  • A guide around one of the most beautiful towns in Yorkshire. This Cathedral town was one of three in the medieval period alongside York and Ripon.
However, its history goes back to 700AD when the Minster church was founded. Its historu can be traced through its buildings from around 1200 up to today - a lot predominantly date from around 1800.
Using 4k film from a car and a hand held camera along its streets, intercut with photographs and maps, as well as other exclusive footage shot in the town; we follow a circular route showing you what to see on a day visit - even if you live here, you'll find something new out!
This is part of ‪@aroundaboutyorkshire2776‬ an ever growing series of films that will cover every part (well, almost!) that have been compiled from a series of 170 talks that has taken 5 years to compile. Other Guides include: The Great Wold Valley (East Yorkshire); Ribblesdale (Yorkshire Dales) and the Upper Dearne Valley (West Yorkshire) and a further 70 videos on Yorkshire.
Please Subscribe to hear about new films being added weekly.

Thank you for that. Brought back many memories. I used to be a bellringer at the Minster in the 1950s and a server for the communion services in the days when people still went to church. My father worked at Armstrong Patents who made shock absorbers for all the UK motor manufacturers. My first job was as a waiter at the Beverley Arms, then a Trust house hotel. I now live in Leipzig, Germany.

Hi John, You don't remember my grandad do you, Joe Wilson. He was an occasional bellringer at the Minster but it was probably later than the 50s. I've started putting some of his colour cine films on TH-cam and a few do feature the Minster.

Born in Beverley some 60 years ago I returned recently after an absence of 40 years. Whatever happened to Greens, The Little Cafe, Mitchells, Haversnack and Sellit & Soon? Alas, progress decrees the usual suspects are now out in force so the chains have taken over, though their time will soon come (Paperchase RIP). Still enchanting and a rather wonderfull peaceful place to while away some time. Thanks for the guided tour to parts I have ne'er frequented...

Thanks so much! Watched 2 of your smashing videos now, York was the other, a city I love. The videos have been a welcome and much needed diversion during lockdown. Perhaps once all this passes, you could take a closer look at other Yorky gems like Hebden Bridge, Heptonstall, Halifax (Piece Hall)? Thanks again. Steph

In 20 years, when I'm 35, I'll look back on this and think "wow, Beverley has changed a lot," as it has changed since a video from the 1960s.
