Also. Another cheap lining is using a table cloth that has vinyl on one side and flannel on the back. BTW....I love your attitude about it. I have the same attitude and I've been sewing for over 45 years. I had 2 wonderful sewing "teachers"..... my mother in law and later an elderly friend. I am now starting to teach my 9 year old granddaughter. Last year she made a small quilt for herself. I gave her a sewing machine for Christmas last year cause she asked for one. Even her 6 year old brother wanted to sew so I helped him make a mug rug. He was so proud of himself. Thanks for telling new sewers not to stress....that is what discourages them and takes the joy out of sewing. ❤
You are my favorite. My mom is a fantastic sewist/quilter/seamstress but sadly, not a great teacher 🤪. I found you on TH-cam and have fallen in love with sewing. I’m totally going to make this bag to give to my sweet daughter in love as a “dirty bag” for when my grandson has an accident when they are out and about. Thank you for being real, personable, fun, and a great teacher. I wish you were my neighbor!
I love your attitude! You’re a wonderful teacher . What a great tribute to your home economics teacher. I love that you said “It’s your world”. That’s what I have always said to my nieces . Thanks for sharing your world.
Chelsea I look forward to watching you sew. I am 83 years old and you make me wish I knew you when I was younger. By that I mean I still sew. But don’t have as longer span as I used too. Thank you. Your the best in my opinion.
I love that you did this with simple tools. Not everyone has a walking foot and you did stress that using one be preferred but wanted to show it could be done without. Thank you for thinking of those small things for people like me 😃 I love your tutorials. You are a ray of sunshine
You are a very specific and detailed tutor/teacher/instructor. Your style is both enjoyable and relaxing. After reading some of your viewers comments I have to wonder if they are actually paying attention?? You left nothing out…the walking foot attachment was mentioned more than once and I have no doubt that your daughter’s safety is your number one priority as you teach her how to sew. Love your tutorials!! Looking forward to more projects.
Mom sewed for herself and us 4 girls. She never taught us but we now sew for ourselves and for our kids. We just picked it up. I am a purse and tote bag freak...I never had success making them. You have cleared my fears and encouraged me to iron my stored fabrics again. Bravo maestro.
Hi Chelsea, commenting from Maui, Hawaii! I loved your sew along of this bag. Can't wait to try it. Unfortunately, we don't have a Dollar Tree so I will be looking at Walmart or Ross for the kitchen pads and the shower curtain and so on. Thank you for sharing
Will you do a video on different feet and how to use them ? Maybe a cheat sheet so we can snapshot for future reference! Love your method of teaching just my style!
Chelsea, I love you and your vibrant personality. You brighten my days. I am 76 years and am pretty much home bound. I was wondering if you could make a tutorial on dollar tree mats to be used as a caddy to hold mail, remotes, glasses, phone, etc. something I can attach at the end of a table (with command hooks) next to my chair to help with clutter and for convenience. I will be watching further episodes to see what you come up with if you choose to do so. I so appreciate you…keep sewing. I love how you motivate and teach. ❤️🌹
I just found you today, 5/24/24, and absolutely love your personality and your way of teaching! Your fuzzy zippered bag is so cute! You have a new subscriber! 💜😘
Love you! Your work! Your attitude ! Your humor! Your ideas! I learned on my mom's machine when about 11y.o. and just took off. But got married and had no machine for 40yrs. I was always afraid of zipper until you. Now can we work on button holes and then slippery fabrics. Thank you Chelsea! May God continue to bless you in everyday, Jeanna (gee-na)
My life is insane right now but when things calm down I want to get back into sewing and teach my little grandgirls. I used to see almost all my clothes and my 3 little boys and they liked to sew themselves simple shorts and PJ’s. My husband actually enjoys sewing also like upholstery and tool pouches etc you know, manly things!!😂😂 I’m so glad I came upon your channel!!❤
Your tutorials are so well done! (And your narrative and delivery is so engaging and encouraging!) Thanks so much for your talent, time and energy. (It's like learning and sewing with a good friend!)
I love this pink fuzzy bag!! I will certainly be checking my Dollar Tree for the fuzzy fabric! I have just found your tutorials and am loving your method of teaching!!❤

You are so beautiful! You remind me of my friend that moved away. But my friend didn’t sew and you do. I like sewing. I love your videos. Please keep videoing.
You are terrific, great personality and a super teacher. Like Shirley, I don’t know how I found you, but so glad I did! I have been sewing all my life (now 76) since I was 8. You are perfect for newbie sewers, but I also have learned a lot from you too! Thank you!
Love it!!! I may be getting addicted to your channel!!! Yikes, I am so over-committed to projectmania already!! I really don't care, variety is the spice of life and at my age the risk is minimal and the satifaction is guaranteed joy!! Keep doing what you're doing, you're fantastic!!
Love this bag... I would leave the lining off I dont need it... but definitely love the rest of the bag with the strap great idea..I would use it for my sewing projects while traveling..you come up with some nice projects..thanks..
Hi 👋 Millennial here with hardly any sewing experience besides making easy costumes lol! I used this tutorial to make my first bag and first anything with a zipper! And I was so daring, I used another one of your videos to ✨box the corners✨ I made it as a makeup bag for a friends Christmas present using Nightmare Before Christmas (her favorite movie) fabric on the outside and jack-o’-lantern on the inside. Honestly, I was shocked at how stinkin cute it turned out 😂 I can’t wait to give it to her! Long story short, thank you for the tutorial! You are so fun to watch! ❤️
I enjoyed watching this video! I would love to learn how to sew!! You are a joy to watch. I enjoy watching and listening to you! You are a joy!! God Bless You!!
