Even her 6 year old brother wanted to sew so I helped him make a mug rug. He was so proud of himself. After reading some of your viewers comments I have to wonder if they are actually paying attention?? You left nothing out…the walking foot attachment was mentioned more than once and I have no doubt that your daughter’s safety is your number one priority as you teach her how to sew. My life is insane right now but when things calm down I want to get back into sewing and teach my little grandgirls. Hi Chelsea, instead of a metal awl, from the dollar store get some 6-inch or 12inch bamboo skewers. The long ones can be broken in half. The sharp end is perfect for holding down or guiding your material through the needle without worrying that your needle is going to hit that metal awl. The narrow point is very forgiving if the needle touches it.
Love this bag... I would leave the lining off I dont need it... but definitely love the rest of the bag with the strap great idea..I would use it for my sewing projects while traveling..you come up with some nice projects..thanks..

I loved watching this video. You have such a positive attitude. I think your approach can help new sewers feel less stressed. I love it when people who have been sewing forever tell about mistakes that they have made because for far too long in my life I thought I was the only one who struggled with such things. It’s nice to know that even the most experienced sewist can make mistakes and move on. There are a couple of things that I think could be helpful to newbies. The first is if you could mention in some of your future videos how often the needle in the sewing machine should be changed. The second is to remind us that we need to have our needle in the down position when we lift the presser foot, for example when we turn a corner. I know new machines default to the needle down position but older ones don’t. Anyway, thanks for your videos, I need some encouragement to get back to sewing. I have so many projects I need to work on but because of my busy schedule I lost my desire and focus. These simple projects are often what I need to get back into the swing of things. :)

I think this would be great for a cellphone, wallet/money/credit cards and car keys when you are at the pool, beach or on a boat. Maybe even half the size if using for these items. Then they are sure to stay safe and dry.

Nikki I also had a home ec teacher that made classes miserable. But fortunately my mother had me sewing by the time I was 7 on her old singer treadle machine. I have a question about your Brother. Do you have a problem with bobin thread knotting up and making a mess under your project? I've had 2 do that but I thought they were just old. I bought Brother GQ3700 but haven't used it yet ( just because I needed to get some crocheting done). My cousin said that Brother's are notorious for knotting up. But I've had problems with other brands.

This seems like a wonderful chance to up-cycle my “fabric” waterproof shower curtain liner. They tend to stain on the bottoms but with a nice wash in BrightWhite and cutting the lower portion off, I can make bags for close friends and family. Sunscreen bag comes to mind. Also, Diaper changing mat comes to mind. Keep wipes and diapers and a mat inside this bag and throw it in the stroller.

My niece sewed through her finger while at class this year. The school called EMS and they sent her to the hospital WITH the sewing machine! Looking at the picture I ask why they did just unscrew the needle from the machine while at the school. No one had a good answer - lol. She was fine, no stiches.
I think she was saying release the needle from the machine, not remove the needle from her finger. 🤷♀️ I can just picture them carrying the sewing machine with the young lady attached into the ER! 😮
