Thanks for video didn't know you needed a 5mm allen key to stop it spinning!

Recommend this video big time, every other video shows situations that may happen, whereas thia video shows how it would ideally go from start to finish

Thanks! I generally do this when replacing brake pads. I also replace the sway bar bushings at the same time. Cheap and easy wear items.

This might be an old video but just what I needed for a 2000 outback. I noticed some of the ball joints are kept from spinning with an Allen wrench in the end (my American size fit) and some use an open end wrench ( which is much better)

This repair is even easier than doing a brake job. Please leave a comment if you've given this job a try.

The secret is to preloosen the pivots.
They're so stiff you think they're solid but I put a socket on the shaft and cracked it loose by hand. Wiggled it back and forth. Then I made it line up with the holes.
Never would have worked at the angle it came.

From everything I've read, the torque spec on those sway bar end links is fairly low, like 18-35, sometimes (Moog) even lower at 14 ft-lbs.

if car feels like its floating or wheels might fall could the sway bar be the issue?

do i need to jack up the car on both sides at the front, or is jacking up the car on one side (the one on which you replace the link) also ok? (i was asking myself, if there would be too much tension on the sway bar, if the car is just jacked up at one point, resulting in some kind of warping and the front axis not being symmetric causing that the link will be hard to be removed).
    thanks

Did you ever get an answer to this question? How many jacks did you use to do yours?

It's crazy, my local Subaru dealership wants to charge $140 to do this. It's an hour rated job, the main issue is the rusted bolt.

You're lucky! My local Subaru dealership charges $185 just to look at it (labor), and wants close to $450 to do this job....

Please don't do annoying repetitive music in your videos. . . silence is better. I was watching another video with disabled comments. God awful annoying.