I really enjoyed your tutorial on the dish drying pad and the dollar store fat quarter, sweet!! You are really good at explaining and so kind, and knowledgeable about beginner sewers, love that❤ keep up the good work, I like that you use dollar tree products to help save money👍
I’d love to see what you do with the leftover mesh. I know you said scrubbies or loofahs. Maybe do a video on this? 😊 bc a whole lotta people are stashing this mesh because we’re all making bags with you. 😂😂
I have a White sewing machine that I bought in the1970’s. What impressed me when I bought it was it had a high & low speed. We had a house fire in March & my son who lives up near Portland Oregon took my machine up there & got it fixed. The foot pedal still spelled so I took it to the sewing bee in Roseburg Oregon now it works great.
I'm so glad your making longer video's, your so inspiring. I've been quilting for a few months but your the firsy person to convince me I could make a tote etc. Ty
You are so enjoyable and funny to watch as you know you had me laughing, talking about sewing and stitches. You had me in stitches. Very nice job. I wish I could really sell real good but I just do very little things hams little bit of short curtains, pillowcases, not much big items I used to back when my kids were young, but as the years went by, I got big and I didn’t make any more stuff for them only for my grandkids and grandkids. Love your ideas.🤗👏👌❤️
Thank you im going to try this for shampoo and body wash razor for traveling. Ive never put a zipper in thats a great idea getting the mesh bags and using the zipper.
Hi Chelsea, I’m loving watching your videos. You say about how crazy expensive things have become since 2020. That’s an understatement! I’m also shocked at how angry the wor has become. It’s very sad. I’m not much of a sewer, but love your ideas! 😊❤️🇨🇦. In my working days, I used to work in a big hospital laundry. For about 5 months I worked in the sewing room. I worked on simple things then got to work on the industrial sewing machines. Hemming sheets, blankets and bedspreads. Also some of the curtains for around beds in ER and wards. Those machines were great! This bag would be great for heating pad put in without the plastic liner. I like electric heating pads.
I loved watching this video. You have such a positive attitude. I think your approach can help new sewers feel less stressed. I love it when people who have been sewing forever tell about mistakes that they have made because for far too long in my life I thought I was the only one who struggled with such things. It’s nice to know that even the most experienced sewist can make mistakes and move on. There are a couple of things that I think could be helpful to newbies. The first is if you could mention in some of your future videos how often the needle in the sewing machine should be changed. The second is to remind us that we need to have our needle in the down position when we lift the presser foot, for example when we turn a corner. I know new machines default to the needle down position but older ones don’t. Anyway, thanks for your videos, I need some encouragement to get back to sewing. I have so many projects I need to work on but because of my busy schedule I lost my desire and focus. These simple projects are often what I need to get back into the swing of things. :)
You are Awsome! I love how I can sew along with you. You are so detailed and easy to follow. I am an experienced sewer but when you don’t use even easy techniques on a daily basis you need a reminder. Plus, you are so funny and positive. This is my 4th video of yours I’ve watched in a row 😂!
I too learned how to sew in junior high of a Home Economics class. The two projects I remember was a wrap around skirt, & a corded rope drawstring gym bag. It helped a lot that my mother sewed as well. That turned into a big passion of mine to learn to sew more. I forget what age I was when I asked my mom for a sewing kit for one of my birthdays. Maybe 16? Never think you’re too old to learn something new, or feel that you know it all & you’ve somehow arrived & couldn’t possibly learn anything because you know everything. When I took a beginner’s sewing class, I had already been sewing for a few decades. I went in w/an open mind, & thought hey, I just might learn something I didn’t know before. That was my first experience w/a serging machine! Boy was I hooked. I told my husband once he picked me up from class that I needed one, & had to get one. I learned how to make my own sloper, a dress, & a pair of pants. Since I really was the only non-beginner to sewing of a class of about 30 classmates, & one teacher- I kind of became the teacher’s assistant when she was unavailable to help. So my classmates came to me w/their questions or for my help.
❤️❤️❤️ your energy! I too took a sewing class in home economics many years ago, sadly I didn’t have a supportive teacher & dreaded the class, the projects, etc. watching you makes me want to try again but it’s been a million years. Would you make a video introducing us to the sewing machine, its parts, sewing terminology, basic sewing supplies needed, etc? I’m sure there are many of us who would be ever sooooo grateful! 🤗
Nikki I also had a home ec teacher that made classes miserable. But fortunately my mother had me sewing by the time I was 7 on her old singer treadle machine. I agree this channel has helped to renew my love of sewing and I intend to be very busy. You would not believe my fabric stash. Good luck getting back into sewing and enjoy yourself
I'm so glad to find your channel tonight. I've just bought a newc sewing machine and plan to learn how to sew. You're channel with you are going to teach me❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Your voice was so much fun. I was listening to this video while making myself a tutu. I didn’t actually see all of it and I could follow your steps, so you explain things well. You make it fun for beginners. This was my first time hearing you. Thanks for the comforting lice while I worked.
This seems like a wonderful chance to up-cycle my “fabric” waterproof shower curtain liner. They tend to stain on the bottoms but with a nice wash in BrightWhite and cutting the lower portion off, I can make bags for close friends and family. Sunscreen bag comes to mind. Also, Diaper changing mat comes to mind. Keep wipes and diapers and a mat inside this bag and throw it in the stroller.
I’m going to our dollar tree this morning and I will make this today for my friend as a makeup bag. You make me feel like I can do this, thank you for the video 😊

Absolutely love this bag. I am watching 3 mo later so I hope dollar tree still has the materials
When I was teaching my Granddaughter to sew I made her a little sign to keep near the sewing machine that said Be the boss of the fabric!
That is awesome!
I love that!
