Great question. Usually it's to send them exclusive music, invites, or promo. But you can get as crazy as you like. For example, you can do raffles to anyone that signs up, out a giveaway, or a chance to join your personal community where they can speak with you directly. You can even give free gifts.
As you can tell by now, it can be for any reason. It really just depends on your creativity.
