I learned this “labeling” tip from my dad. Take a Sharpie and write the name of the medication (and any instructions) on the CAP of the Rx. For instance, Levo 1/d (Levothyroxine once per day). My night pill has ZZZ on the lid. When you get the refill, just swap out caps. This is especially helpful if the printing on the label is very small.
On OTC, I write how many to take, and the expiration date. For instance, on something for headaches, I’ll write 2x6hr exp 2/22.

Also, is it a one-time project or an ongoing one?
I got totally overwhelmed so I'm trying to get all the one-time projects out of the way (changing curtains, hanging pictures in bedroom) so I can focus on ongoing ones with a clearer mind.
I have an illness that keeps me in bed A LOT, but I try to do 2 chores every time I get up (dishes, trash out, meal prep, quick vacuum) so that the daily things don't totally spiral out of control.
Now if I can get one-time chores done, it will seem more manageable.
Also, like to schedule by season rather than by month. Gives breathing room.

My mom used to rhyme about stuff - a lot. She would say, “A place for everything, and everything in its place.” Her favorite was about my glasses, which I always was taking off and just leaving somewhere: “On the face, or in the case!” My kids now say this to me - so apparently that one didn’t work, but it definitely got passed down to the next generation. 😂

I've just recently discovered your videos and I cannot express just how grateful I am. I always kept a neat and clean home until about ten years ago when chronic health issues and debilitating pain tremendously slowed me down more and more. My housekeeping and organizational efforts have taken a nosedive. Taking an hour to wash my dishes (no dishwasher aside from the two hands God gave me) is not an exaggeration because I need to take breaks. I love your style and the way you present yourself as well as the lessons you've learned and put into practice along your journey. Plus I don't hear you reminding me three times during each video of every one of the books you've written by title (no offense to *her* --another organizational expert-- but those titles are best noted in the description section, but that's just my opinion). You also don't push the "it's easy, just do it!" mentality. You say to take 2 minutes, take 20 minutes. I can work with that method. *She* must have said just "do the dishes" a dozen times in one video and then demonstrated unloading and loading her dishwasher which might have taken her all of 3 minutes. 🙄 My pain is real and I understand that the entire audience is not in my predicament and most people can even wash dishes by hand in a fraction of the time it takes me. What I'm trying to say is, I get you. And like a really good Church Minister, you feed me I a way that is good.
    Karen in Missouri
Again, thanks for breaking down these tasks into small bites that do not feel overwhelming. You are loved and appreciated.

I'm in the same boat. It really stinks having a brain that thinks I can still do everything and a body that won't let me. I do keep a small tote bag near my chair and that has helped me with containing the clutter and putting things away. (Especially when toting things up the stairs) I've always been very independent, so it really bothers me to ask for help but I've learned to delegate the big things, or they never get done. I also do chair exercises for five minutes at least every hour on the hour. Gotta keep using it before I lose it. When microwaving or doing a chore I make sure to add some kind of movement while I wait. It's not easy but I force it. Praying for you...

❤️Which Professional Organizers did you find your hacks from? I love Andrew Mellen's System❤️
Rule #1: One Home For Everything- Every item has one home and only one home. No ifs, ands or buts.
Rule #2: Like With Like- All like objects live together. And we do mean all.
Rule #3: Something In, Something Out- Once you reach stuff equilibrium-having enough of everything that serves you and nothing that doesn’t-when something comes in, something goes out.
We use the first 2 rules to GET organized; and use the 3rd rule to STAY organized. ❤️ Love his Organizational Triangle System❤️

"Don't bring something home until you know where it's going to live" works well combined with limiting items to a certain space. When I'm at a store and see something I like, in addition to considering price and whether I will actually use it, I picture the space where I'll store it and determine if there's room for it. If not, I don't buy it. This has limited the number of kitchen gadgets and appliances I buy due to the limited space. Although I still really really want a Kitchen Aid mixer....

Love this. I use the term “threshold routine” to refer to the habits of putting away as soon as I come in the door (or cross the threshold of my home) creating a threshold routine and actually writing it down and practicing it made such a difference for me. I actually go over the routine in the car as soon as I pull into the driveway. It preps me to actually do it when I come in.
The other thought I had that sounds like one of your tips is the 30:10 rule: if it will only take 30 more seconds or 10 more steps, put it away right now. Don’t leave it to put away later.

