I couldn't believe my eff up. I apologized to the kid and told him I can try to go back to the first delivery and see if they still have it at the door or go back to the restaurant and pay for a new order. He was like nah, I'll just eat this, it's ok. I apologized again and he said "it's ok. it was nice talking to you" I said, "I'm sorry?" He said it again and I returned the pleasantry. that's what I was thinking I just started Uber and I noticed it's always better a good thing to pick a good area where u want to be for the day a area sorounded with restaurants and new homes
Another thing I figured out is areas with a high concentration of restaurants AND hotels is a goldmine. I love hotel deliveries because they're usually ordering from restaurants in that same proximity and they always leave a decent tip. $8.50 for 1.3 miles yes please. Thank you.
I always always text upon arrival at restaurants with “ Good morning , I’m just waiting for your order “ which opens the door for a reply ( often ) . Sometimes I’ll be told of a last minute change or other details. If I have a second pick up or stacked orders I’ll say “ I’ll be there as quick as I can” The number one rule in my book is to use HEAT BAGS. ! Why on earth Ubereats makes this an option is beyond me. I once did a $200 food order using 5 assorted bags. I got a $35 tip .Before the days of COVID when I would see customers face to face I would often let them know that I use my heated seats to keep their food warm. More tips. No kidding. Drive safe everyone.
Yeah if you don't have a space blanket bag you're screwing yourself. I'm actually going to order a couple more of the ones I have but, larger size. I had an order tonight from outback and they gave me this freaking behemoth takeout bag and it wouldn't fit in my heat bag. Luckily that order wasn't going very far. lol
some great tips you gave! I've been doing this only part time for about 2 weeks now and everything you said I kind have figured out along the way. I made a few mistakes the first 2 days but learned quickly to adapt to try and earn more. A lot of it is just plain common sense but after listening to you I realized I'm doing a lot of the same stuff already. Thanks for the advise on some things though, it all helps!
I don’t fool with college areas . Those kids don’t tip AT ALL ! Have lots of them here but the areas suck ! Takes you out of the hot zone by 15 ~20 minutes for base pay . Just isn’t worth it .
For real. The college kids put in a tip first, make you do extra stuff in the freezing cold while calling you "friend", and then take off the whole tip.
For people who deliver to apartments, make it EASY on yourself. Message the customer and ask them WHICH BUILDING NUMBER and if you go "left or right" when entering complex. I ask that and I find apartments a lot faster. I used to spend time hunting for buildings and driving in circles looking for the apartment number. I sometimes find the apartment map on the way in, which helps to. Apartments are CAKE now. I used to HATE apartments, but now I love em. I will deliver two orders at a time to the same complex from McDonalds and literally make $12-15 in a matter of minutes, with tip included. The mileage is so much easier on your vehicle, as well. Messaging your customers as you're waiting at the restaurant speeds up apartment deliveries. Don't think: "...I'm gonna find the apartment on my own." It's gonna irritate you to NO END looking for that apartment! LOL! Don't even try. Just message them.
I did 4-5 hours of delivery today for the first time and I am surprised tips were half of my total earnings. Thanks for the tips. I live in a small town, and being a total beginner, I was making long drives out of power strip. lol.
I made a customer laugh when I told them that the car in front of me spent $50 on an order at a jack in the box. Then I would check in to let them know I was still waiting. I got a couple of extra $ tip.
I’ve been having problems we’re customers order and tip but after they reduce the tip and I always ask my self what did I do wrong I always do everything as asked that’s really frustrating. Also when a restaurant forgets an item customers will give a bad rate to drivers.
@@DishaAsphyxiated I hate them, always some ratchet college girl with instructions like "DO NOT LEAVE UNTIL I GET MY FOOD IN MY HANDS" + A pin code. If I see it's going to the college now I just unassign. Drive 10 minutes thru a college to wait for 15 for no tip. Never again.
If they did the bonus each week that would be great I'd do it more. Especially with gas prices now. The 2.50 payouts though kind of made me do it as a side job now.
For service members that do deliveries during non-duty hours: unless you're blown away by the offer, avoid delivering on post. You'd figure business booms because barracks soldiers hate mess hall food, but delivering on post isn't worth it most of the time. You run the risk of getting a full inspection at the gate, military police are far stricter than their civilian counterparts, the barracks are a nightmare to navigate and barracks soldiers tend to be poor tippers and communicators. Installations are usually big dead zones as well.
Very true statement. I did Dominoes on the side and every time I delivered on base, I rarely even got a tip. I didn’t let it get to me because I understand that is your prerogative, but I always found it funny because they would spend $40 or higher on an order and not even bother a tip. All off base deliveries I easily made tips.
