Lol me too. I've had the service engine light on for the last three years with a catalytic converter gasket code. I paid $1100 to have the catalytic converter's replaced. I changed all of the oxygen sensors myself. I did absolutely nothing and they told me I need to catalytic converter's knowing that that bolt was broken. Everybody sucks at their job I swear. I just bought this part today so hopefully it does the trick. Seems like it's made pretty well.

I had 2 busted bolts, both on the driver's side (front-most and rear-most).
I found a similar kit on Amazon (from Temsone) that resolved both my broken bolts.
    Decent quality but China built...
    (They used a 16mm head?! Nobody uses a 16mm?!)
*A 5/8 SAE flex head ratchet wrench worked fine*
    *** IMPORTANT NOTE ***
On my 07 Escalade EXT the block ground cable uses the same hole that the bracket's top bolt is going to need.
The bracket kit I bought came painted (i.e. Grounding problem!)
Before you install it, grind the paint off the bracket on both sides of the mating surface around the top bolt.
(TH-cam GM block grounding issues, to learn more about the symptoms you're going to avoid by taking my advice on stripping the paint...)
And yeah... The rear one sucked...
(Turn on some smooth jazz, put the beer on ice and schedule lots of frusteration breaks...)

I saw a trick that will take about 15 mins. If you want to ck for exhaust leaks to be 100% sure on both sides hook a shop vac on blow and put in exhaust pipe and a bottle of soap and water and spray all around both manifolds and look for bubbles like checking a air leak on a tire. Great video may buy it I just found mine today same space. Using a wrench will take years comment made me laugh as that's what I'm gonna use lol. F!
    Cheers.

I’ve seen those videos. Seems like blowing all that soot in your exhaust back into your engine could be a disaster but you live and learn I guess.

I have #7 -1-8 broken 7 has both broke I have a express 3500 van w/ 6.0 I think there's enough room to attach the tool, will use your link to buy tool.
I don't really see alot of blackness carbon coating around header. w/ 3 broken bolts how much power an I losing?
I'd remove the header if I could replace w/ a long tube however noone makes long tubes for express vans, an I've been told truck headers won't fit bc the van van is closer to engine. thanks for the video

This exact same bolts are gone on my 05 Sierra. The end bolt is either missing or broke off, I am waiting to borrow a borescope to see. But im gonna do this, looks like a bitch to do inside the truck though.

You needed to fix the leak so the wideband would read correctly. lmao xD That's the only reason I put mine on.

  • @michaelclisham8790

Extremely difficult to tighten the bolts. It took hours! Another issue is the vibration causes the bolts to loosen. I think a solution would be to put lock nuts on both sides of the bolt to the manifold.

Sounds like a knock until it heats up, just found two broken exhaust bolts on driver side of my yukon one in the front and one in the back. Thought I had a knock but it would go away completely after the truck warmed up, im gonna have to get that.

If you replace these bolts every 2 years you will never have broken exhaust manifold bolts. unfortunately these bolts are not going to last the full engine life 200 to 400k miles.

@ryanthibeaux did you actually run an exhaust leak test or is the noise better? Mine did not fix the leak at all. You will get a code at some point with a leak. Ended up having to pull the exhaust and welding nuts on the broken studs and removing them. If I can do it so can you.
