Today we go for a 0 weapon run to see if you can win against the hardest mode in Vampire Survivors, the Inverse Mode that triples the enemies HP. Halfway through the run the realization kicks in that it will be impossible to not pick up an additional weapon, simply because we don't have enough banishes to get rid off all. There are technically ways around that, but none that would be exciting, like e.g. just standing still. So I made the decision to hopefully spice it up a bit (compared to literally doing nothing) and go for 1 weapon.

The struggle at the start is the most interesting part of such challenge runs, later on its just the same, so just go nuts with limit break and such, makes it more interesting. Besides 28+ min there is nothing to see between like 11 min and 28 min

i much prefer to see you have fun you know so much about this game that i dont even know how you know but you do so when you encounter something you dont understand me as an engineer wants to see you figure it out in real time it's much more fun to watch that process unfold lol

Laurel is a weapon yes, but one stack of it is just blocking one attack, thats not going to change the build drastically, i say 1 laurel then banish it

Felt like the challenge was completed already, going crazy seems fair in this case. You could literally just sit in a corner and AFK, which is less interesting than big booms.

I think in the spirit of the video Laurel is fine. Generally when i think "weapon" I think of an item that "attacks" or "deals damage," and the laurel does neither lol

There are 39 weapons in this game but 7 of them are from the DLC meaning there are 32 in the normal game, you can seal 10 of them meaning there are 22 left which means with Silent Old Sanctuary you can banish one clover by mistake and still get all weapons!
you can do it with divano in the dlc, banishing the laurel on the 2nd or 3rd level (I don't know if you can get armor or you'd just end up with no way of dealing damage)

With the new update this challemge is even more doable

"Which faction do you belong to?" Team Crimson shroud easily. You can always save the idea of "Actually banish every weapon in the game" for a later video too.
If you try this challenge again you should try getting laurel ASAP and then banishing it the next level. No one should complain about a level 1 laurel and that way you don't have to worry about running out of banishes.
Then it's not a "no weapon" challenge, tho. It may not do damage, but Laurel is still a weapon.
Laurel is actually a weapon not a passive, similar to garlic

@@heccinsiannait doesn't do damage by itself by definition its not a weapon. the only reason its a "weapon" is so it won't be an item only evolution and allows other items to effect it. (The wiki says it has a damage value but it does NOT use it)

You should try with sarabande of healing. Push enemies back, chickens are nukes, double healing. With coin arcana would be nutty too
I first did this challenge with Cosmo, who gets the two birds as hidden weapons. Divine Bloodline makes Cosmo invincible. I hadn't even thought to try heart of fire, I forgot it was retaliatory, but I did Silent Old Sanc, and the damage bonus for having literally no weapons is amazing. Super fun, and I actually did dodge taking the Laurel, but it involved a combo of standing still and Game Killer, so yeah, would;ve been a boring stream.
This is what I call the "immortality build." Or, with Cosmo, it's the "Murder Missile" build. It's usually my first tactic when I can't clear a level with a character. Only if it still doesn't work do I switch to Game Killer. I also like to pair it with Sarabande, so I can get the HP back up to a point where I can estimate if I should shove an Atlantean.
What does Game Killer do?

@@davidrosensin7985 it tends to be used in try hard early game rush builds. Level up fast then stop leveling and get game killer, it’s not anything more than that.

This start with toasty was how I did the 1billion damage run. I just did this by the title before Watching yours and I did basically the same thing. Good stuff man. Happy late birthday ^_^ congrats on that 69k subs lol
Happy Birthday dude! Not sure if you tried it yet but with Divine Bloodline it is definitely possible to do stuff like Bone Zone Inverse Mode (no items or extra passives besides the Metaglios and Rings), No Eggs, and no Limit Break (and only pick money instead of chickens), take Wicked Season at lvl 1, and fully level up Skull and Torrona's Box for max curse. The beauty of this build is that you will one-hit ko all normal enemies that ever spawns even if you die once in the run, so no need to worry about curse getting out of control. In fact, you NEED more enemies to come at you so that the damage you do will go up way faster than the enemy's HP from curse.
I haven't tried it with no weapons, but it definitely works easily with Victory Sword, Night Sword, and Crimson Shroud. Just banish the Victory Sword and Night Sword evolutions and you should be fine lol