@@CaligrowntreyLuckily some of my best tips came from on-post housing (using military lingo and mentioning I'm a barracks rat lets them know I'm an active SM). I've started closely reading the delivery address on my orders and if I see a street where barracks are and I'm not completely blown away by the order I deny it.
in new zeaqland they will only pay out the higher of the two boosted options.. so if surge pay is higher than the 1.2 boost. you will only be paid once, and at the higher amount.. but not both stacked to make a really big boost..
Also a pro tip, if you live where prop 22 benefits apply, then take advantage of them, take as long as you possibly can to pick food up and deliver it, all that active time really adds up fr, it could definitely effect customer tips and satisfaction tho so judge your own market, but for me personally uber eats is amazing lmao i making about 2-3 thousand a month currently in san diego (rancho san diego to be specific).
What about turning Uber eats on while at home waiting for orders if you live close to merchants. Works most of the time for me but I wonder if it’s makes a difference if I go out n wait closer by the strips ?
I always turn it on in the driveway as I'm leaving to go to my area I like. I'm pretty sure they're sending you proximity based orders. I'm in an area where there isn't much within a mile. If I turned it on at home and waited I'd probably be waiting all day for an order to pop. lol
So helpful, thanks! As a rookie, these little questions are huge in my mind. You've answered some of those already. Also, I live in a remote town, driving TO the strips is going to be necessary, I guess so another great tip. Looking for airport tips. Just took my first passengers today but did not figure out the airport thieyet.
Unfortunately I live near bad inner city areas and those areas have the most restaurants and orders, but arent the safest, so I stick to the suburbs and since its summer and everyone is eating out, not much orders, been slow all summer. In the colder months I made a lot doing ubereats since everyone was inside.
I've been doing this for almost 2 months, countless hours and never received any promotions or anything. Only surge pay. I drive around collecting surge pay and then never get orders. Here in East PA it's a busy area lots of restaurants and Uber advertises make 17 an hour sign in now and I'll wait 3 hrs to get a 6 dollar order. A lot of miles and ware and tare on my vehicle for 6 dollars for 3 hours.
You need to do a video about the terrible decision Uber has made where they won't show you the upfront address if you decline only a few orders. It infuriates me as a driver.
Really? I just started and i decline orders that are taking me out of my bussy zone. Or zones where i probaly will not get good orders. If uber does this we are employes because they are controlling us. We are not self-employed
UE has recently sent us squiggly lines for hot spots. I went to one last night and sat for 20 min and got no orders. I live .05 miles from 50-75 restaurants so I am staying home.
I been driving for UE for a year now and I still haven’t seen the quest challenges. I only see the surge and boost areas on promotion tab. Please me thank you
Hey Mike how's it going? Just wanted to say thank you for your teachings, I've been following not too long now and have been doing uber for a few months and listening to you and watching your videos has helped me with uber eats and other apps I'm currently using as well. Keep up the great work :)
I make $30-$35/hr at my local Domino's in Wisconsin. Yes I have to answer phones, do dishes, wait on customers at counter. But I drive a hell of a lot less miles. I'm in Tampa as a snowbird and tried Ubereats for a week and made $15/hr. Anybody in Tampa help me out?
Thanks for the advice. I feel Uber doesnt have very good training for the most part on advice like this and it helps to maximize driving and customer deliveries so they are happy to tip.
communication is key. I've gotten better tips from keeping people updated. did you show up and they said the order was gonna be another 5-10 minutes? send a quick message saying hey im here and your food is going to be ready is ___ minutes. I've had really good reactions to keeping customers informed and i think its helped my tips
I dont know if this is happening in my market area but I dont think I can stack bonuses like surge and boost cant apply at the same time. Whichever is the highest they pay you. I'm new to UE but i still havent seen a Quest at all. Also the requests that i get are usually $3-5 range. anything more than that means long drives. like $7 means 25-35 min trips. Any suggestions how to counter this?
My first week of Uber Eats. Saturday night 5-7pm sat in a surge pay area. I received 2 offers for restaurants that were miles away from the surge pay area and took me 10-15 miles away from the surge pay area. During the week I tried different surge pay areas and was given 2 or 3 offers for lunch that were absolutely awful 5.25 for 12 miles. Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
Maybe.. and I could be wrong, my market doesnt see too many surge/bonuses but I have found certain areas to sit. Dont try to chase the clouds, just find those swankier restaraunts in areas you feel ok sitting.. worth a shot. Sometimes i'll get really nice stuff outside my normal strips and it's always the nicer joints.