In my mind, purging is a synonym for decluttering. Also in my mind, decluttering is a seemingly insurmountable monumental task. However, the way Kallie describes purging makes it seem doable on a daily basis and not such a big deal. Here is a little tip from me related to putting things away in other rooms - I'm in a small apartment with an upstairs and one of the things I do is keep a basket upstairs and on the bottom of the stairs and I fill them with items that need to go up or down. It helps me to have what I need... and to put things away.

More peace and productivity...absoLUTEly what you get when you're more organized. I can so relate to the bad habits you had because I was (and still am by nature) the same way and I'm now making a conscious effort to be more organized and mindful of our space and what is in it. In order to accommodate an additional table and seating for a dinner party we had (pre Covid shutdown) I rearranged our sofa and loveseat which not only opened up the space but spurred me on to rethinking rooms, cupboards and closets (the bane of my existence.) Thanks for a great video! We are works in progress! xo

Thank you for making this video! I tend to hoard things that I really don't need and I shift a pile of things to a different area instead of addressing that I need to get rid of that stuff so this was really helpful. I'm definitely going to start doing minimalism in small steps so hopefully by the end of the year I won't have anything out of place or piling up

I bought 8 half gallon jars on Amazon and dedicated each one to things I use a lot , sugar, rice, macaroni, pene, rotini, masa, coffee. And I buy more from bulk when I’m at about 1/4 jar. And pint Masons with aftermarket plastic twist top lids. Buying from bulk saves on marketing and packaging. I use an acrylic paint pen to label them so I can wash it off if I need to. It makes your pantry look so nice!

If my space is cluttered and messy and unstructured, I am so irritable! I try not to let this become me being such a clean freak that my kids and spouse feel anxious in their own home. But I find if I can find a balance and at least have one time during the day where we all take responsibility for the shared home, it makes life manageable and my home far more peaceful😌

I really enjoy your videos. Love the idea of continuous purging. I would like to see a video go deeper into handling the mail, a problem area for us! Once we open it, it just sort of sits around, albeit in it’s place. Too bad for us, it’s place is on top of our hutch. Thanks for all the good info.

1st one is "Let the container be the bad guy".
2nd: Find a storage system that works for you.
3rd: "Don't put it down, put it away".
4th "A home for everything and everything in it's home".
    5th: Declutter daily.
6th: Take a picture of your space to detect clutter/make it visual again.
7th: Basically same to no. 3. Do it now, not later.
    (+ Never leave a room/place empty handed.)
    8th: Label, label, label!!

Recently doing organization and that's my plan
a place for everything and everything in its place or it has to go
What I've learned is. ... i need to work where my energy is daily in order to continue this process and not to get overwhelmed and stuck or nothing gets done
    Energy gets us started
Seeing the benefits of the change keeps us motivated
    Changes keep us inspired
Make it a great day. ...
Today I'm organizing cds Woot Woot Yayyyyy i believe I'll be dancing with the music while getting things done

thank you for all the tips!!! I am a self-professed organization geek OCDer, I love when everything is organized and in place and that there is a place for everything! one rule I've been practising lately is if I put something away and don't need it for more than a year, must reconsider the need for it, especially with non-essential things! I'm also trying to get into the habit of getting rid of clothes that I have not worn for more than a year, this December will be a big purge, anything I don't feel comfortable wearing, tight or just not me anymore is going bye bye!!! thank you for he advise on decluttering closets 😍😀

I need to have a clean and organized house to be able to relax too. We have a small home with limited closets so I have to be creative with storage and try to put things away daily. But like you mentioned I get busy and things get cluttered up or not put away immediately. Then I’m like a cleaning Ninja and go to town decluttering and purging. It feels like an endless cycle. Thank you for sharing this video. It was helpful.

Point number three - I think of these as “transitions”. It is easy to disregard them, because the “important” parts of your day are “being out doing errands” and then then “at home prepping lunch” etc. But I found it really helpful to acknowledge the transition phase between these parts of your day, and to acknowledge what needs to happen to successfully move from one stage to the next, and then build a mini routine for it.

Yay! No pantry. But one time we had one but we didnt know WHAT it WAS??!!! It was a 2 door closet in the kitchen with a light and a switch to turn it on. On the Outside of it. Wow. It had these deeeeeep shelves someone put in there 5 i think. I was in 5th grade and I lay in each of the shelves i could put a twin bed in there. We werent handy back then but when my brother moved into his second house with his wife they had one but someone put all the shelves all the way around the inside and you could walk in and take something off a shallow shelf that had a lip to hold things in. And you could see everything. Wow. Ours was a mish mash of food cans potatoes bags of rice pastas lamps lamp shades vases Christmas decor who knows? I wish we had popped those shelves out and put in shallow ones. But we didn't know you could! Lol
