Thank you for such a comprehensive, detailed look at what has to be one of the most beautiful and charming towns I think I've ever seen. Very, very helpful, particularly in that, along with geographical features and historical sites, you also show maps, along with the basic things one can expect to find, so far as public amenities, shopping areas, etc. Very nicely done!

I lived in Burley in Wharfedale between 2014 and 2018. I can say Ilkley is worth a visit.

Heaven on earth ,been coming most years since 1955 my great uncle Jack Mawson introduced me to the moor ,I learned to swim in the Lido ,he was a great believer in people learning to swim ,as he was at Gallipoli in ww1,he advised Ilkley council on water supply when he retired from south shield water department in Sunderland and returned to his native home of Ilkley .
He and his wife had a house in Parklands and we use to walk to Dalton’s the butchers and down Brook st under the metal bridge to mrs Kemp’s sweetie shop ,and also drive in his big Wolseley to Bolton Abbey , Brim ham rocks etc ,Halcyon days never lost the magic!

We lived for many years in Burley Woodhead and I first went to school in Ilkley . Above Ilkley are the Cow and Calf rocks over looking the Wharf Valley and Ilkley . We always shopped in and around the town. A lovely place with the Grove shopping street . Mum loved the town and eventually moved to Ilkley until she died ! We all.loved the peaceful town lying alongside the glorious River Wharf
