Anytime a rider adds a stop or edits the destination after Ive accepted the ride and I dont see an increase in the fare, I cancel immediately to teach riders not to do that BS to us. If they're already in my car and ask to stop, I ask them to add a tip for me and I dont make them add the stop in the app. When Uber and Lyft charge the rider $1/min for a stop and the driver gets 100% I'll stop cancelling them.

Me too. I’ve had more than one rider say they are trying to add the additional ride (I really believe their faking it hoping to get a free ride). If I have to decline 2 rides during this time and they haven’t sent the extra stop I say I do not know how else to explain to you how to add a stop. Anyone who adds a stop during my ride automatically gets at least 3 stars, don't match with that person again. If I had a good ride get bumped, 1 star! And if Uber doesn't pay more for the stop, I explain to the passenger I'm not getting paid for the stop so I can end the ride at the stop or skip it. Uber even once dropped my pay when a passenger added a stop. Luckily I screenshot all of my offers before I accept it, and I screenshot the trip details to show it doesn't have any stop. That way. I have a leg to stand on when arguing with Uber's so-called "support".

I don't have it in front of me right now so I may be a little off, but you can click on the pickup point or the stop if you are at the stop and it should give you a list of cancellations. Just cancel the ride if they add stops without telling you. They could have added the ride before they get in your car and they get a driver who’s interested in accepting that ride. But this is forcing drivers to accept multiple stops because nobody wants to accept rides with multiple stops. Teach the riders by canceling the ride and tell them to get off your car. You accepted the ride only because you thought it’s shorter trip.

I accepted it because upfront fare was big one.
1 st stop was very close by so I stop there then the rider says on a way out "you know there is another stop , right ? " I said yes then waited for a while . The rider doesn't come out from 1 st stop so I send out a text. I see the rider saw my text then ... Ping ! Cancel ❌. 🤯
All I got was very short trip fare . I was baffled.
It was an scam to get a faster service , to be accepted by drivers for short trip requests .
From that night , I would never accept multiple stop trips never again.

When w rider drastically changes the trip, it can also mess up my filters such as a destination filter or area filter. I explain to the passenger I'm not able to accommodate the changes because it will cause me to be late for an appointment or take me away from where I need to go and if they do need to change the routing of their trip, I can drop them off somewhere and they can get a different driver.

There's some really good points that you made in this video and I understand them all. Last night for example the couple wanted for me to take them to the liquor store before taking them home to get some liquor. At first I was like well you need to put it in the app the Stop and they were like they did not know how to do that so it was just playing it by ear the guy told me he was going to give me a tip and he actually did a $20 tip. But that's the chances you take is hearing someone out and taking the chance to see if they keep to their word.

I have always allowed my passengers to go to the store. They have always been polite and very nice and give me great tips from it.
I picked up a Man going to the airport and wanted a coffee and snacks. It was at 5am so we both were barely getting moving. We had a great conversation and he turned around and tipped me $120 cash. And when I've picked up other's I usually get a $5 - $15 tip. Remember be Polite and Courteous and Friendly and you'll get tipped more.

I have a few rules listed and hanging on the seats. one is to not ask me to stop on the way to their destination they will have to add it on the app. One thing if you have added stops make sure the rider takes all his crap with them they try this as an anchor to keep you there. I once had to chase down a rider in the store that was taking too long and hand him his backpack.

Some old passengers take advantage of that 1 time I gotta write which was 30 miles towards my direction and then as soon as I picked a passenger up which was a young girl suddenly she said oh sorry I'm going exactly the opposite direction and I had to take her back and cancel it and I didn't get paid for that I'm pretty much sure she was cheating the system because the other direction was in middle of nowhere nobody would have taken her

He acted like he didn’t know how to do it to find 2 minutes later he wanted to drive 25 minutes north into a very rural area and it was 3:30am. I said I can’t go there then I was going south. He said it’s ok I can get a ride. He walked out of the store with a buddy he bumped into there. He got into his car after ending the ride there and requested a ride from his place. I found the next ride I accepted was his and canceled it as accepting by mistake.

Once the libations loosen them up, there's an opportunity for goodwill on their behalf. Not a fool-proof system, but one just has to feel it out. Perhaps if the drive-thru is logjammed, this may not be a good idea, but if you can get in and out quickly and back on the road, por que no¿

[Think friday evening rush hour or bar closing after midnight] If I stop request it will make me sit for 15min at the end of the last ride, even if i turned request back on 10-12min before the ride ended. First, I too will stop at a convenience store if it is along the route because it is usually akin to sitting a red light or two but I no longer accept rides that right away indicate "multiple stops" because had some bad experiences and I have not been able to figure out with Uber how to cancel at a stop without getting penalized and not paid whereas Lyft makes it easy with a visible countdown and cancel eligibility yet I have failed to see anything like that with the Uber app. Second, I have been doing this for four years now and did not know that "stop requests" prevented added stops but do implement "stop requests" sometimes and have had riders mention that the app will not let them make adjustments so I suppose I should have been able to make the connection, "duh" "face slap"....lol. Glad I clicked this video and will definitely utilize the "stop requests" even more often now.

  • @michaellmay

I hate multiple stops. It's even worse, when they add a stop while in the car. And, I've learned that people who say they're going to tip don't tip. They're trying to get a free ride. That's why they don't enter a 2nd trip, when they make their initial ride request.
Too many people wait until I'm about a minute away from their destination, then ask about stopping at a store/gas station. I'm not their personal driver. And, I don't care about them offering to buy me a drink or whatever. I can buy my own drink, if I want one.

I ask them to show me the phone and cant fin the option to modify the trip, but never seen the driver is not taking new request message he is talking abouts. not sure if is because I'm offline but definitely I'll check it out.

So this is helpful knowing about turning it off so this doesn't happen but at the same time I have had people say they where trying to add a stop but could so I may just keep doing as I am . When some ask I always let them know how Uber will charge them more and I only get maybe .35 cents while they may get charged a extra 7.00 so if you need a quick stop I will just do it and ask for a small tip that way it's a win win plus I don't lose that next ride which is paying more . Sharing tips and tricks with my rider has always scored me better tips. I always think like a rider and if I need a quick stop since that's how I became a driver in the first place . Karma and take your stuff with you please !
