    A small correction. TDC on #1 Compression stroke will give you adjustment access to the intakes on #1,2, and 4; the exhaust on 1, 3, and 5. Then TDC on the #1 exhaust stroke will get you to the intakes on 3, 5, and 6; the exhaust on 2, 4, and 6. This is an excellent video from 2013, but I wanted to add this note to prevent others from trying to make this adjustment at BDC. Best regards.

    Dude, you seriously have the most thorough videos ive ever seen before. Checking valves and stuff made me nervous before but now it doesnt seem so bad, mostly if you just take your time and go slow enough you really shouldnt have any issues.

    I just bought a 2003 cummins HO with the nv5600 in it. Your videos are so awesome! I think some of my injectors are clogged and your injector video was so intuitive and gave me the inspiration to do it myself! Thanks man!

    Dude this is THE best channel for how to videos like this! Just got my first cummins, an 03 as well, and this watching these has already given me some great tips!!!

    Man your videos help me out a lot. If you have not done it already you should do a video on the importance of the type of oil to use and how to change it and the filters. Thanks for the knowledge

    Great how to video. Love the instruction and camera work. You need to do a lot more of these. and deeper into the motor. These are great, and you have a talent for this type of instruction. Well done!

    injector stud post NEVER HAVE 90Volts! Injectors fire at .5volts. Cant get power to them with out the key on.

    For 2006 5.9L exhaust adjustment is a little different in a Service Manual. MIN 0.021in - Max 0.034in and it says when adjusting set it to 0.026in. Intake is the same as in the video

    The differences are minimal but same principle. Remove cover, find TDC, set valve lash, rotate engine, complete the rest of the valve lashes, put covers back on. =)

    Is that .010 inch and .020 inch OR .010 mm and .020 mm?

    • @raymondpoteet8920
      @raymondpoteet8920 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Intake range, 0.006" - 0.015" and exhaust range 0.015" - 0.030", not mm.

    I just put on new head gasket for my 2000 dodge cummins and injectors and pushrods and as I am adjusting rocker arms noticed my number 3 pushrod is so tight wont move free no matter how much I backed it off is it suppose to be like that and yes I have it TDC

  • @ProjectCummins
    @ProjectCummins  11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yes but the stock is modified, baffle taken out and silencer removed, so for now it will do =)

    8:23 You said to rotate the crank 360 degrees, did you mean 180 degress?

    • @DavidMiller-md3ok
      @DavidMiller-md3ok 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No 720 degrees of crank would be 1 cycle for each cylinder. He was saying you might be tdc for exhaust. You adjust tdc of compression, both I and E closed

    Dumb question, but I'm replacing my injectors now, and all my injectors are out and i never went to tdc in the beginning. Is that going to be an issue? Could I mess anything up when going to tdc before doing a valve last?

    • @arthurgallardo4052
      @arthurgallardo4052 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will not mess anything up. Throw em in. Adjust them and turn the key.

    • @raymondpoteet8920
      @raymondpoteet8920 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      • Order of adjustment
      o 1, 2, and 4-cylinder intakes can be adjusted at the same time, then check exhaust on 1, 3, and 5
      o Rotate engine 360 degrees
      o 3, 5, and 6-cylinder intakes can be adjusted at the same time, then check exhaust on 2, 4, and 6

    Taking the baffles out is a great move, I am running a stock intake with no baffles, and a 4" Mopar filter in my stock box. It flowed enough air for 692HP. aftermarket intake filters allow dirty air by.. don't believe the hype.

    Now some may be asking why rotate 360. fellas that's cause the cam only rotates 180 degrees when the crankshaft rotates 360.

    this procedure is also known as a tune-up lol it would have been a lot easier to just call it that...