Your example of 5.25 for 12 miles is an obvious case of "net fare only". Meaning no tip was given through the app at time of order by the customer. NEVER accept those. Dont' accept 2-4 dollar orders EVER. Accepting orders like that just encourages people not to tip. Unacceptable for me. 5 dollar order on less than 2 miles is just ok (that would be net fare of 2 bucks plus a 3 dollar tip). Always keep in mind the net fare formula. I'm still trying to figure it out but, I think it's like 2 bucks for 2 or 3 miles and then that drops to about 35 cents/mile after that. But, you should be able to identify orders that make sense for you to accept pretty easily.
@@Kostly This info is what got me broke and losing everything. Miami don't play that ish. As soon as you don't accept one or it will stop sending you anymore. Sometimes it will give you 3 chances. The tips you guys give don't seem to work in big cities cause they have everybody and anybody on these apps. So you are very disposable. They will let you run around from area to area and not give you a Dmmm thing!
Unfortunately in south africa we dont have the predicted payout. For some reason my app doesn't even show the heat map where it is busy. I have contacted support and they have not fixed it at all.
UE in my market area is awful. Lot of miles for less money. Tip baiting is out of control. When I first started with UE is was great. After about 150 delivery started going down hill. I took one delivery yesterday in a 4 hour window.
when i take the picture i take my delivery bag/box to include in the pic and add in the message ''Bon Appetit and have a nice day/evening'' just to let the customers that i took care of their food by keeping it hot and secured
You can easily identify customers that didn't tip in the app and I DO NOT accept those runs. NEVER. If they have a cash tip for the driver. Good for that driver that accepts it. I don't trust people to do the right thing and tip cash on no tip in the app. My tips are always at least 2-2.5 even 3 times what my net fares are. Uber Eats has a base net fare of 2 bucks up to about 2 or 3 miles. Then with each mile you get less per mile, maybe 50 cents/mile or something like that. You can use that approximate formula to see who isn't tipping in the app. Don't accept those deliveries. No driver should accept those orders EVER.
Uber Recently has been really light with my promotions. I was killing it doing over 100 deliveries a week making sometimes 1300 a week and now my Uber income has been slashed down. I hope I can get promotions back or it’s just not worth my time.
Dose it help earning if you try to delivery the food faster than expected delivery time ? Or uber just takes your drive / work time and re calculate the pay rate if you delivery it earlier than expected
Good tip for universities but they don’t tip well usually. Younger, trying to save $, I get it. I’m gonna go to the ocean side where rich people live, and see if it makes a difference in the tips lol.
You keep referring to a "Quest" for bonuses. We have yet to see that promotion in our area (the phoenix area). Is this just in some markets, like areas that don't have enough drivers? We also never see more than 1.1 boost in an area.
@Diya DanuElishmar | Dynastic Legacy, LLC In my area, I did Quests in November, but haven't seen any since. With Quests, I had my best delivery day ever, but it's been almost 2 months since then. Maybe I was too good?!
Once they track that you are driving often, they know you are going to be doing the rides anyway. No need to pay you extra. If you take a month off from the app, they will offer another incentive to get you back on the road.
Hey, I’ve seen some of your videos and there is something wrong with my uber driver app, i can never see the earnings upfront, I’ve talk to support so many times that im already tired. Any advice?
Can you explain this? I listen to a morning radio show from St. Louis, the other day they discussed how DD was going to deliver Girl Scout cookies, a guest on the show , said he would never order from DD because of how the restaurants get screwed from DD. I have heard this before, ie: the Domino;s commercial, Can you explain this , how does the restaurants profit or not from food deliveries. Thanks
I only made $41 in 3 hours this morning 7 trips ouch. I like Uber eats better because I don’t like the liability and safety aspect of hauling passengers but so far I’ve done better with Lyft in the phoenix area with ride share. I also don’t drive at night with passengers in my car after being assaulted for Uber. Also I highly recommend a dash cam for your safety and your customers.

Another thing I figured out is areas with a high concentration of restaurants AND hotels is a goldmine. I love hotel deliveries because they're usually ordering from restaurants in that same proximity and they always leave a decent tip. $8.50 for 1.3 miles yes please. Thank you.
I do this in downtown. I’ll just use public transportation and deliver. It saves gas and i love those hotel customers. They tip great 👍
I always always text upon arrival at restaurants with “ Good morning , I’m just waiting for your order “ which opens the door for a reply ( often ) .
Sometimes I’ll be told of a last minute change or other details. If I have a second pick up or stacked orders I’ll say “ I’ll be there as quick as I can”
The number one rule in my book is to use HEAT BAGS.
