One of your fastest tutorials…but so helpful. When you said…. No matter what kind of bag your making…I suggest the zipper be 2” shorter… that’s the answer I’ve been looking for. I make a lot of zipper bags and never get the zipper tabs to pop out correctly. Thank you so much and Merry Christmas ❤
Yes. Me too.
I thought zipper had to go edge to edge and my corners are often wonky.
There is a lady in Australia who does much the same thing with donated fabric. Sews lots of different items. Christine Home Affairs on TH-cam. Merry Christmas.❤❤❤
Yes!! I have whole bin of fabric samples from a designer friend. This is perfect! Thank you for the Amazon link for the zippers. Another win from Catherine.
🦮🐩 Catherine, would you please show how to upcycle a sweater and sweatshirt for a dachshund? Buying clothes for Cupcake is challenging, and I don’t want to waste a few sweaters in the attempt. Measuring length, chest, and tummy makes sense, but you will probably include some awesome tips. Winter just hit Mississippi! ⛄️❄️😂 I love your videos.
Great tip on the zipper! Fun quick project and video. Thanks for the zipper link too!
Those are darling! I have a bunch of those fabric remnants and don’t tend to use them because the paper can be so humbug! But these are a winner! I would think $8-10 is a good price. But if you have plenty and want to sell them all fast and easy, psychologically, $5 & $10 are good price points! Good luck! I may have to whip a few up to add to Christmas stockings! 😊
Use steam iron to remove paper while it is hot
My husband worked for an architectural firm that was clearing out a lot of fabric samples - lovely heavy silks for interior design, all colour coordinated solids and stripes. He made loads of bags as Christmas gifts one year for his large family. He has other samples, very exclusive, that were presented to the firm in a faux Louis Vuitton type trunk. Those Italians! We still have the trunk, and pull the samples out just to enjoy them now and then.
Wow, what a treasure!
Such a cute little pouch! Thank you for this video Catherine!❤
Dear Ms. Catherine: Merrie Christmas to you and yours and have a very blessed New Year! Thanks for all you do for us! ❤💚❤💚
Great idea Catherine. Wish you and your students well on your sales. Hope you get some time off soon to spend with your family and friends. Merry Christmas!
I always love a quick project!!
Wow Easy Peasy. Im going to make a couple for friends to hold their crochet needles! Thanks Catherine!
Hey Catherine, that was a nice fun video and fund raiser. Merry Christmas!
That was awesome. Thanks for sharing
If you use the steam on your iron and pull the paper off while it is hot. I used to live in a small town that had an interior design shop and she would get rid of her books for free periodically.
Can't find the open end zippers. The link went to regular zips.
Same here.
thank you , great tips!
I also wish you and your family happy holidays. Thank you so much for your great videos!
Many greetings from Vienna!
Margit ❤
Awesome, quick, and informative-!
That is so fast and fun! Thanks
Cool!!! Merry Christmas K!!!
I really like this idea for gift giving! Thanks!! Merry Christmas!!
Love it!
That was a quick sew!
Cute!
Catherine, Thank you for this easy tutorial. I tried to find the zippers on Amazon, but could not find them. Could you help me with that?
Thank you for this video. Very clear instructions. I've only just learnt how to insert zips using a sewing machine, so need all the help I can get. However, may I make a suggestion? How about making these pouches with French seams? I do think that if you're not using a lining then enclosed seams look a lot neater. Like the use of sample fabrics. A good example of upcycling.
I would like to see these done with a French seam too
cute cute cute
It would help other people who are new to sewing to mention what stitch length you are using, and perhaps what needle. And I’m guessing you used polyester thread for strength, but a lot of people may not know that.
Yes, I mention those details any time I’m using anything other than default settings, a universal needle and polyester thread.
@@CatherineSews people who are new to your channel won’t know what your default settings are
@@dcwatashi yes, you’re probably right. It’s just the default settings on the machine, but I should probably say what they are. Thanks!
@@CatherineSews Oh LOL I thought it was your own personal default setting. You see even I misunderstood what you were saying 😝😝😂🤣
I think it’s best to error on the side of giving too much information than not enough.
I buy zippers from eBay. There are a lot of people getting rid of there stash and you can get sewing stuff fairly inexpensive.
I never thought of buying from eBay! Good idea. I got these ones for about $15 for 100 which I thought was pretty great.
@@CatherineSews Wow, good price! Especially if you are buying large numbers of them
Hello from Austria 🙋♀️love love your Videos. Which Sewing Machine do you see with in the Videos?
Merry Christmas and happy New year to you!
the easiest tutorial!
I was wondering what you would do for a lined pouch? Wonderful video, especially the zipper treatment!
For a lined pouch, try a combo of this video plus this one: th-cam.com/video/htVFfidCD8M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BZAICEwV0bWCl1RU
You just made this soo easy I can’t not make it. Do you have one with a lining?
Catherine, thank you for recommending the zippers. I would like to purchase them, as I do a lot of charity sewing, however I live in America and the company does not ship to America. Can you suggest a means of getting them?
Great little bag the books are they from curtain shops?
Wooooooot!
Do you know where I can find those fabric samples?? (Im in the US). I'd love to get some. The pouches look great and a fantastic idea. Good luck with the sale!
I’m sorry, I wish I knew! You can search around for interior designers in your area and ask them if they know.
Go to thrift stores and buy pillow covers, blankets, clothes, placemats, jeans, etc: anything made of fabric that strikes your fancy, and cut them up to whatever size you wish. Definately THE most cost effective method there is. If you want your pouch to be water proof, do not overlook shower curtains and/ or platisticized table cloths! Hope this helps! 😊
Most cost effective would be free fabric samples.
@@helenwood3199 Very true if you can get them for free! Can you?
Fabric samples are regularly discontinued. I suggest you ask interior designers, furniture stores and upholstery shops to notify you when they have samples available.
Where do you find the sample books?
They were donated by a local interior designer who was happy to get rid of them! It’s worth asking around.
Sew cute🧵✅
How much are you selling the pouches for?
We don't know yet, but the sale is tomorrow night, so we have to decide FAST! How much do you think?
I agree with the comment just below.
I think $5 is a good price and you make a good profit .
