In my country, France, we would never use the word "productivity" to talk about someone life. It's purely and only used for work, particularly industrial places ( but not only). In your free time, you certainly don't need to be productive. Just enjoy life and people.
In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. I'm really much impressed with your personality here. And your comments are so interesting..
Thank you Jim for introducing our wisdom! I had no idea that even "Harahachibu" can be one of the technique to overcome the Laziness. Those 7 techniques are all familiar to us and it’s our lifestyle!
Unfortunately I don’t know much about Japanese culture, but as much as I know it, I find it one of the most interesting cultures in the world which has lots of good things to offer and interestingly is still alive and being practiced even by many young Japanese! 🤗🪷
IN A NUTSHELL 1. Kaizen - Small improvements lead to big changes (1% increase per day) | Tint consistent steps 2. Shinrin Yoku (Nature’s healing touch) --- Shinrin means Forest | Yoku means Bath 3. Do what you are good at (Profession - What you are good at + what you can be paid for) c. Do what the world needs (Mission - what you love + what the world needs) d. Yes but killing any life form could be seen as a terrible thing, so long as humans don't disrupt the balance of nature. I imagine they probably have disrupted the cycle of whale life though :( @@77NickDale
@@77NickDalekilling is natural, evolutionary tendencies and biology existed before ethics which were a byproduct of the creation of biology: Humanity. And a byproduct of humanity is ethics, ethics came from religion, the evolutionary sense to be in a group and keep eachother safe, authority, culture and enviroment. Ethics is merely an illusion, and whatever stops the necesities of evolution and biology is in no way the right thing to do.
Thank you!! (I think sometimes what can get labeled "laziness" can be Overwhelm/ Not knowing where to start/ or maybe even Anxiety...) That seems to happen to me. Maybe remembering "Progress Over Perfection" helps... All the principles mentioned helpful!
Thank you for your videos and podcasts Jim. Your speech is clear and slow enough which makes it easier to follow and to understand. 😊 I have now hope to improve my brain. ❤

I want to express my gratitude to Jim Quick for sharing valuable insights and experiences from Japanese culture and philosophy. These methods not only help overcome laziness but also bring positive changes in life and personal development. Let's apply these teachings to achieve success and happiness in our daily lives. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, and I look forward to hearing more valuable content in the future.
Thank you so much for this…I really appreciate hearing this today….I’m two weeks into a six week minor (toes on both feet) surgery! I woke up feeling lazy and sluggish…it’s also below zero today. I am trying to maintain some sense of routine and exercise. I can do my balance board👏 and modified PT exercises. I will be listening to this several times today! Thanks Jim
These Japanese concepts are deeply meaningful and provide a guide to living a balanced, thoughtful, and fulfilling life. 1.Kaizen: Encourages incremental and consistent improvement. It's a great philosophy for personal growth, productivity, and skill development. 2.Shinrin Yoku: Highlights the benefits of immersing yourself in nature for mental and physical health. Even short nature walks can bring calm and clarity. 3. Ikigai: The search for your unique purpose-combining what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for-is powerful for leading a fulfilling life. 4. Wabi Sabi: Teaches us to accept imperfection and impermanence, helping cultivate gratitude and appreciate life's beauty in the flawed and ephemeral. 5. Shoshin: A beginner's mindset fosters curiosity and openness, essential for learning and personal growth. 6. Hara Hachi Bu: A mindful eating habit that aligns with health and moderation, inspired by the Okinawan lifestyle associated with longevity. 7. Ganbaru: This virtue emphasizes dedication and perseverance, embodying the spirit of never giving up, even in adversity.
Pleasure seeking in its myriad forms is probably wrecking your consistency. Shut off the pleasure. If you're not doing what you think you should do, do nothing instead of falling into pleasure seeking. Boredom is your friend. In boredom, achievement will rise.

Im thinking about deleting most of my unnecessary social medias too but the other half of me is trying to convince me that they could be helpful, how is it going for you ? Is it really helping you out
I'd like you to add "there's good in leftovers," although it's not a means of overcoming laziness. I know we don't have a good image of leftovers, but the Japanese appreciate leftovers, and sometimes it actually leads to good results.