Thank you so much, i just started the Uber eats but I’m little nervous to try it and seeing your video it help me a lot.
The college I deliver to give good tips.
Thanks for the info
U should have a youtube channel and give tips 👍
Thanks for the tip 👍
@@luxuryqueen42 I do. Click my name and sub me! LOL! I've got a lot of videos and analysis regarding rideshare on my channel.
@@luxuryqueen42 and you're VERY welcome!!!
@@MicDropBBQ FYI also for extended stay hotels like Studio 6, they’re like apartments so i dont know if u delivered there.
I use my Doordash bag for my deliveries as well. I also purchased a bag for large orders and pizza bag.
I did 4-5 hours of delivery today for the first time and I am surprised tips were half of my total earnings.
Thanks for the tips. I live in a small town, and being a total beginner, I was making long drives out of power strip. lol.
Tips is how we survive. Uber likes to nickle and dime us.
Tip baiting. People from certain colleges do it a LOT
Call uber and tell them they should adjust your rate. Happens to me and 2 days later Uber will email me they adjusted my fare.
If they did the bonus each week that would be great I'd do it more. Especially with gas prices now. The 2.50 payouts though kind of made me do it as a side job now.
Point #2 is the one that I think is most impactful for me getting great paying orders.
Customers please don't take naps while we're on our way! If it was me I'd be there to retrieve my food while it's hot!!....Thank you!
Omg!! That drives me insane like how are they so sleepy after they ordered food idk how long they expect us to be before we are there lol
Oh don’t let it be night time the porch light never on.
@@deelee6080 i wouldnt deliver at night for safety reasons

Thanks! As a customer service specialist in other areas, this video was reassuringly helpful 💪🏾🤘🏾🙏🏾
in new zeaqland they will only pay out the higher of the two boosted options.. so if surge pay is higher than the 1.2 boost. you will only be paid once, and at the higher amount.. but not both stacked to make a really big boost..
In the Fort Myers market, it barely pays what you can claim on your taxes. They no longer offered quest. They only did quest for a little bit of time.
What about turning Uber eats on while at home waiting for orders if you live close to merchants. Works most of the time for me but I wonder if it’s makes a difference if I go out n wait closer by the strips ?
I do the same but I wonder if I can make more by going through other strips
I do that for DoorDash, however it really depends on the area
I always turn it on in the driveway as I'm leaving to go to my area I like. I'm pretty sure they're sending you proximity based orders. I'm in an area where there isn't much within a mile. If I turned it on at home and waited I'd probably be waiting all day for an order to pop. lol
😅😅 I do the same thing ...request is non stop and sends me anywhere when I'm at home. .
Mike you're the best man!
Also let the customer know when your in route and when you arrive. 😊
I just started UE today and made $60.00 in three hours! I'm really impressed so far
*thing yet.
Unfortunately I live near bad inner city areas and those areas have the most restaurants and orders, but arent the safest, so I stick to the suburbs and since its summer and everyone is eating out, not much orders, been slow all summer. In the colder months I made a lot doing ubereats since everyone was inside.
Thanks for the real info.
But in Australia we dont pay tips. And may I ask, after delivering do you drive back to the hot zone to get more orders?
The Logan’s roadhouse in my city consistently gives me amazing orders. 3 times I’ve had a customer tip $20+
Thanks for the tips, just recently signed up for UberEats
I've been doing this for almost 2 months, countless hours and never received any promotions or anything. Only surge pay. I drive around collecting surge pay and then never get orders. Here in East PA it's a busy area lots of restaurants and Uber advertises make 17 an hour sign in now and I'll wait 3 hrs to get a 6 dollar order. A lot of miles and ware and tare on my vehicle for 6 dollars for 3 hours.
You need to do a video about the terrible decision Uber has made where they won't show you the upfront address if you decline only a few orders. It infuriates me as a driver.
Worst decision ever!!
It just happened to me yesterday. I just closed the app and went home. I'm not driving if I don't know where I'm going. Areas I refuse to deliver too.
Really? I just started and i decline orders that are taking me out of my bussy zone. Or zones where i probaly will not get good orders. If uber does this we are employes because they are controlling us. We are not self-employed
That's just awful. Thankfully that ain't happening in my market.
Its downright dangerous too
Thanks Mike, great help! I'm on UE Nashville.
UE has recently sent us squiggly lines for hot spots. I went to one last night and sat for 20 min and got no orders. I live .05 miles from 50-75 restaurants so I am staying home.
