I am a visual organizer, but I have to put my arts and crafts stuff in boxes - and sometimes these boxes in cupboards. So what I do is simple: I photograph the open boxes and when they are in the cupboard I photograph that as well.
And then I transfer this photo information onto my computer and meticulously name every photo with box number and which cupboard it is in. That is a giant task, but I only have to do it once and update it occasionally. And saves so much time when I don't have to search for things - and clutter everything up in the process.

Those pink bins are adorable. If my dollar tree has some of these, I might buy like 10. I love using bins like that on a bookshelf to hold stuff that I use together and store together.
That way I can store away my nail polish remover with the cotton balls, my base and top coats, and all my nail art tools. I display the colored polishes on an acrylic display above the basket. Then I can just grab one basket, choose the colors, and move to the table to work on my nails. I do this with hair dying equipment like gloves and foils and brushes. I do it with journaling supplies. I do it with my skin care. And it's so nice to be able to dump it all back in the basket and put it on a shelf so this stuff doesn't end up all over my house scattered across the last surface I used it on.
I have a bunch of baskets I use for this, but they are mismatched and it's like doing a puzzle to arrange them neatly on the shelf. I'd love to be able to make them uniform.

Thank you for sharing . Gosh 👀 that first tip about finding a home near the hot spot is genius.
I laughed so much about your end story with the oven .lol . I must admit I hate taking my rubbish out my bin and taking it outside ..I leave it to the last minute after everything has been pushed down and compacted in my bin by so much that trying to pull the bag out seems to create a vacuum and it’s harder to do or worse the bag splits lol , I think it’s because I always saw my dad take out the rubbish ..I associate it beings a mans job but I haven’t lived with a man for 20 years lol . My son is now 24 and I occasionally say to him my feelings about my bin theory and he’s so wonderful he says I will do it ..and he honestly means it ..problem is he officially has short term memory problems so he forgets he’s offered, ( it’s all fun and games in this house , but I adore him 😉) and I just end up doing it 😏. Oh I love the file folder from dollar tree wire separator. Hubby is a stacker, but will use an upright file sorter if it’s prepared for him. I am totally going to make these for him to hang on the wall. The ones I could find were astronomical in price. Do you have a video on the lazy clutter? Our home is 75% lazy clutter. Hugs to you! My thoughts, first if they don’t put things away will you do it for them? Then stop for a while so they have a reason to do it. Second, as a adult I realised parents growl at their kid, especially teens, that their room is a mess do fix it but do they ever Ask why?
Like maybe clothes is all over surfaces because their actual home is not organized in a way that makes it easy to find and put away. Or maybe they Need to try things on to Know so maybe a Big bin where they can temporary put tried on clothes. Etc etc:)
At the end of the day, if ppl really dont want to and face no real consequence, they won’t.

Sarah ... have you tried a tickler file system??
Most people have 12 file folders for each month and 31 folders for each day of the month. . . however i made mine with 12 monthly hanging folders plus 7 hanging folders for each day of the week. . .i simply don't need the 31 days added.
I also added one for 'Loose paper' i find laying around the house. A 'Quick Reference' folder and a 'To File' folder to temporarly hold papers til i can do some filing. A lot of times items in the 'To File' folder is no longer relevant by my filing day and can be discarded.
When a paper comes in your house file it in the month or month before it requires action. If it doesn't require action but needs to be kept either pop it in the To File folder or quickly add it to your long term reference filing system. If there's something that needs to be done but has no paper simply write a note to drop into the appropriate month or day of the week. On the 1st of the month or a few days before, look thru this months and the upcoming month to see if there's anything you can put in the 7 daily folders. . . It's vital to regularly check your folders (daily and monthly) first of each month and first of each week. . . It all sounds waaay more complicated than it is! It's actually very easy to set up and maintain.
Since i will be looking at my tickler file all the time, i splurged a bit and bought my hanging folders in a gorgeous pink kept in a frosted file bin.
This has been a MASSIVE life changer for me.
Years ago i made a tickler file in a 5x8 binder that worked ok (and very portable) but it became a hassle to find the binder, open to the correct page wiggle a paper in there and then the same routine when retreiving paper out of it. . .with a hanging system it only takes micro seconds to pull up slightly the folder by the tab, to drop in or retrieve a paper.
Hope this helps you and others as much as it's helped me. 👍😉

I can honestly say that learning I am a ladybug has changed my home immensely. I failed at cricket style all the time. My paperwork is in order since beginning of the year and it's working! I replaced an open shelf pantry thingy and bought one with doors that close. I know why it bugged Ladybug me: It was too visual. I've learned a lot from Dana K W about decluttering and learning some minimalist techniques from Dawn. All this knowledge has been put to use and my home is better now. Thank you!

It was either 1) have clutter, 2) forget to do something, or 3) make a list and forget to look at the list. These tips are fab! Thank you!

About a month or so ago, I stored dirty dishes in my over for the first time in over 30 years (I'm not sure I have done it before). I did it because I needed a time to get it all done and not feel overwhelmed by the clutter until i could. We often put our leftover pizza, a sheet pan of cornbread or dessert in the oven and then absent mindedly preheated the oven. Because I almost re-baked a pizza in the box a couple of weeks before, I've resorted to sticking a sticky backed arrow to my oven knob. That way I see the arrow, that way it triggers my brain that I left something in there. I have warped a couple of spatula handles by not remembering something is in the oven 🥺🤣😂🤣🤔

A few years ago i decluttered under the sink, and there was enough space for a flexible plastic tub. So that's what i use, if i need to get the dishes out of sight.