My favorite part about being subscribed is seeing you start the challenge and then go and refining it in my own ways and reading comments of others who have done the same or put the pieces of your build together to say why it was so successful. I'd never mind if you didn't stick 100% to the beginning guidelines

As someone who doesn't know every item by heart, it's pretty hard to follow your thought process at times.
I know the game pretty well and sometime I don’t understand his though process as well. Sometimes Dex talks for 20 seconds but his brain buffers and doesn’t follow his voice. Lol

28:28 I think you can cancel out the auto money by picking up a passive and then the next level up will recognize there's an item to level up and it will return to a normal level up option.

I tried this myself and had to banish 8 items before buying more banishes from the merchant. Needless to say, my Devine Bloodline was delayed by a lot (about 5min i believe) and i heavily relied on chicken drops to stay alive. Considering the amount of restarts and waiting to passivly heal up just to banish one more random item, taking level 1 Laurel and banishing it afterwards would be the more sane option. Still very fun idea and very satisfieng to make it work.

I’ve been playing more Vampire survivors as of late ever since I finished Alan Wake 2, and thus not having any long form game to play. I could’ve sworn that I had beaten the game ever since I fought God(?), but finding your channel has shown me just how much more to this game that there is.
Seeing you play Inverse mode without a single weapon is inconceivable to me, at this point I have no idea how that would be possible as I have yet to beat Boss Rash with even a single weapon
Boss rash is easy with Porta and game killer, you basically don't even have to try

you can check your current hp with divine bloodline by looking at the difference between your max hp and your might stat -75 (powerups and spinach).

First off Happy Birthday! Second, to answer the question you asked. I think starting with a goal is the best way to make a good video but don't be afraid to go off script and change the plan if you feel the plan isn't going all that great. I am also on team chaos, so going bonkers is the best way to play this game imo.
POV: TH-camr doesn't realize he can take the exploding xp crystal arcana instead of banning every weapon or standing still for the rest of the game.

Hey friend, fun video! Just wanted to let you know that your audio is a bit strange. You seem to have an extreme resonance in the upper frequencies of your normal speaking voice. Check the recording back, especially at the beginning. When you transition from a higher pitch to a lower pitch you can hear the boominess quite easily. I'd recommend treating whatever room it is you record in for that particular resonance, or (if you can't do that) EQ or Dynamic EQ that region so the booming is less pronounced :)
Are you not counting Clock Lancet, Laurel and such as weapons? It seems that way.
Edit: Laurel seems fair, if we were playing a serious No Damage Run then you should never have been able to gain levels. The main tactic would've been to throw enemies way without doing damage which is impossible.

For surviving 30 min you don't need gold healing nor extra revives. What you want instead is boogaloo of illusions for more area. Also I don't know the update history but we have a lot more than 10 seals now. The best thing to seal though is the freeze pickup because it stops everything while active.
I think it's enough that you proved it's a valid strategy. You should have definitely gone for whatever else you wanted to try after the 15 minute, specially with 20k hp in my opinion.
Surviving to 18 minutes without needing to use any revives pretty much proves you wouldn't die to anything going forward. Shroud is a lot more fun. Picking "Always" option on level up does prevent you from getting limit break, it happened to me before.

One weapon only, limit break Gorgeous Moon. Hardest early game into the easiest endgame. I was getting about 10 levels per second for 20 minutes

I prefer the idea of pivoting to shroud. The main point of video has been proven so theres no reason to just go to 30m to say you did then do another run just to try shroud.
Me looking at that gameplay when I stopped playing fairly early after the game came out due to new job:
"WTF am I looking at?"
With the amounts of revives and hp you could have won the challenge already but it would have been too boring and i would have clicked off at 14 minutes mark

Ugh, seeing this game being played on keyboard with jaggy 4 directional movements is painful...
i like how on most of his videos he acts like the math is not donne in his head beforehand and he knows exactly what he is doing, in this case, to the point of banninf the worng item "by mistake"

I was expecting some area cards build, but it was just some bad Crimson Shroud build (wich is a weapon)