Just did my first shift and after gas cost, i averaged about 9-10 dollars an hour including tips. Minimum wage in my state is 15.
Awesome. Great tips probably best info I've gotten. Talks to you and not at you!!
I never get bonuses or opportunities, I’m so confused!
Thanks. Greeat Tips!! Especially the photo hack!
Much appreciated
Hey Mike! how about a video on low cost options for a body cam setup for safety?
How is a body cam going to keep you safe?
Videos helped us a lot on our 2nd week and things working great
I dont know if this is happening in my market area but I dont think I can stack bonuses like surge and boost cant apply at the same time. Whichever is the highest they pay you. I'm new to UE but i still havent seen a Quest at all. Also the requests that i get are usually $3-5 range. anything more than that means long drives. like $7 means 25-35 min trips. Any suggestions how to counter this?
My city doesn't qualify for UE's surge pays, nor have I seen any quests or promotions. :/
Sounds like UE just isn't popular enough in your area
Maybe.. and I could be wrong, my market doesnt see too many surge/bonuses but I have found certain areas to sit.
You drop the best knowledge so far About how things really are , And what a person could expect.
I just started driving for UE last week and I was wondering if any of this still applies.
UE in my market area is awful. Lot of miles for less money. Tip baiting is out of control. When I first started with UE is was great. After about 150 delivery started going down hill. I took one delivery yesterday in a 4 hour window.
I print out stickers that say Have a great day!! Thank you Kena...I put them on every order
when i take the picture i take my delivery bag/box to include in the pic and add in the message ''Bon Appetit and have a nice day/evening'' just to let the customers that i took care of their food by keeping it hot and secured
Don’t take the 2.00 orders from fast food your gonna get no tip 99% of the time
Exactly. Keep it at 7/10 or more
No bonuses or search pay here in Pinellas county Florida or Tampa.😮
How do you get promotions or quests? I've gotten nothing, just skip the line passes for my local airport (useless)...
This happened to me with doordash. I was making that exact amount of money with doordash and then they slashed my money down also hard.
In South Florida the word Quest has long disappeared, 2019 and 2020 there were quests nearly every weekend. We’re lucky to get surge areas now..
You keep referring to a "Quest" for bonuses. We have yet to see that promotion in our area (the phoenix area). Is this just in some markets, like areas that don't have enough drivers? We also never see more than 1.1 boost in an area.
Its kinda rare in my area
@Diya DanuElishmar | Dynastic Legacy, LLC In my area, I did Quests in November, but haven't seen any since. With Quests, I had my best delivery day ever, but it's been almost 2 months since then. Maybe I was too good?!
I'm in the DC area. We don't have boosts, but we do have weekday and weekend quests, and surges (rarely). I guess it all depends on the market.
Once they track that you are driving often, they know you are going to be doing the rides anyway. No need to pay you extra. If you take a month off from the app, they will offer another incentive to get you back on the road.
For some reason, I don't get any promotions like take 40 trips and get X amount, that option just vanished
No matter what you do you end up making five dollars an hour after gas
I have electric lol
First day doing uber eats during lunch and dinner. Made tips equal to my fares. I dont know if thats very good or not
Hey, I’ve seen some of your videos and there is something wrong with my uber driver app, i can never see the earnings upfront, I’ve talk to support so many times that im already tired. Any advice?
How do know where to find a power strip
Hi I just started doing Uber driver, and does the ( Para )Map help or not or is it just better to stay with Uber's?
Thanks for your tips! Very helpful!
Thanks
Cuz they have to pay a percentage too for using a 3rd party delivery service
I only made $41 in 3 hours this morning 7 trips ouch. I like Uber eats better because I don’t like the liability and safety aspect of hauling passengers but so far I’ve done better with Lyft in the phoenix area with ride share. I also don’t drive at night with passengers in my car after being assaulted for Uber. Also I highly recommend a dash cam for your safety and your customers.
This is great! I just started Uber Eating in Pittsburgh and live near Lawrenceville. Any suggestions?

How is Uber life in downtown (I'm up near Wexford/Ross Township)? I hate driving in cities, how do you manage deliveries/parking down there? I am envious of the surges down there but not sure I want to deal with the headaches...
Every marketplace does well when they roll it out as they did in New York City 3 years ago. Then it will dry out. You will make money in New York City but not as much as you did as three years ago.
been with Uber Eats for 3 weeks haven't seen a single quest yet. Are these not given to new drivers?
Too bad they dont offer any incentives or bonuses anymore
How does surge pay work? I've gotten the notification at the bottom of my screen multiple times for different amounts but I never see it reflected in my pay!
