the trip route on the map clearly. If you have a passenger in the car and a trip request pops up, you don't get to see the full route drawn out on the map. So it's much easier to look and see where my next ride is taking me.

I've been doing this a few years now. It's a no brainer. Not only does it avoid incoming rides, that you can't see a map of where they start and end, but it also allows you to choose if you even want to stay in that area, or head directly to a surge if one is nearby after you finish the ride.
Side note, kinda bold of you to show people's name, including pickup and drop-off addresses on the screen to TH-cam viewers. One of them is likely a home address, and there are a lot of creeps out there.

If of course you're in the middle of a Lyft streak bonus you don't want to turn off ride requests unless you are going to turn it back on within 15 minutes (in order to keep the streak active). I've had this conversation on here before where Sergio replied. My reply. While this method is effective. Depending on where you reside, it's not 100 percent. Here in San Francisco, when you turn off the app while in the midst of picking up a customer. Lyft will and has changed the pickup destination to pickup another passenger. I her this frequent. And that's where they can screw you too. I've had it happened several time where you accept the ride that you want, but only to have it switched to a shitty ride via Lyft

I have been doing this for over a year, and now I feel like Uber doesn't show me surges, instead it says I'm in a very busy area. I have to actually play around with uninstalling the app. And restarting my phone again and then it will start showing me surges again. Also try to screen shot what you accept because sometimes the distance is different then what they show. I screen shot when I accept and then i screen shot when I start the ride.

I tried this yesterday. Ended up driving 7.5 hours barely hit just under $150 worst Thursday in 8.5 years. Couldn't get not even a single xl request. Believe it or not out of 8 rides i gave the highest avg paying rides were the 4 shared rides i got and 1 preferred ride. Ended up near home so called it an early night by 6pm. Here's a question for the panel. How does the hourly guarantee work for lyft under prop 22. For example the guarantee 120% of minimum wage earnings. If you give 1 minimum ride per hour and not accept any other requests . Simply just park and do nothing. Will lyft pay out the difference. Because from what it appears like. If I give rides I'm still only able to avg 17 to 20 per hour even cherry picking under upfront pricing options. So if the guarantee under prop 22 is based on online time and the difference after giving rides. I almost feel like I can give 10 minimum $3 rides in a 9 hour day. And after 2 weeks lyft would have to pay out the 120% or the difference between my earnings and the prop 22 money. Has anyone tried this yet to see what happens.

I used to drive for Uber a few years back & had quite a few "cancelled" rides when I was about halfway to my passenger's location. This got quite annoying as it would happen to me whenever I decided to drive for Uber on any given day. Since I was working full-time during the week, I only did the Uber driving on the weekends. After I kept getting "cancelled" ride notices from Uber, I decided the hassle wasn't worth it anymore and quit working for Uber. At lest this information from the video about how to turn off the requests is helpful! When I drove for Uber, no sooner when I dropped off my passenger, sure enough there would be another notice about a person needing a ride pop up on my Uber app!

No more hope in this job anymore
    Rideshare business is dead
Every driver should go and find another source of income ASAP
    They don't need drivers anymore
They are doing this intentionally and there is so many people quit there main jobs and started Uber and Lyft full time, and these companies know it very well, and we have unfortunately become like a slave for them, so they exploit us and use us as a domy
Please go and find something else

They did do pay cuts. However, you need to be strategically focused to make a profit now. Not just get out and drive around

@@malewire1263 Definitely forced me to be more strategic with my driving. I never drive for those base fare rides. You can still make good money driving if you're smart.

I don't know about you all but I can only speak myself I dislike . When you're on a drive and they put another one Q . I did not know how to shut Off so I took them not long. I had figured out how to shut them off. . Then when I realized how to shut Them off. I felt like an idiot . Laugh out loud

These Riders do it on purpose. I'm on Lyft and they added a stop after I picked them up but they were dropped off at the first stop. I left because the second stop ended up being way further away. It is a way to scam

The right share guys are doing so much good for this business. Is there anyway to lobby the government to put restrictions on businesses like Uber for extremely dangerous distracting phone activity like trip radar? I’ve heard that they may make trip radar the regular way to accept rides and I think this dangerous distraction should be against the law.

I had a 10 ride on Lyft today then it switched to 8 dollar ride so I declined that ride. I decline ever 3-4 dollar ride Lyft is gonna go under sooner then 2024.
