The video where everybody was waiting for! Thanks for testing this! I guess in the end it all makes sence why GY6's are standard paired with a CVK carb. I couldnt get my PWK setup to be performing better than the out of the box CVK setup either.. PWK definitely gives a way more snappy and racey feeling, but the actual numbers tell us something else. The convenience of being able to start your scooter in the winter with the CVK carb without a hazzle is also worth a lot!

Well damn! Now I wish I had watched this vid before ordering the PE!😁 I’ve got a 19mm CVK on still (first thing I replaced) after getting scooter going when it was given to me a couple years ago. I like the idea of quicker throttle response for the fun factor, but think the higher top speed is more beneficial for riding in traffic. And like you said, they just work once you get them dialed in. 👍🏼

Great video!! My PWK30 on my 70mm big bore XR150L works great. I did modify it by putting a piece of foam above the needle to hold it down better and I put a bigger spring to put more pressure on the slide. I might have to try a cvk sometime though! Thanks for the video!😎👍

@@GhettoWrench yes, just added a piece of foam between the white plastic piece and the top of the needle in the slide. The foam piece can be inserted in the white plastic piece where the needle fits. I just had noticed that the needle was really loose when in the carb. Having the foam in there also makes it easier to put the slide back in the carb because it holds the needle where it’s supposed to be. Other carbs have a clip or something that holds the needle in place better. Then I replaced the stock spring with a longer one.

I tried to look through all your videos for the answer and gave up. So much content. You're the man for these Ice bears hands down. Mostest/bestest. My question was have you gotten around to trying the 30mm stock style carb vs nibbi 28 or other styles? I've got a stock 150 with better exhaust Gen 5 and a 171 kit on another basically same as your set up I've seen before possibly I different cam. Ncy ignition set up and an adjustable cdi. (Probably tmi) I have a nibbi 28mm slide style ready to go. I just wonder if rideability would be better with the 30 stock style. Seems this video was a great explanation of what I'm asking about just smaller motor.

Nibbi should have something in the 21/22mm size range. I have a 30mm Nibbi PE carb on my Hawk 250 that is the round slide like yours. The only different is they offer two variants of the PE carbs in two different color choices which are raw aluminum like your and black with anodized red like mine. The variant that offers more sizes is the slip-in version not the one with the intake flange. I think the biggest size you can get for the flanged version is 28mm which a lot of people also like to buy for their Hawk 250's. The biggest you can get for the slip-in PE carbs is the 30mm. Any bigger than that and it goes to the PWK model.
Also, good info on the PWK carbs, they're exactly what I'm looking for. My two vintage Yamaha dirt bikes need new carbs and I don't want to pay big money for original carbs from the era's. My 76 IT400 needs a new carb, the one on it has something broken off and my 81 YZ465 never had a carb when I got it since it's a basket case project.

@@GhettoWrench I think I bought a 22mm version of the slip-on Nibbi for a three wheeler I have. Never got to use it on the three wheeler though since it's been apart for a while. The flanged version is actually better over the slip-on model when it comes to the Hawk 250 though. It keeps the proper distance of the original carb so people were able to keep their air boxes. With my slip-on model I needed a new intake adapter and had to rid of my air box for just a pod filter. But if you're wanting to run a pod filter anyway it's not a big deal.

I just got my moped two weeks ago but got it running well stock now and have rollers and a variator kit coming in the mail today so excited to see how they works. Mine fires right up from cold and never needs the choke. Doesn't bog at all unless stabbed due to the lack of accelerator pump. #95 main #32 pilot w/foam pod filter for me.
