I first heard this song on TH-cam, then one day I heard my dad playing it on the turntable, I was like 'He knows this band too?' My dad keeps his hobbies and past life very secret, sad thing really. We have more in common then I originally thought.

One of the best bands of their day and there were so many great bands around then. Golden Brown is a personal favourite of mine, I got trapped on that fly paper for a few years. I have no regrets though, what’s the point of regret. My only regrets when it’s my time to go will be the things I never got round to doing or didn’t try at least once.

The line about Trotsky getting his ears burned just had to be made into a cartoon.
It could have been done 'Tom and Jerry' style or 'Itchy and Scratchy' style, but Terry Gilliam style seems just right for this song.
I think it's that both the Pythons and the Stranglers have become heroes, in similarly rebellious ways and in the same era.

“‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
      and they will prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20 The sun will be turned to darkness
      and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
      21 And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

I love RJD2! Thought that his video had autoplayed, but that would be strange after 80s music. But no, it was a short film tacked on the end...

This is fantastic. Much better than the one released on the official DVD.
One small quibble: The line in the first part is "dear old Lenny," not "dear old Lenin." Fairly soon after release, he started performing it as "dear Lenny Bruce" to avoid the confusion.
    Much respect.

sort of joke you find in the "Big Lebowski" movie . In this movie one guy quote Lenin and another guy understand Lennon and keep on saying "I am the walrus".

First you couldn't smoke in them or buy dodgy baccy from underneath the counter, and then it became like at least £5 a pint.
