Thank you for this video! I replaced one of the drivers and it worked! By the way, the new driver was out of phase for me too! had to re-open the cup and swap the wires
One of the drivers on my newer DT990s died and i had older broken pair of DT990s for parts. i harvested the left driver from older pair to repair the left one on newer one and i noticed that the wires were swapped. BUT there are markings next to wires. look at 0 and 1. on older driver they were swapped markings too. so instead of looking at wire colours you need to look at driver for the 0 and 1 On 2:04 you can see him removing white cable from 1. but on his replacement driver that side has 0 marked on, indicating he needed to swap them.
how did you tell the speaker had the opposit phase, i think thats what happened after my repair. it's annoying cos it's under warrenty and sending it to them costs me money I found wearing the headphones backward and flipping the audio channle sounds like the sound is going the correcty way IN to my ear instead of away from it. (forward) is this what you experienced?
i have same problem with DT 150 but it's most probably break in the cable somewhere since it has some areas where it is really worn out, DT 990 Pro seems to have much better designed cable atleast.

Ok, I checked my 33 ohm DT 770 and the driver reads 33.3 so I suppose ut is bot the speaker. The continuity part is hard to follow. But these are new ! Just used 2 times. So I dont think it is the cable. Also Cannot return them. Can you hive specifics on how to check the cable ?

BE SUPER CAREFUL AT 0:48 - I was but the last time i tried to lever the second side i still slipped and stabbed one of the compartments of the white membrane. Now my good old "DT990 Edition" creaks at certain bass frequencies 🤮😢

It looks my DT770 have the same issue. They fell from the wall on the floor and left earcup stopped playing:/ You worried me by saying it's not repairable, I mean this thin wire... and only solution is to by a new driver. I thought it would be possible to fix it somehow without buying new one.

I fixed mine, the tiny wire had come loose from the solder and I just had to melt the solder and get the tiny wire caught back into it. Mine are now fixed!
damn it, probably the same ting happend to me, my dog steped on the cable and the headphones fell too the floor. Only time this has happend after 2 years. Right side is not working at all. Opend but coun't se any problem. So probably damaged the tiny har in some way. Problem is I have no tools like you do...
In my phones one ear fades out until it's quiet. I then unplug and re-plug them a few times and then they work for a while again. Done this since new. Not impressed with Beyerdynamics.
@@alxk3995 The sales representative claimed that it was my source that was at fault. After trying multiple different sources with the same result I went back and was told that my two year warranty was now expired and that I couldn't expect any help from Beyerdynamic. I would strongly recommend going with a more reliable and more used headphone like the Sony 7506 for example.
This has happened to me. The 3.5mm jack snapped in half. Instead of replacing the lead I fixed a 3.5mm female jack. Right side is working, left isn't. The tiny wire is damaged, snapped. Looks like it's time to order a new driver.

Hey thanks for this vid, I got a untested pair of these and the left driver is not working, I would've never noticed the hair-thin wire was broken
but always check wires with multimeter from jack to speaker, not always problem is broken driver.

find in local internet shop, but the best option is to write beyerdynamic
1:33 this was my problem! Resoldered the tiny wire and then put a dab of superglue over those wires on both ear-pieces to be on the safe side.

The wires in my headphone is fine but the speaker itself fall from the headphone and it’s not working how can I fix that :(

but it can be damaged inside speaker voice coil. Just use multimeter, to check speaker.

That sounds like a case for warranty. Mine only failed after years of daily usage.

These headphones are actually super cheap for the audio quality. And electronics can always fail, no matter the quality or how much it costs.
